A Statement from the RST...... TRUST CALLS FOR COMMON SENSE OVER RACISM SLURS The Trust is deeply disappointed that the club has failed to repulse a mischievous and politically-inspired campaign of vilification with regard to the “Famine’s Over” chant The club has failed to recognise that this campaign is orchestrated by extremist apologists for sectarian murder and is intended to smear both the support and club as racist. The “Famine’s Over” chant is quite clearly a typical football chant mocking the myths rival fans perpetuate about themselves and should be treated as such. The Trust condemns in the strongest possible terms the lies being perpetrated and the stupidity of public figures in dignifying them by their responses. The Trust has a long and noble record of fighting racism and sectarianism in all it’s forms and therefore speaks from a position of credibility and strength in rejecting these slurs. We further condemn all those whose bitter and twisted agenda seeks to wrongly portray Scotland as a hotbed of bigotry, contrary to all evidence, in order to damage both the country in general and Rangers in particular for their own narrow sectarian ends. By dignifying such ludicrous complaints the club has opened the floodgates to similar insincere campaigns in the future. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rstsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=228&Itemid=1

Too true m8, they are not daft....... Is every single song going to be scrutinised now or just our songs? It's a joke and our club just say OK we'll tell the fans to stop singing it but everyone else can still sing what they like.........
-
If someone wrote to the Irish Embassy regarding the songs they sing would they bring this up and ask Celtic to stop singing them or is it OK to freely sing about the IRA and FTQ etc? Rangers should be ashamed bowing to this but our club has had no leader at the helm for years...........
-
IMO he has an illness simple as that and he needs help. I'm not blaming bar staff etc but if I had a good friend with these problems i'd try and help him not ask if he wants to go on a 2 week bender knowing he will probably say yes then see him self destruct in front of me, and i'm sure the company he keeps are doing just that to him and more. I hope he gets the help he needs from people who do care about him as IMO he needs it big time.......
-
IMO with the company he is keeping he'll just keep falling of the wagon. He needs to keep away as they are not helping him and he needs help big time and he needs his true friends around him to get better and take control of his life again.......
-
C'mon we only had an average of 167mm of rain last month ffs
-
some cracking goals, I for one questioned walcott starting but he's shut me up big style............
-
well done big kirky.............
-
I said I don't mind them, not the same as liking them But TBO they don't really bother me one way or another. I wore a Rangers tartan kilt at my wedding that's about it I must admit, and there was no bagpipes there
-
I've only been to one Scotland game in my life and that was at Ibrox! I've always put supporting Rangers ahead of Scotland but of course always want Scotland to win and do well even if there are players and managers who I haven't liked. I can see where some supporters are coming from not giving a toss about them etc and I would certainly not call anyone doing so a traitor for not supporting them as it is their choice, a strange one IMO but its up to them surely. I hope we win tonight and qualify for the world cup but I personally don't think we will and Burley is my reason why. He had 1 great season as Gribz said with Ipswich but I just don't like the way he comes across or what he has done recently but that's only my opinion but I do genually hope he can help us qualify. I also don't mind tartan, kilts or bagpipes
-
It did help i'm sure. I think any colour associated with Rangers would be the only colours we would do this with. I can't see a green day being done no
-
Fair enough but how many of these supporters are Scottish that come up from down south? I'd say the majority. With the majority that come from NI being NI.
-
I really don't see any problem with celebrating this and if you say it's sectarian then I think you have a problem TBO. As has been said there has been a Scottish theme done before (and will again I'm sure) and also other country themes like Holland for Dick and our Dutch players so why not NI when we currently have players from there and have had a few in the past and some of our songs have words relating to there (you can't just scrub the history of our club) along with thousands of our supporters who are more loyal than many Scottish supporters. If other people and the press take this as sectarian then they also have a big problem. The press will say their piece of course but it's only to sell papers so they will twist it and call it sectarian as usual. Celtic can seemingly celibrate Republic days (I have no problem with this) and they get praised for doing so while we get the opposite.

Lee has quit Scotland, breaking news on SSN.............
-
agree very bad joke nothing to be proud off saying that. also agree they are nobody's and seems like they will do anything for a bit of publicity no matter how low they stoop!!
-
LEE McCULLOCH will refuse to play for Scotland again while George Burley is in charge. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/comment/columnists/sport-columnists/keith-jackson/2008/09/08/i-ll-never-play-for-burley-again-86908-20728747/

Never even watched it the day, heard some on the radio in the car but it sounded dreadful. I've said before we won't qualify under GB and there's a good chance we will finish last IMO.......
-
yeah my local one is the same full front windows with scum stuff, hardly any Gers stuff at all in the shop. I went in for a strip for my 3 year old, they had none and said they are waiting on stock from Rangers!
-
The more I hear him the more I think Scotland will go backwards now and struggle under him. I always hope we do well but I can't see us getting anywhere near qualifying for the world cup. Some of the squad picks have been pretty bad IMO..........
-
he was a wee bit worked up there
-
really ? he has virtually said since day one he wanted to play in the premiership and as soon as one club came in for him he wanted to go, he has got his wish good bye i say. if reports are true mccoist persuaded smith to play him on sunday, not a sign to me of making him feel unwanted if the assistant manager is vouching for you.

Rangers rejected a deadline day approach from West Bromwich Albion for midfielder Kevin Thomson. (Daily Record) Meanwhile, the Ibrox club are still hoping to offload striker Jean-Claude Darcheville and Brahim Hemdani even though the transfer window has closed. Rangers want to take advantage of the 'wild card' system in France's Ligue 1 which allows each club to register one player between September and December. (The Herald)

Cousin has been wanting to leave for any premiership team since he came here. Thanks for Sunday and goodbye. I wish some of our players had your ability but your attitude and commitment no thanks.....
