It will always be Ibrox to the fans if they did sell out for a new name. I am not for it but it would be an easy way to raise funds and can see why the business men are thinking about it.

Is Ally the Man for the job? - The McCoist Thread
johnnyk replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
I still think the fans will give their backing to the team home and away for most of the season if not all. We might see a small drop now and again (bad weather or holidays) but we will still get over 45k for most home games IMO. Only time will tell -

he won't walk away as you say, he won't be sacked by the sounds of it so looks like we're stuck until end of season at least. going to be a longer and harder season that I thought, or should be -
Don't often agree with you mate , but this is a joke of an excuse if ever i've heard one. There is no system for us, the players are lazy and look like the don't have a clue out there and the buck stops with the manager here.

This away defeat has been coming and looks like it won't get any better by the way we are playing. Still think we'll win the league but we should be well clear by now so it's worrying to say the least. Hopefully we'll get a decent manager in with new ideas/tactics to shake the place up which we all know is well needed.

Slightly concerned about feedback from Green's NI trip

I love a good sing song about Rangers, I don't mind if it's to do with religion or not as long as it's to do with Rangers. I love the sash, king billys walls, etc as I do love, every other Saturday, penny arcade, Wolverhampton town. I have had many great nights at Orange clubs and non Orange clubs. Some people always go to far but that's the case in anything IMO, and these are the ones who rarely go to the games. Different places have different views to religion and it's the way some are brought up be it good or bad. Our club does have protestant history and I see no reason why fans can't sing about it in some of the songs. I can see why some fans don't care about it if they have no interest in it and fair enough but it is there and always will/should be, again IMO. If some fans don't like it then don't sing the songs or (buy an orange rangers top) but I see no reason why they should complain when others do or want to. It's just my opinion and I know some won't like it but I see no reason to change it. -
League cup draw - Inverness Caley at home

They have no chance as the tims are a team full of world class players don't you know I was hoping they would get an away tie but who cares TBH. I wonder who will get the biggest crowd and what their excuses will be if they don't again -

both have done well for themselves but are not great players by any means, well not IMO and that's not because they played for the tims. Both don't have a final ball or didn't when I last seen them play and how they got £10m for mcgeady was astonishing. Why use the word genius if you don't think that? McKay can easily beat his man just now but his final pass/ball is poor but that can be improved on even at his age or at any age. He's not played that many games for us but has some potential, not many players actually like to run at other players these days they just pass sideways or backwards at least he is trying to get forward which I like, I just don't see the point in slagging young players who have hardly played for us, state their faults fair enough but to write them off doesn't make sense, and the fact you keep doing it gets a bit boring, for me anyway, so i'll stop replying the same stuff back.

He is 17 and playing for a big club albeit at a lesser level, he doesn't have the same quality the tim players you mentioned had to help them on their way which also helps and IIRC both those players didn't have the best outlay after taking players on that I can remember, maloney had his free kicks that was it but I don't rate Mcgeady but i've not seem him play since he left here, maybe he has improved but were they any better at 17? IMO I think he does have what it takes to be a good player and will get good enough coaching at Rangers to do that, he will hopefully learn from his mistakes and he can improve himself and not reply too much on coaches they can only so much to help. I understand you don't rate him but give the young boy a chance, no one is saying he is going to be a superstar here , why be so negative about a young player who will hopefully improve for us?

I would love to see an Orange strip being introduced again, would be a good financial income if done properly and maybe if they asked fans what style etc they would like. If you don't like it don't buy it. -
He needs to improve his passing and sometimes slow things down as you say but he goes past players easily which is a skill IMO and we don't have many willing to travel with the ball, I love to see that in any player and the more game time and good coaching (awaiting the replies to this) he could turn out to a good player.

really embarrassing for him, I don't understand why he's coming out with this or doing what's he's doing. He was loved by the fans now he's turning into a joke. -

Is Ally the Man for the job? - The McCoist Thread
johnnyk replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
I think we just want to see football played on the deck, especially at this lower level. We have supposedly better players than most other Scottish teams never mind the third division. We have signed players who were probably their teams best player last season in the SPL. I know it takes time to settle in to a new team etc but they have played in Scotland for a while. I don't know why we signed some of the foreigners before looking closer to home as they are taking time to settle in and some don't look that great TBO. We keep playing long balls from the back when it rarely works, why? This must be down to the manager and coaches but again he rarley changes things at all. I love Ally and have backed him and will continue to do so while he's manager but he needs to start getting the team playing decent stuff surely we deserve that and not the long ball game against much lesser opposition. We have backed the team big style and know the team should be playing better, with the right tactics and coaching we should be doing this or the fans will turn against them, as some have already. -
it the normal when a decent youngster comes through the ranks. He has and will have more bad games but seems to be doing OK so far, I love the way he runs past players easily even if it's at a lower level just now, he will get better the more he plays but hope we don't burn the boy out and as you pointed out he is being built up very highly after not many games for us, let hope he can handle it as some can't.

I agree with this, I do think there would be quite a few who would love the challenge of taking us back to the top and being apart of our history. Still don't think it will happen anytime soon though. -

After watching that last night if Ally doesn't get help in he will or should go soon. I obviously thought he was up to the job and in time could change but it's the same dross every week even though there are still factors for this, the football should be better with what players we have. Maybe I have just buried my head a little after what Ally has done for us through the summer etc but I have to now agree with others that he's not manager material, not yet anyway and not for us, we need and deserve better football. I still love the guy and won't lower myself to some of the usual comments about him but agree it's time for change but I can't really see it happening any time soon. -

I started going before the 9IAR era but all through the Souness and Smith years I can't recall many many games with plenty of empty seats, our supporters bus was always mobbed and tickets usually always got sold either on the bus or at the ground. I can also recall some mates who waited years for season books like GS said on waiting lists. I'm not saying there was not games with spaces but I wouldn't say there was that many. I can't ever remember fans turning their backs during the first Smith era and not much during his 2nd stint either. right off to the game i must go -

i'm sure bigger 'full time' teams from all over the world get beat by 'part timers' every season, look at the spanish, french and italian leagues to start with and i'm sure there will be some big upsets in there. we can't keep expecting to get 20k+ for every cup game we play this season, not even some or most EPL teams get that so why should we and with the times are dates changing all the time for TV the fans are the last they think about as usual. -
Again I disagree, and it's not excuses on my part but we have a decent team that's it, not many of these players would be playing for us at a higher level. Lower teams even though they are part timers have decent experienced players and younger players wanting to show what they can do doesn't mean they can't play decent stuff. We need to match them for the hunger and then as we do have fitter players and higher paid players we should be doing better and I think we will, again it's all been said before. Off topic so I won't say anymore on it here.

so you'd take a league win over playing good football

I have also already said it's a great chance to build something also but for some reason it's not going to happen or won't for a while but we don't really get a choice and never have in the past, doesn't mean we should all just moan and not get behind the team, but again I can see your reason for wanting more we all do I suppose. I think I will just browse this thread as i've said my piece a few times and everyone just keeps repeating themselves including myself I would say for the majority of fans silverware is the be all and end all, nothing else matters this is what teams play for to win trophies, I would rather do this than play like Arsenal and win nothing.
