  1. If they're selling McGills, then it's very much all their eggs in one basket. Maybe it's just to announce that Stockbridge is offski, or that Toxic has got chronic writer's cramp and is retiring. Hey it's Christmas. Maybe both.
  2. Once again, it's obviously tight and far from a foregone conclusion. Otherwise the Board would be their normal quiet selves.
  3. Divisions have always been a threat to democratic processes. What is clear, on standing back and taking a deep breath, is that one group can't possibly win the hearts of the whole fan base. If we are talking about some form of fans' governance oversight, there would need to be representation from all the groups, otherwise, it wouldn't be workable. A sort of committee - probably with a neutral chairman whom all could trust. We would also need a framework so that everyone understood the rules. Even then I fear it would be fraught with difficulty. The good signs are that occasionally groups are talking together.
  4. This was good to read. Hope he continues to improve. He's excellent already, but he could very well end up being some player.
  5. But it's not merely posting something that was written on another forum is it? It ends up as forcefully trying to put certain perspectives over. No debate at all.
  6. Well, this type of behaviour appears to be the modus operandi for scummy newspapers and journalists.
  7. All seems a bit pointless to me. It would appear that RM are attempting to influence the vote amongst fans. I might be wrong, but at this stage, I think everyone has their mind more or less made up.
  8. Brave new world. Wonder who's behind this?
  9. It's a clear message. What do you prefer? Pyro or Rangers? Also one for the SFA, SPFL and Celtic to take notice of. Although there's still the issue of detection and enforcement at away grounds. Rangers can't be held responsible for that.
  10. It's a good piece, fairly put, and I'm pretty sure it will reach a lot of fans. I also think they're going about things the right way. Be interesting to see how it's seen by the various forums.
  11. I forgot about this. 82 complainants. Dearie, dearie me.
  12. I was thinking more along the lines of selling players, but you have a point. If shove does come to push, there's no way back, and there should be no backing down.
  13. If it comes down to the present Board vs fans showdown, it will be nasty. I can foresee the Board not budging and threatening all sorts come close season.
  14. We'll never know if the divisions can be bridged - and healed - unless some people try to bring it about. I'm not sue if just now is the best time. It might be that the best time is not too far round the corner.
  15. There's a desperate need to continually sell newsprint. If he does have to go - which I don't think he will - he's worth every bit as much as Hutton was. On his game, he's a good player and EPL quality.
  16. It was football fans who originally drove the need to introduce legislation by writing multiple letters of complaints over a prolonged period. The Police and the powers that be were all too happy to go along with it. So - like it or not, this type of occurrence is here to stay. Pandora's box. The legislation is supposed to be re-examined to determine if it's working.
  17. Yes of course I miss the build up and the raw excitement of playing them. Old Firm is a term that I shy away from these days. After the past two years, and the openly active attempts of a lot of their support to bury us, I now would be quite happy if I never saw or heard of them again.
  18. I think there is a very understandable lack of collective trust. We were easy meat with Craig Whyte, and we're led up the garden path by his lies. Green was met with an initial lack of trust, but played a blinder. That guy was different class when it came to fibs and porkies. The Pied Piper of modern football. Green actually puffed himself up and morphed into an illusion of something we all wanted. A Rangers man for the times. All the while conning us on every level. I think that all we collectively want is transparency and the knowledge that our Club is in safe hands and is going in the right direction. How we go about that seems to be muddied by the choice of this Board or the requisitioners. We need to work towards a trustworthy system of governance. How we go about that and how we first bring together and govern the different fan agendas is the difficult squaring the circle bit. In the meantime. I think it wise that this Board and it's influence is purged.
  19. I agree with Amms. It appears that we are losing sight of the real issue. That issue is about ousting the dangerous self interests from the board and exorcising or diluting their influence. This is not about an election campaign between personalities. If the requisitioners are the catalyst that would bring this about then that so be it. They will still be subject to the fans' vote of confidence. We must learn that we have the power. We are the bums on the seats, we buy the merchandise and we bring in the other revenue streams. Without us, there is nothing. But first things first. We need radical change, and we need to be reassured that our Club is moving forward. We need accountable governance we can trust and we need transparency. Allowing the present Board and it's backers to continue is unthinkable. At present, there is only one other alternative.
  20. The OPs were anything but neutral. They were attempted assassinations.
  21. Could anyone explain to me why RM have taken such a line. There's always more subtle reasons than the obvious. I don't want to cause a shitstorm but I'd very much like to know the real reasons for their stance.
  22. While he was poring over the minutes, I wonder if he considered Stockbridge's home video escapade. That for me is one of the most abhorrent parts of this whole affair. If Somers is aware of it and either ignores it or actively seeks to exonerate Stockbridge, then that tells me bundles about the guy. This isn't partisanship. This is a pure question of moral rectitude.
  23. There's a word which admirably encapsulates all six of those adjectives. It's "jackirvinesque."
  24. DJ knows what side his bread's buttered on. Therefore his attempt to make sure he'll be able to butter it on the other side too with his comment - "I have said all along that I think the two groups, the board and the nominees, have to lock themselves in a room and try to reach a compromise agreement." No matter who wins out on the 19th, DJ will make sure he's still earning a crust out of his Rangersness.
  25. Is Stockbridge coming along to the AGM in person?
