Striker Boyd standing at crossroads in Rangers career
johnnyk replied to Jon's topic in Rangers Chat
sorry m8 and i know you like him but buffel and boyd both doing nothing up front doesn't inspire me, sorry to keep slagging buffel off but this doesn't make sense to me at all.........and don't tell me that buffel works his socks off or can stay in a game for long periods, if you do i'd love to see the evidence  boyd doesn't do much but scores goals for fun. I'd play naismith, novo, even gow well before buffel and these could all play beside boyd very well IMO I doubt buffel will get in the squad or even near it but i could be wrong only my opinion same as yours m8  -
Striker Boyd standing at crossroads in Rangers career

totally agree with that, superb stats he has, goals wins games and he can score them if he doesn't do much else, that's good enough for me.......but not for quite a few..... -
Nice flag Cammy, I like to see all kinds of flags at the games, football or country related. It would be a bit boring if all we had was saltires with RFC on them
-
i can't see it myself, the press as usual stirring it up. he was asked if he would join us he said yes, no one at Rangers has said anything and i can't see it happening..........
-
I would just like to note that ian1964 isnae an old man.......... He started playing for the juniors when he was 16 and I was about 10 We'll see how he lasts at the RST dinner in April.... All the best Ian cheers for the pie and bovril at the game the day.......................
-
i think the RST have addressed these points with Rangers so it's up to Rangers really but if the RST keep on at them which they seem to do they might get there and hopefully will. they seem to be our only hope with who we have in charge. if SDM sells on you would like to think they would be more forthcoming on these things but you never know!!

you can't say thomson has not improved over the last year and I think he can go on to be our next captain and a future Scotland star but again that's only my opinion. i also think naismith has what it takes but he needs to play more often and in the right position or we will waste players potentials. same goes with a few of our players with the likes of Whittaker, Smith, Gow, McGregor, Webster who I think can all and will improve given time and a fair chance. this season it's all about winning the league not how we play. everyone wants to see good flowing football but i'm sure they would take winning the league more.......... we'll agree to disagree then........
-
that's your opinion m8 fine but I don't agree with it no matter what you say our kids sorry young men will still improve IMO. So at 24 your saying that's the end of the line and you can't improve sorry I have to laugh at that m8. Look at what say Ian Wright did and even our own Dado Prso they came into the game late on in years and improved no end the older they got so your theory doesn't stand up to me sorry. I'd say there would be some size of list of players who have improved no end the older they've got. and the kids you've mentioned are all rare and exceptional talent and are already at the best teams in europe and if they don't improve there somethings not right.

That's your opinion m8 no problem, I don't really agree though. We have mostly young Scottish players who can get better IMO. I hate the long ball myself but until we have 1 or 2 (or more) good creative players, and certainly not the likes of buffel IMO, but much much better than him the long ball mainly is affective for us and most SPL teams and it has done OK this season for us so far. We do have the majority of players who can/would fit into the passing game IMO but we do need better players to start doing it but I don't think we need to buy a whole new team, just 1 or 2 players and take it from there. I am not looking for brazil 70 although we can dream
-
totally agree but it's a shame we have hardly seen it in his time here and IMO never will........we all know he can play but is so inconsistent it's unreal and not the guy you want when the chips are down .........we are top of the league, in a cup final, still in both other cups so even though we're not playing great passing football we're going in the right direction from where we were. IMO we will get better the longer we play together as it is quite a young team, that is unless we keep selling our best players and not replacing them
-
buffel not even quoted for the reserves now can't see him ever getting into the first team this season..........then hopefully it's bye bye for this underachiever.......
-
Boyd has not had much of a chance at this level to struggle IMO. Would like to see how many euro games he has actually played since he joined us, won't be many.......
-
after watching countless replays I think he got a touch, not a big touch but a touch.
-
we do deserve better and our scouts/coaches must have found/seen someone better than some of the players we have at a good price surely? You see other teams snapping up players for small-ish amounts these days which look better than what we have (although I know once we are interested the price goes up a bit) but surely we can get in class players better than some of the average ones we have.

RANGERS LOSE APPEAL ON MCGREGOR SENDING OFF Tuesday, 05 Feb 2008 Rangers’ Claim of Wrongful Dismissal on the sending off of Allan McGregor in the club’s Scottish Cup tie against Hibernian on Sunday has been dismissed. The player had been sent off by referee Craig Thomson for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity in a incident with Dean Shiels of Hibernian. In accordance with the provisions for Claims of Wrongful Dismissal, the referee is given the opportunity to review the circumstances of the sending off. Craig Thomson has indicated that he is content with his decision to send the player off. The Claim is therefore dismissed. Given the Scottish Cup has its own specific Disciplinary Procedures, McGregor will be suspended for the replay against Hibernian. http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/news.cfm?newsid=3613

Looks like Cousin played a whole game for Lens in the intertoto cup this season. If this is true and it looks like it is how can Bain get away with this? Surely this will virtually end the case and send cousin back to us? Legendary French coach Guy Roux has branded Rangers and Fulham "stupid" over their handling of Daniel Cousin's proposed £3m move to Fulham. Both clubs have asked Fifa to bypass their rules which state that a player cannot play for more than two clubs in any one season. It was believed that Cousin only played once for Lyons before his move to Ibrox, a 21-minute substitute appearance in a 1-0 defeat to Bordeaux at the start of August. However, it emerged that Cousin also played 90 minutes for Lens - managed by Roux at that time - against Ukrainian side Chornomorets in an InterToto Cup tie. He said: "What a waste of time. It annoys me that Rangers and Fulham are bothering Fifa with this. They are being stupid and to be honest, I feel they are wasting Fifa's time. "Everyone knows that Daniel played for us and Rangers. There is a great invention called the internet which makes it easy to check these things. "I'm sure most younger people are are more than capable of using it and it states clearly that Daniel played for us - not once, but twice." http://www.uefa.com/competitions/intertotocup/fixturesresults/round=15113/match=300831/report=lu.html

I always hate playing Greek and Turkish teams for some reason. We are more than capable of beating them as Frankie says but especially in Greece if we don't play well they can easily give us a doing IMO.........
-
The way he was treated was a disgrace IMO. Rangers got a great fee for him no doubt but the boy wanted to stay and said so, surely that's allowed? Them in charge made it clear they did not want him to stay no matter how much he did.
-
no news might be next monday they have said also......we're not a big enough club for them........

Rangers will formally appeal to the SFA to have Allan McGregor's sending off in the Scottish Cup 5th Round tie with Hibs at the weekend overturned. McGregor was red carded after referee Craig Thomson judged that he had fouled Dean Shiels on the edge of the box with minutes to go in the pulsating cup tie. The keeper clearly felt the decision as incorrect, claiming he reached the ball ahead of the Hibs man, and having reviewed video footage of the incident, the club have moved to have the red card rescinded. The SFA will make a final decision on the matter, with normal practice involving a video review panel consisting of former referees, players and coaches who analyse any available footage. If the ordering off is overturned, the Rangers number one will again be eligible to take his place between the sticks when the two sides meet again to replay the tie, on a date yet to be fixed by the SFA.
