  1. There's a no-win situation ahead for us. If we boycott clubs like Dundee Utd, we will be accused of attempting to destroy the Scottish game with our bigotry and arrogance. If we try to build bridges, we will be marginalised and be continually kicked. No doubt accused of bigotry and arrogance. I'll never ever be back at Tannadice.
  2. I can't recall him ever referring to himself as British before. Flip flop opportunist isn't he?
  3. First class D'Art. First class indeed.
  4. I'm wondering if Thompson's outbursts are measured to make Utd appear to be victimised ahead of McNamara's disciplinary. I'd be surprised if he gets off with no sanction, but would the SFA ban him for the semi?
  5. Really pleased to see 2 good statements from the RST and the RSA. We should also be seeing some output from the Club including asking the SFA to intervene.
  6. Looks like a bit of a regrouping. Quite a naive take on things. The history of football is littered with boards, chairmen and managers who didn't believe they needed to listen to fans. I find it nigh on impossible to look on Merlin as a fellow fan. There's nothing in that piece that hints that he is.
  7. He's right though. I'm quite looking forward to the next month. Hope the bit about Little and Temps is right.
  8. Good article and sums up how I feel. As 26th of Foot suggests, we do need to get the message of the inherent unfairness out to the media.
  9. I'm sure that there'll be an update for the following year (in due course.) Some kind of pattern may start to emerge, but I'm not convinced.
  10. Interesting question, Frankie. If we achieved what you suggest, I wouldn't be surprised if some of our fans would still not approve of Ally! As regards Manager of the Year is it PFA or SFWA that make the real award? Either way, there are those who would rather stick hot needles in their eyes than vote for Ally. I would imagine a strong case would be made for McInnes this season, but if your scenario comes true, they would have a hard job to justify not voting for Ally
  11. Agreed with on all counts. Two options, lie down and take the kicking, or regroup and plan a way forward.
  12. Agreed. Any allegations/insults against us should be taken as such, and an apology, retraction and reprimand demanded. Otherwise I was pointing out what I believe are the differences between an SC semi final at Ibrox and a normal home game. I'm pretty sure that the SFA will be responsible for much more than ticketing - such as security etc.
  13. Fair enough Hildy, I've got sympathy with that viewpoint. History, however, doesn't show that they are content with displaying their own behaviour. They have also been proactive in trying to silence our support. That is what worries me.
  14. I haven't seen anything. As I said, my view is that the UOF should step into the PR void that exists at present. After all, it was a slur against our fans.
  15. That's very valid. On the whole, the football on the way to Manchester wasn't exactly inspiring. However, reaching the final was undoubtably a success.
  16. That is why there is a strong need for our fans to be defended. There is a distinct possibility that the concerted rush for repeal would ensure safety for GB/IRA type offensive behaviour while returning to open season on Rangers fans, and Rangers fans alone. So, while I share the viewpoint that the Act needs some amending, I wouldn't like to see it repealed unless there are some safety mechanisms in place that won't allow the GB/Celtic ultra wing to run riot with impunity. Since the Act was commenced, they have certainly been reined in (somewhat) and they don't like it one little bit.
  17. That's either very naive or pretty biased. The SNP have actually achieved and promoted an awful lot of good things for everyone who lives in Scotland. But this type of discussion should really be in the Lounge. We were discussing the OB Act and the implications of Labour promising an appeal.
  18. Quite honestly, I think reaching the SC Final would be an achievement, given where we are and the adversity we've overcome. I find it humorous that the media flip between us being a Big team and a wee team, or a team with no history and a proud team whose history demands success. All of course to suit the present purpose. Raith first. Let's get that under our belt. Then let's sort out these wannabes from Dundee.
  19. Well, Ally's quoted there as saying a few will be given the chance, which is encouraging.
  20. As regards to the slurs on fans etc., that has me fizzing. I held off writing a letter to the SFA last night, as I really think there should be a more inclusive type of letter sent to the SFA and the media. In the absence of a Board that looks after our interests, it might be an excellent opportunity for the UOF to do a bit of lobbying and garnering of fan support.
  21. That is up to the SFA. It's their tie, and they are arranging policing, security etc. This has nothing to do with Rangers. It's an SFA Cup semi final!
  22. I'm quite happy to see English and Wilson there. The anti-Rangers bias (or is it pro-Celtic bias) at the BBC has been quite flabbergasting in recent years. I can only see them balancing it somewhat.
  23. Probably agent briefing as I can't see any quotes from the Club there. I would like to think that we will be trying to form a rock solid defence as a first priority. I think that will be the key to the next few seasons.
  24. It's by no means certain that Scottish Labour would form part of the next Government in 2016. If it was as a minority Government or as part of a coalition, the promise to repeal this Act could very well prove to be a priority that they would drop as being impossible to effect. As it stands just now, this is merely a transparently cynical attempt to appeal to their traditional Celtic/IC vote, which as we remember, deserted them in droves last time around. Given that the likelihood of them having an overall majority is thankfully less than zero, I'm not so worried about this just now. It's just a small part of their overall policy development. Given some robust evidence out there I'm not sure how they would approach a repeal if they tried. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Justice/law/sectarianism-action-1/football-violence/bill http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/S4_JusticeCommittee/Inquiries/Charges_reported_under_OBFTC_Act.pdf Obviously the pro Celtic/IC media would whip up a storm - as they did prior to the Act being rolled out! However, I think the consensus is that many in the Celtic/IC camp did not foresee the Act coming, and had expected their lobbying to result in more one-sided action. Perhaps this is another attempt to readdress the even-handedness of the Act, and replace it with something more akin to non-legal anti-Rangers witch hunts which have historically proved to be much more effective.
  25. I'd like to see an embarrassing climb down over some of the nasty comments that came our way.
