  1. I haven't bought papers for nigh on 10 years.
  2. Fletcher won't set the shamrocks on fire, sell jerseys or put bums on seats. Besides, I thought Ibrahimović was champing at the bit to pull on the green and grey.
  3. I wonder if there were any racial slurs against Moshni or any insults that offended his religious beliefs.
  4. A guid new tear tae yin and a' To each and every One of you and your loved ones.
  5. Another yawn of a "make it up as you go" piece by Keith Jackson and Anthony Haggerty. Wallace is out of the country, isn't he? How the hell can they portray this as "straight from the horses mouth" breaking news stuff then? Hacks doing what they always have. Trying to sell newsprint. We fans should really start to produce our own ""Daily Ranger." There's more quality informed writers on this forum than there are in the whole of the Scottish hack community.
  6. Who would I move on? Tough decision. Stockbridge top of the list I guess. Followed by Somers, Laxey and the Easdales.
  7. And on that note, Hildy, I admire, and will endeavour to foster, your optimistic outlook on the New Year and the future.
  8. Hildy - point taken and agreed that democracy isn't perfect I have strong views that democracy has become much less of a perfect beast in recent years. Our Brave New World is altering its implementation in many ways a- and none of them as yet for the benefit of true democracy. Regarding Rangers, one only has to look back at the run up to the AGM to understand how fans and media persevere in attempting to skew the democratic process. Selection of fan representatives in the future would make the last few weeks look like a Teddy Bears' Picnic There are elements of our fan base who are blinkered to their own forums and driven by the agendas of a few. I think its extremely naive to put our trust in "Mother Democracy" making sure that everything will turn out perfect. Some people need to do a lot more research and put their ideas of findings out there for debate. As I said, there are elements of our support who, if they had ultimate control of the Club, would willingly morph it into an identity that I would not wish to be a part of. A hell of a lot can be done in the period between yearly elections.
  9. Hildy - without expressing a view either way, fan ownership does not per se equate with the Club not "falling into dangerous hands." It could quite easily end up in the hands of people who - albeit with the best of intentions - destroy the Club forever. I haven't seen any fundamental manifesto to date and I haven't a clue of where our democratic heart lies. That last part really worries me. Rangers falling under control of a misguided agenda driven fan faction would drive me away reluctantly.
  10. Addressing an earlier point in this thread, the DK thing has been done to death. However, what's to stop DK investing and nominating a director with his proxy. Everyone else seems to get away with it at the Club.
  11. On looking back through the JAG minutes, and what they have created and achieved, it was certainly a waste of time and a whole load of waffle.
  12. There's a distinct air this week of hacks wanting some kind of better product for next season. What's driving it, I wonder? Don't panic, though, the cyber warriors will soon be out in force to derail any thoughts anyone's having. 15 year olds who've hardly been at a game running the agenda of the national game .......
  13. Keevins has always followed his lesser god of chasing his sensationalist meal ticket as opposed to groundbreaking quality journalism. That's why he's never raised himself above the station of mediocre football hack. Forever going round and collecting his £200 at Go. Poor old Monopoly Keevins.
  14. Unfortunately a great number of our fans have no appetite for building from youth and accepting the short term consequences. A large percentage would rather we buy into success - albeit on a hit and miss basis. Think of the horrendous procession of misfit strikers we have blown a fortune on over the years.
  15. Says it all really. We'd be better off standing up for ourselves and giving better banter than is dished out. Make no mistake, they hate us being their payday. I think it's sweet karma.
  16. 1-1 It was coming. Absolutely pissed off. Should never have been allowed. Queue - boos break out.
  17. For anyone looking for updates. 1-0. Penalty. Big Jig.
  18. Agreed about Aird - would have preferred him to start as opposed to Peralta. Might be more to do with putting him on later when their legs are tired.
  19. Daly should be one of the first names on the team sheet. Makes absolutely no sense to move him on.
  20. As always, like the coo's tail. Merry Christmas to you all. Hope you have a great one.
  21. I know what kind of self help they need.
  22. So, what's it to be? SKY : Solicitors have asked police to investigate violent threats made against him and the Easdales. Three members of the Rangers board have lodged complaints to the police after violent threats were made against them. or The Herald :A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We have not received a formal complaint from Rangers Football Club. However, we have contacted the club and will undertake further inquiries to assess if there is criminality involved." There were either complaints lodged or there weren't. Surely Jack is singing from his same hymn sheet?
  23. I'm not so sure that we will be able to compete with the terms that the lower English leagues will offer you scottish talent! let alone the EPL. I think a top youth development programme should be the cornerstone of our operation. Like it has been at clubs like Ajax and Lyon.
  24. I didn't imply a Timmy conspiracy. I specifically said that there was a compliant press. Just because the media receive press releases or briefings from clubs, it doesn't necessary follow that they will print what the club wants. At present, and for the past couple of years, we have been portrayed as being on our knees, while Celtic have been portrayed as raking in the money and not needing to sell players unless it's for silly money. I can't remember the last time anyone in the press spoke well of any Rangers player. So, I wasn't alluding to a Timmy conspiracy, but was inferring that toxic and his crew have been doing us no favours. Our PR operation needs to start consistently putting out good stories about us, the same as other clubs do. PR releases about fire sales is just shooting ourselves in the foot.
  25. I think there is a compliant press as regards putting out the Celtic party line - whether they are aware of it or not. I'm not sure how inept we have been in that area over the years. Hutton, Boumsong, Cuellar all went for good fees. However, the press have their rabid teeth into this "RFC going broke" mantra, and no one will pay top dollar to us in those circumstances. If Irvine was worth his salt he could rectify that, but it's beyond a tabloid hack's pay scale. We should get rid of him and get someone first class in for half his retainer.
