Middlesbrough submit £9m bid for Ross McCormack
johnnyk replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
You now see the likes of West Ham, Sunderland, Southampton, Newcastle, Aston Villa Swansea, and Stoke in the top 30 richest clubs in the world.... The money they get down south and the money they are spending on average players is ridiculous! http://ceoworld.biz/2015/01/21/30-richest-football-clubs-world-income-2015-real-madrid-top-list -
Transfer Deadline Day: Michael O'Halloran signs until 2020
johnnyk replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Again you have to trust the manager and scouting team which I do at present, i'm sure we will get bigger named signings that you look to be after but my head is certainly not stuck in the sand like you suggest just because I don't agree with you. At this time I am happy with our signing policy and the way we are heading, after all our troubles I wasn't expecting numerous million pound big name big wages signings like a lot of fans did or seem to like yourself. What do you say about past big money and big name signings we have made who have also played in front of big crowds but have failed at Rangers, and there have been plenty? Maybe young players will relish the chance to play in front of bigger crowds rather than flop! -

I can see your point but we are not going to be buying players from top clubs (I'm assuming this is what you would like?) or any clubs for big money for a very long time IMO, if ever! MW has done this at his previous clubs with success so why don't you think it would work here, where the top league here is at a lower level than probably even league one down south. Celtic don't have a great team or quality players like both our clubs used to have and they won't be buying top players either and haven't for a while. We seem to getting players MW has managed before or that he knows a lot about them as a player and personality to fit in to his team and style of play. The player from Accrington Stanley is only 17, most players at the age can be a gamble, MW must think it's one worth taking and he can turn him into a good player or he wouldn't be looking at him, we have to trust the manager and his scouting team, if he fails then he will be gone simple as that. I am really enjoying the football we are playing for the first time in years, yes sometimes it is frustrating but I do think it's so refreshing to see us try and pass the ball about (no long ball crap) , keep possession, creating bags of chances and we are scoring for fun most games. Most of the players we have are young and will learn and hopefully get better the more they play up here and together as a team, I can only see us getting better in everyway and with some more experienced players I think we will definitely challenge for number 55. I have no problems with being linked to well scouted younger players compared to some of the rotten overpaid so called big name players we have had over the last 4 years or so. -

I agree the board was also to blame but Ally signed overrated overpaid players from when we were in the 3rd tier all the way up to the championship which was totally wrong IMO. His style of football was dire not only to watch but I'm sure it was to play that way at the levels we were playing at also. Yes the players need to take blame but the manager signed them and failed miserably. If we had a decent "manager" from the start I still believe we would be playing in the top league this season. I still like McCoist so it's nothing personal from me but he was not a good manager or even a manager IMO. I will leave it there as it's going off topic -

I think If we had appointed any decent manager in 2012 we would be playing in the Premiership this season. -
I've not watched it for years, just so boring and unoriginal , not missed much from what I've heard
-
You would think it was bricks that they were throwing going by these reactions jesus, as others pointed out some took it as a bit of fun, except their keeper!
-
I wonder what's the stats are of someone losing an eye at a football due to a paper plane being thrown? It's probably the same as someone losing an eye from being poked accidently form the guy standing next to you holding a card up and waving it in your face, both very unlikely to happen IMO. As I said it was immature yes but it's just a bit of fun again IMO,
-
I looked at it as a bit fun Craig, there's lots of younger guys in this area but I really don't see the problem like you do! As I said annoying yes, immature well yes, bit of fun yes, dangerous no, I think that's the point I was trying to make.
-
As Ian said it must have been annoying but that's about it surely! The keeper could have made a joke about it rather than complain numerous times to the ref as he just made things worse after that. Looking back he must feel pretty stupid to complain about being hit, or nearly hit, by a paper ball

It's all about opinions Gribz, you probably still think Buffel and Sebo are legends
-
I'm pleased with both yesterdays signings, good young players with potential although I've not seen much of Kiernan but I trust the management team. I'm feeling more positive about the team than the last few seasons already

Daly along with the likes of Boyd need the service to score goals as they can't create them. We didn't have good enough players to give them pinpoint crosses to their feet and heads. Both have no pace and if they don't get good service they are useless!

Moneyball - Can statistical scouting be used by Rangers?
johnnyk replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
It was a very good film and it might be worth looking into! Maybe this along with using the FM database of players could be useful -
I think we could quite easily sell between 35k and 45k season tickets and we won't be far away IMO, our fans have been quite remarkable in times of need and this is another one of those times so I am expecting nothing less. After the last 3/4 years we now have people in charge who at last look like they have the clubs best interest at heart compared to the vultures and parasites of before. I for one will be going back after a season missed and I won't be waiting on the appointment of a new manager or seeing what players we sign, I have trust in this board to take us forward.
