I disagree, watching Rangers in the last few years or more, we can't be doing much training on what I said earlier, corners, free kicks, movement when we've got the ball and when we've not got the ball, for me it's there to see and nothing has been done about it for years. Usually we can't beat the first man at corners, free kicks are hopeless 9 times out of 10, this has to be down to training? Or are you happy with our style of play, players commitment and set pieces etc? For someone to get £10k a week and they can't beat the first man at corners 9 times out of 10 is embarrassing is it not? I enjoy winning the league and cups as we all do but most of us will say it's not been enjoyable to watch but enjoy the results of course. I read about players staying back practising these at other clubs, maybe our players do it maybe they don't but they are not improving at all if they are, why not? People still go on about Kaunas so even if we win the league i'm sure this exit won't be a forgotten issue anytime soon. We probably should've won the 4 games we've played in Europe with our chances we've had, it's not good enough to miss so many chances in all 4 games, along with all the mistakes we made and keep making, we are not going forward as a club in Europe but are on a big decline while other nations are improving footballing wise much better than our nation is. I'm sure we will qualify for the Europa league again in the next few years but I don't know when I will see Rangers in the CL for years to come given the qualifying rounds we will need to go through and that is if we keep winning the league. Saying that I will keep going and supporting them

I've nothing against players diets and drinking, some obviously handle it better than others and if they perform well then they can eat and drink what they want. But if I was being paid as much as they are and could potentially earn more if you better yourself each season, and given that it could be a short career, I would certainly eat better and drink less and train harder to do the best I could.

Maybe other countries train longer than we do? Don't we only train for a few hours in the morning then players can go home or wherever? I would love to do what they're doing for a living but to have the best facilities available to you would be even better, I would make them train longer with a ball at their feet, practice corners, free kicks, moving off the ball both offensively and defensively it's not too much to ask for from these overpaid sport stars is it?

We only had 4 playing last night but the first game against Malmo we had 6 Scottish players starting and 5 on the bench. The return leg we had 5 starting and 4 on the bench. First game against Maribor we had 5 starting and 5 on the bench. This is basically half the team starting that is Scottish so I do think Scotland does have a problem and not much quality players and it's not just this season. As you said McGregor is a great keeper but didn't have brilliant games either. Broadfoot is not good enough IMO and makes too many mistakes, Lee McCulloch doesn't give anything really far too defensive, Whittaker cost us goals on both the Malmo games and potentially the tie in his sending off. Wallace wasn't great at both goals in the first Maribor game. Naismith wouldn't shut up and got himself subbed before he got sent off in the first Maribor game, I am not saying it's all their fault as it's not but most of out Scottish players are just not good enough in Europe anyway. Surely the way we coach these players and train them is a big factor on the way they are performing for us? I also think we have missed Davie Weir, we lost some poor goals in those games that don't happen too often when he is playing.

The coaching from a young age in this country is one the problems IMO. Teams tell young kids who are smaller size they won't make it, the big clubs sign up taller boys and play to their strengths, no wonder we don't see many skillful players around. The free sporting facilities in our country are shocking and from personal experience the coaching for young kids (SFA and an SPL team) was dreadful and I could honestly do better myself. The whole system needs revamped from a young age with better facilities or the mentality will never change and young kids who might've had skill will have this knocked out of them in coaching. You can also see the gulf in fitness from the likes of the EPL to the SPL, their players just look fitter, stronger, bigger and much much better, they can even pass to their own players

Haver you met the guy to say these things? Apart from his on field antics which he can't be proud of, I've heard lots of good things about him off the field. It's obviously personal for you but I don't know how people can totally judge someone when they don't really know them or have never met them. On his playing side he is not going to improve us but he's had nothing but good things to say about our club and I wish him all the best.

Unless Arsenal buy quite a few quality players they won't even make the top 4 IMO. Wenger had the chance to create a great team there but by not buying experienced players when he should have are on they way down and won't win nothing with the kids they have.

well done the saints great result..........

@BBCAlLamont Alasdair Lamont McCoist says he's still looking to strengthen squad, and is considering 3 or 4 options in terms of forward players. #Rangers

Short on transfer news to talk about then I take it I have to agree with others saying a players fee who's contract is running down should be getting less and less each day
-
He looks like he has pace but i've rarely seen him take on and beat a defender and his crossing isn't exactly top notch, decent prospect but long way to go before he makes it. If he thinks he's that good and can get better elsewhere then let him go to a smaller club. I think he's been badly advised.
-
I'd certainly sell him now if it means more cash for somewhere else. We have Hutton, Ness, Big Jig, McKay? and even Bartley for the defensive mid spot/s.
-
McCulloch is of course experienced but he has been worse than Edu so far this season. Hutton IMO should be starting before both of them and although doesn't have great pace he can pass much better and can only improve.
-
IMO we have a few youngsters that are good enough to play in the first team and play regularly for us, Fleck, Hutton, Ness, Wylde and even McMillan. Hemmings looks a very good prospect but I don't see why he should start games in front of the strikers we already have. If we are leading by a few goals in games then bring him on to give him more experience. The others I would have no problem in putting them on from the start. The whole team is not going to be full of youngsters but a good mix of them and older experienced players.
-
There's many a good player who have never set foot in Europe far less play in it. He has played in Korea and China also. From what i've heard he is a late developer and have again only read good things about the guy, as Zappa said could be a cracking bit of business.

I've only read, heard and saw good things about him, very good in the air and not to shabby on the deck either, fingers crossed we get him.....

Steven Whittaker 'filled with regret' after show of dissent
johnnyk replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
It sure is, but it certainly doesnt help the team or create a good atmosphere and I can't be bothered with fans like that. Ibrox is dead and I am just glad to be in the BO section.- 21 replies

Ian is just one the few optimists on here, he's a glass half full rather than half empty guy, although the way he drinks they're always empty He does cristicise players at the games believe you me but would always back the team, and club through thick and thin, and IMO we need more of these fans rather than most who go to Ibrox these days, sit on their arses, say nothing and expect a good game or goals galore and only wake up when a goal is scored- 21 replies

I back up Ian here, virtually every time I've seen him play he has shown flashes of what he is capable off. He needs to be more consistent we all know that but he does have talent.
-
I'll take that, very positive we'll beat them fine, with 11 players on the pitch of course
-
He is still with Metalist Kharkiv in the Ukraine. Yes he was sent off twice last season but looked a decent player whenever I seen him play and would certainly improve our current team, but i'm sure we could do better.

In the world of football, are we now classed as a small club?
johnnyk replied to Gazza_8's topic in Rangers Chat
He can't do any worse IMO, but we need this changed all over the country from a young age and I doubt this will happen. Whenever I see some younger teams playing some of the coaches and parents are a joke, all they want is for their kid to be a good player and most of them don't give a toss about the other players or the team. The coaches always plays what he thinks is the best team (every week) leaving other kids out and hardly playing them, these kids then get bored and stop playing, it puts kids off. And all the coaches want to do is win at all costs, this should not be the case in young kids team, OK we all want to win but this doesn't help many young kids progress or become better players. -

I can't mind the last time I watched a SPL game outwith Rangers, they bore me to death and the way Rangers have played over the last few seasons I've even turned over to watch other games that were on at the same time. The SPL is dire and something needs to be done before it's just another Irish or Welsh league and it's not that far away with the standard we're at. At a young level we tell kids you'll never make it as you're too wee or not strong enough, we all know the best players are the smaller ones, good example is of course Barca but there's many more, as you say it's all kick and rush but this is coached into them at a young age , it's all about pressing players and running about like headless chicken, we need coaching with just footballs. Surely we have coaches and can create a set up within our national game to coach different things to young kids? We've been known about this for decades and nothing has been done and we've probably spent millions trying to improve our coaching and facilities but it's obviously not working. -
think i posted old news

IMO ever since Uefa decided to put more than one team from each league/country in the CL, teams such are ourselves in smaller leagues don't have much of a chance of getting anywhere near the latter stages anymore and the rich are just getting richer which is what they want and the rest they don't give a toss about really. Leagues starting at different times with different summer/winter breaks etc also doesn't help, in the first leg Malmo looked much fitter match wise and have played quite a few games in their league, that was always going to be against us. Clubs in England even in the lower leagues have so much money for wages, apart from a few clubs in the SPL no one can match them and as far as I am aware there are quite a few Scottish players in the Championship and below, and there is a few in the EPL also. We were fighting for a good prospect in Goodwillie but lost out, we couldn't match the wages or even their offer depending on who you believe. Goodwillie IMO will hardly get a game down south which will hamper his progress but it's his choice. The whole game up here needs to be revamped and rethought but we've known that for decades and nothing has been done about it in anyway.
