  1. it's the papers who are printing these dramas is it not? they do report some facts but more than most they print crap full of false stories. i don't know the truth but IMO believing the papers is like believing a chinese whisper.......especially the DR.
  2. so the papers say, is this actually true or just another way of saying we're not signing him?
  3. I don't like beattie as a player and he seems a right dick as a person but we've been linked to quite a few players and we will continue to be up to the end of the window i'm sure. We can't do anything the simple way can we
  4. is he not in the last year of his contract, so might be a year loan deal and if he does well a permanent contract, unless he does really well and moves elsewhere
  5. 17 games and 1 goal i think..........
  6. lets hope so Frankie, he doesn't excite me either!!
  7. RANGERS are on the brink of making Tommy Smith their first signing for TWO YEARS. SunSport can reveal that the SPL champs last night met Portsmouth's £1.5million valuation for the frontman. And boss Walter Smith hopes to get the nod this morning to open talks with one of his top targets. Gers had an initial bid rejected by the cash-strapped Championship club in the close season. SunSport was first to reveal their interest in the versatile attacker two months ago. But they have now increased their offer and could land Smith ahead of the SPL kick-off against Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday. The move for the former Watford attacker - who can play out wide or through the middle - WON'T effect the big-money move for Rapid Vienna hitman Nikica Jelavic. Gers gaffer Smith is still keen to overcome the final hurdles and land the Croatian star. But the move for English forward Smith is likely to kickstart a late surge into the transfer window as Gers seek to bolster a wafer-thin squad. Gers have also been linked with Fratton Park team-mates David Nugent and John Utaka. But Smith was always the main target for his namesake and could open negotiations this morning on a move. The chase for Jelavic is still on hold after he left to join up with Croatia for tonight's friendly in Slovakia. His former side Zulte Waregem are due 30 per cent of any deal and it's believed Rapid are trying to get Gers to pay half of that direct to the Belgian side, leaving them to make up the rest. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3090176/Rangers-close-in-on-the-15m-signing-of-Portsmouths-Tommy-Smith.html
  8. done.........
  9. Rangers will tonight give a trial to Arsenal reserve Nacer Barazite in Belfast when they take on Glentoran in a glamour friendly at the Oval. And Light Blues coach Ian Durrant, who will bring the squad this side of the Irish Sea says the club have been tipped off as to the talents of the Dutch winger from an unlikely source. One-time boss of Old Firm rivals Celtic, Liam Brady who is now head of the Gunnersââ?¬â?¢ academy has given a glowing recommendation to Gers and they will run their eye over the 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Derby County, at the home of the Glens. The Rangers team will ultimately have an unfamiliar look to it, with many of the star turns on international duty, but as Durrant explains, it will be full of players who will be involved in first XI action at some stage this season, as the cash-stricken Glaswegians are forced to put more of an emphasis on youth than they have had to for some time. ââ?¬Å?The squad will be mostly made up of reserve players but it is still very strong and there are players here who have already, or will this season, play in the first team,ââ?¬Â Durrant told the Belfast Telegraph. ââ?¬Å?We will have a young lad on trial for us called Nacer Barazite who comes to us from Arsenal and was highly recommended by Liam Brady and that will be a good opportunity for us and the Rangers fans in Belfast to have a look at him. ââ?¬Å?Another boy to look out for is a Polish lad, Kamil Wiktorski who is only 17 but he has a great future. ââ?¬Å?There are other lads who have been in and around the squad like Jordan McMillan and Kyle Hutton who will be there and itââ?¬â?¢s great for us to get a tough test against Glentoran. ââ?¬Å?These boys are the future of Rangers. It used to be that we would throw the cheque book about and buy players when we felt like it, but thatââ?¬â?¢s not the case anymore, and that means that these young lads will have a great chance of breaking into the first team.ââ?¬Â And Durrant isnââ?¬â?¢t taking the game lightly, with Glentoranââ?¬â?¢s new 4-3-3 formation seemingly even making waves over in Scotland. ââ?¬Å?We had them watched by our scout at the weekend against Distillery and had a look at their formation, so weââ?¬â?¢ve done our homework,ââ?¬Â he added. ââ?¬Å?Itââ?¬â?¢ll be a great night for us and for Glentoran hopefully and I personally always love going to Belfast. ââ?¬Å?We know we have a massive support in Northern Ireland and itââ?¬â?¢s important that we come over because so many people make the trip over to watch us so often.ââ?¬Â Tickets for the game are still available priced at Ã?£20 for grandstand, Ã?£10 terracing and can be purchased at SS Moore, Chichester St Belfast; Glentoran Superstore, Connsbrook Shopping Centre; The Lane, Orangefield Lane; Spar Ravenhill Rd, Belfast; Westbourne GSC, Newtownards Rd, Belfast; Dawson's Newsagents, Belmont Rd Belfast; Maxol Frances Street Newtownards.
  10. i don't think it's true and i can't see him going down south again when the main reason he came back was to be near his family was it not?
  11. exactly Ian, chelsea have lost 4 on the bounce but I still think they will be challenging for the EPL title.........
  12. 2 years i think......
  13. Boyd could've been a legend with us if he stayed. He done great for us though but has now moved on. Good luck to him but IMO he will struggle to score half the goals he did up here in the team he is at, and I don't think they will go up anytime soon. Maybe he will prove me wrong only time will tell.....
  14. i've also seen it's pay at the gate so sales must not be good, sure i heard there was about 30k sold but could be wrong. let the kids in free if you charge that price at least........
  15. i'd rather play a youngster than sign the likes of him sorry, he's not good enough and I certainly don't believe we're 'only' in the markets for players like him these days........
  16. decent player but not any better than what we have just now ....no thanks..
  17. you never said that in your other post, you just said why are they having friendlies in Sep and it's because they start their african nations the same time as we do the euros. are players not allowed to be tired he didn't go into the world cup match fit and is now probably paying for that. some players take much more pride playing for their country than others. they play for quite a few different teams in their career but only one country if they are lucky enough. if boogie doesn't show up for the first game of the season and continues to take the piss in the others then the fans can quite rightly get on his back but i'll wait and see what happens first before i judge him. he's one of our best players and hope he stays.
  18. They start their africans nations 2012 qualifiers in September the same time as most european teams start theirs for euro 2012. he's getting some unfair critisisim for wanting to play for his country here IMO. He's one of the best players for his country so why would he not want to play when called upon?
  19. lets hope so and we get him as he looks quite decent from what i've seen of him ...........
  20. I for one hope one of our best players stays ............
  21. he's got every right to go play for this country, don't see a problem here unless he doesn't come back in time of course....
  22. what ginger come out with, at least they won the game, we can go far in the europa league, or we'll concentrate on the league http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/8879165.stm "At half-time we just asked the players to win the game and I thought we deserved to win." http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3082683/We-can-still-do-a-Fulham.html SCOTT BROWN wants Celtic to bounce back from their Champions League agony by going on a Fulham-style Europa League glory run. "I don't think the Europa League is a more realistic level for us. We showed tonight that we can beat Braga on our day and at home I think we can beat ANYBODY on our day. you've gotta laugh at them
  23. the tims are looking great at the back as usual
  24. The majority say one year left, i've only seen it printed once that it was 2 years.
  25. you are correct, but i think he means just because he wasn't great in the WC he is a bad player. I don't know much about him or have seen him play for his present team but who's to say he wouldn't do well for us if we signed him?
