Again totally disagree with most of what you say but it's all about opinions. He was IMO a good player for us and did his job well which was defend well, we never conceded that many his first season so he must've been doing something right for a not so good player . He played a big part in helping us win the SPL, he played most of the games that season and scored a few goals as well.

Gers Invest £3million On Stadium Upgrades
johnnyk replied to Rangers Football Club's topic in Rangers Chat
Good stuff, I don't care who pays, it's just good seeing things are getting upgraded. -
Totally disagree, he was a good player and done very well for us and the majority of Gers fans I know have the same view. I'm sure he won the Rangers Player of the Year award in his first season with us, not bad for someone you say wasn't very good. Keep Believing............

Good Gers man but not really been great for Newcastle and I'm with Frankie he's well past his best. He would still want a big wage so not really worth it.

Lee Wallace will join today: OFFICIAL Wallace signs five year deal

One of the few good Scottish left backs around, good player and can only improve, I think he will do well for us if he signs. -
Plenty of cops there to keep him company Ian
-
And we can also beat them over the two legs without a doubt, guess we'll find out soon enough.
-
OK maybe not 'well' past his best but certainly past his best and again IMO Gazza. I watched a hell of a lot of Serie A last season (as I did with the EPL, La Liga and Bundesliga) and thought Gattuso actually played quite well last season (couple of cracking goals as well) but nothing to the standard he was at before he got injured. He is much slower which doesn't help when he is late in tackles and he had a few bad ones last season. I doubt he would get away with that much here as the refs would be watching every tackle from him with his reputation and IMO he would be suspended a lot in the SPL.
-
Gattuso is well past his best and although I like the guy I wouldn't want him back. He's not going to change his style of play and would be in the stands more than playing for us I reckon and would be another the media and other teams would love to hate which wouldn't help him or us IMO.
-
I would hate to be as pessimistic as you Gazza
-
Never have and never will at pre season games. If these results continue into the SPL then of course but nothing to worry about IMO as has been proved in many a year gone past.
-
We certainly need a new centre half and more full back cover, I love Sir Davie Weir but we need better and younger. Same goes with McCulloch I hope I am proved wrong as I do quite like him also but we have seen the best of him and he should be a squad player at best although I'm sure he will do OK in the SPL when played but in Europe I doubt it. I am not panicking yet but the SPL starts soon and we need to get off to a good start for everyone's sake, we need new players in now Rangers.
-
But didn't they say it wasn't just about what was being sung but the 'context' in how it was sung and also depends on the police in charge? So basically they can lift you for anything they want depending on how they see it!

Free RangersTV for (renewed) season ticket holders has started

also works fine for me -
it's not taken you that long Gazza to get back to your usual pish about Lafferty  We need him fit in the squad all season, hope he recovers soon.

Maybe they just know you're loaded Ian -
it's from here, lot of crap IMO..... http://www.rangers.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=523901 And if you believe the other rumours or news, Weiss has tweeted he won't be back at Ibrox (i'm not a tweeter) and Goodwillie is in Cardiff holding talks

From the BBC. Although the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, domestic transfers between clubs in the same association (eg England or Scotland) can take place as soon as a club completes its last competitive 2010/11 fixtures. However, many transfers or signings, although agreed and announced at this time, will not formally go through until 1 July because the majority of players' contracts expire on 30 June.

I think you are being unfair, to me you've answered your own question, you said you stopped rating Edu last year so no matter how well or bad he has played you are not going to rate him which seems pretty silly to me. I might not have liked players in the past and there's been a few but I've always gave credit where it was due and some have even changed my mind. If you don't want to do this them fine but if you're never going to change your mind no matter how someone plays then what's the point in slating someone all the time?
-
To me it just gets boring when the same people attack the same players and managers online yet give hardly no credit when they do well. Doing it once or twice fair enough but it's like it's personal to say 'I'm right I told you he's crap' when someone has a bad game or the team plays the wrong tactics and we get beat. If it was that easy we'd all be top class footballers and managers
-
You're fishing right gazza? Some of the crap that was said about Walter after we got beat sometimes was embarassing surely you must admit that! Then the usual players such as McCulloch, Lafferty, Edu etc can't even have a bad pass without getting slated by some on here, and it's usually from the same people. I don't care who doesn't like/rate who but as soon they have a bad game they get slated, they don't get as much praise when they play well.
-
I wouldn't have thought he'd have much say at all apart from as you say maybe giving what he thinks the player is worth but is it just a guess? I would think he has told him he is one player he really wants so maybe they will pay a bit more than they would like but then again it doesn't look like it. He will know the budget so if he wants other players then maybe he's been told if we paid this for A then you won't get B and/or C? Or maybe i'm talking crap He won't get in touch with DU asking them for a valuation or negotiating what we are willing to pay or can afford that's not his job. He just wants the player in his squad.
-
I think it's just he can't understand (like me) how a manager can get questioned without 1. playing a game and 2. for lack of transfers when it's not his place to sign players mate.
-
And so do the ones who post the stuff that's well over the top don't you think? Some of the negative stuff posted about certain players and especially one of the greatest managers we've ever had and what he did for us was shameful. There's nothing wrong if you don't like any player or manager but some comments get pretty bad.
-
I still don't see how you can start to judge a manager who's team haven't even played a single game yet, not even a friendly and who has been in charge for merely a month or so. The money side is not his area and all he does is give his chairman and now director of football a list of players he wants but you keep saying you don't believe this, why, do you know something we don't? If Walter was still in charge IMO these players still would not have signed for us.
