  1. Is that ALL you do during the week, or do you also work full time??? These players are being paid to be FULL TIME footballers. Against Forfar, the commentators stated that they train 2 nights a week (Tue & Thurs). The Forfar players also have to work for a living, so while our boys were relaxing @ Carnoustie, some of there players would be cleaning out blocked drains, delivering post, working in an office etc ie. working FULL TIME, then playing football. I for one found it difficult @ times to tell which team was the full time one. IMHO, the players should be @ MP from 9 til 5. Obviously they can't do physical activity ALL the time, but there are plenty of other things they could be doing - match analysis, tactics etc.....even just spending time together as a group.
  2. If anyone is looking for links between Graham Wallace & anyone connected to RFC.....;the most likely link is to Alastair Johnston via IMG media, where Johnston is a director.
  3. Imagine what the performance would have been like if they stayed at a Premier Inn....
  4. The luxury pre-match preparations looked to work wonders last night - looked like 1/2 team hadn't fully woken from their mid afternoon nap..... Sitting on a bus for 2hrs before a match shouldn't have any effect on the players - it wouldn't do them any harm to "slum it" every now & then....
  5. Regardless if the league position etc....the non-playing wages needs reduced. The company as a whole needs streamlining. Processes need to be reviewed, and positions cut where appropriate. Hopefully this is what Wallace is doing at the moment....at the end we should have a sleeker company structure, that is more able to move the club forward. We are regularly getting crowds of 40k+....how are backroom jobs going to change because we are back in the premiership??? They are not suddenly going to be inundated with masses of paperwork/invoices etc....
  6. as a stand alone cost, it probably ain't that much.....but apply it over the course of a season & you get a pretty hefty hotel bill. Also, it ain't some "poxy hotel".....it is a very luxurious 4/5 star hotel, all so that the players can get a wee nap after their sub-2hr bus journey.
  7. Exactly what I have been saying in another thread....
  8. I never said the manager wasn't important.....
  9. I do tend to agree with this..... According to Google maps, Forfar's ground is a whopping 1hr 48mins away (ground to ground)......why do they need to stay in a plush 5* hotel before the game??? They ain't exactly gonna suffer jet-lag!!!! It's an unnecessary expense....
  10. You have to remember that there are another 11 players out on the pitch that have a say in how the game is played..... The most important thing is that the team keeps winning. Playing great football is pointless if you don't score more than the opposition. What happens if we play amazing one-touch fast flowing football, yet only win 1-0 - would the fans be happy???
  11. we also need a certain level of player to ensure a swift return to the top division.... Would fans be happy with a £2m player wage bill, but stuck in the Championship for 2-3 seasons???
  12. In a word YES!!! The infrastructure should have been trimmed down considerably when we went into Administration - it didn't happen. If you keep the back-office setup lean, yet efficient, you are then freeing up extra cash for other parts of the business. Trim it down to the bare-bones, then if we need to re-hire for certain positions later on, then so-be-it.
  13. I don't know exactly where the cuts need to happen....coz I don't know the numbers of folk in each dept. For example....if a certain dept has five members of staff, could it still be run effectively @ our current level with 3 or 4 folk??? Do they all need to be working full time??? Are there folk earning a wage, but not pulling their weight - clear out any deadwood. Refine internal procedures to make things more efficient, with possibly less staff. Employ enough folk to keep the club running lean, yet effective. Directors have left, but we also have replacements.... We are a company with a £19m turnover, with a £10m office wage bill....operating in the 3rd tier of business.....
  14. POLICE BRUtALLITY......5 officers to arrest 2 fine upstanding youths..... ;)
  15. I'm pretty sure that are plenty of surplus positions within the club that could easily be trimmed down. It is the club infrastructure that is the real problem - that is where the re-structuring needs to take place....streamlining of internal functions etc....
  16. How do you know the 1st team was the 1st port of call??? It is the first that we know of....
  17. According to the last accounts, did not spend just over £10m on non-playing wages.....that is where the real cost cutting MUST be made.....
  18. Here's a thought about Brian Stockbridge.... Ian Hart is the latest of ex-directors to come out in support of BS, saying that he wasn't the one in direct control of the costs - he wuz doin' what he wuz telt.... Now, either these folk have been briefed on what to say after they have left/been forced out, or it may be the truth. According to Hart:
  19. Since the club came out of admin/liquidation/newco stuff, folk have been constantly slating the board about the wages paid to players being too high....now they are getting slated for trying to reduce the wage bill without releasing players - they cannae win!!! I would like to think reducing players wages will be one of a number of scenarios that Wallace will be looking to implement - it is the one that will have the most immediate impact. Give the guy a chance to do his job, and not scrutinise/criticize every move he makes, especially when we have virtually no 100% reliable information.
  20. Ultimately, it doesn't appear to be the playing budget that is the problem....was the entire wage budget not something like £18m in the accounts??? £10m on other staff wages.....that is excessive. That is the area that MUST be looked at. However, this is not the are that the media are interested in. They will focus all attention on the playing staff. There is nothing stating whether the 15% was across ALL staff or whether it was just playing staff.
  21. The big problem we have (as I've said before), Rangers are not a 3rd tier team. They do not have a 3rd tier infrastructure.....and they certainly don't have a 3rd tier fanbase or turnover. Someone previously stated that our player wage budget was something like 35% of turnover - how does that compare to other teams in our league??? Aberdeen for example have a 60% wages to turnover ratio (this looks like it includes ALL staff) (http://www.afc.co.uk/staticFiles/de/b9/0,,10284~178654,00.pdf) Folk are complaining that we need to cut players (and wages), yet those very same folk are wanting to see something better on the pitch - you can't have it both ways. You can't cut the 1st team wage bill while investing in the squad at the same time. What happens when we hit the top division again??? We need to have something resembling a top tier infrastructure & players already in place....if not we run a real threat of being relegated. If we are to start cutting players & reducing the "quality" that we currently have....how much would we need to spend in order to secure our place in the SPFL??? How many players would we need to bring in???? Would we have the cash @ that point to enable us to do that??? I get the impression that folk are looking a wee bit too short term. Also remember that there has been no official indication that any cuts MUST come from the playing budget....
  22. At the time....I'm sure it was!!! He bought them @ the price he was offered....
  23. The above transactions have only directly effected the club in one way - positive. When Hughes invested initially, the cash went straight to the club. When he sold, the cash came from the seller to Hughes. The way the above (while the content is technically correct) is written, it gives the impression that Hughes has somehow done the club out of cash, or has cost the club cash....neither of which is true.
  24. It would probably be easier for them to get another team (& therefore a game) if they were free agents. Teams may not want to pay a fee for them, or sign pre-contracts.....however a free agent is a different prospect - a club could offer a short-term contract till the end of the season.
  25. Re. the appointment of Nash.... Could it be that he is maybe being lined up a s a replacement for Stockbridge??? Maybe he has stipulated that he wants to see the FULL extent of any issues before committing to the role - hence the consultant role. He comes in to "consult" then based on what he sees decided whether to take a permanent position, with Stockbridge standing down.
