last I heard it was £10m to £5/6m in favour of the non-playing staff....
-
Our playing & non-playing wage budgets should be revered IMHO....
-
Aye...Jig will get done!!!!
-
So, you want a massive influx of cash to possibly fund a bloated corporate infrastructure??? We are still spending approx £10m on non-playing staff per annum. I hope part of GW's review looks at the various departments etc and clears out any deadwood. I don't like seeing folk loose their jobs, but if it results on a leaner, fitter corporate structure it's worth it!!!!
-
....a wee dig @ certain Ceptic players????
-
Can dis-agree with that - a balanced approach is what is required. It is worth pointing out though that the arrangements with Laxey/Easdale/Letham has been described as a "credit facility" rather than a loan - there is a difference.
-
Inconsistencies or changing landscapes???? There are some who don't seem to understand that situations change & therefore plans that were in place 3-4 months ago, may not be relevant now. When this happens, the board are seen as inconsistent. The biggest issue for me is that 99.9% of the folk commenting on the clubs business practices etc have absolutely no insight or access to the day to day workings of the club - it is all based on media reports and opinion passed as fact. The fact (as per interim accounts) is that the club has made a £3.5m loss for the 1st 6 months, compared to £7m for the previous year - That's a good thing surely. Yet I'd put money on folk/media still commenting about "the board losing £1m per month". I think a good number of folk need to take a few steps back and re-assess things based on FACTS as officially presented by the club & sometimes apply a touch of common sense.....
-
very true....but at what point to a large section of fans actually allow them to do their job without constant criticism???? As it stands at the moment the current board can't seem to fart without a message board/forum somewhere commenting on it. Folk are convinced 110% that mystery shareholders are pulling the strings, yet (IMHO) there is no concrete evidence of this happening. Certain shareholders have given Mr Easdale proxy voting rights, but voting rights doesn't necessarily run a club day-to-day. The only shareholder with apparent direct access to the board is Laxey/Crichton. With the 120-review, it is the CEO/boards roadmap for the way forward. I hope that it is positive & that sections of the fans are able to see past their opinions of the board/shareholders etc and actually allow the folk tasked with running the club the space to do it.
-
Regardless of the content of the 120-day review, there will always be a large section of fans that will find fault.....and there will be a large section that will be encouraged by it. If GW states that a share issue will happen next week, there will be those crying "what about this week???" What needs to come out of the review is a clear & concise way forward for the club - a sound business plan. That alone will attract investment. As for building an SPL capable side....the Board over the last couple of season have allowed the management to sign some of the SPL's top players - we already have to level of players to compete at the top end of the SPL (on paper). The key thing will be how these players perform against the country's "top" teams - will they & the manager be able to step up their play & tactics???

I've maybe missed something, but most probably the journo missed something....He's talking about up & coming cup competitions - Last I checked Ceptic weren't in any now!!! I'm guessing it meant to read "Ceptic Park showdown" As for the Ramsden's cup....we will be in it next year & doing our best to win it (again...)
-
and didn't Craig Moore recommend Matt McKay..... The ex-players could definitely come in useful for identifying potential targets, but we still need skilled/experienced scouts to travel in order to get proper reports.....

While there is deadwood in the playing side of things, the player wage budget ain't a massive problem - its approx £6m. The non-playing wage budget is approx £10m....There must be an awful lot of office staff on particularly high wages!!!!
-
from my understanding, the RFFF was setup to help the CLUB.... What IF the vote goes in favour of helping Mr Houston, then Mr Easdale wins???? The £200k goes straight into Mr Easdale's pocket - how does that help the club???
-
What are folk expecting/hoping from the accounts???? I would hope that we'll see a decrease in expenditure - especially in the non-playing side. There is still likely to be month on month loses, but if they are decreasing there is certainly hope moving forward.
-
I think King would look to underwrite it..... As to WHEN....I think it may even happen as early as the start of the season - depending on what Mr Wallace reports in his review.
-
This will NEVER happen. The best that will happen is that the board (probably via the 120-review) will confirm that they plan to have another share offering. If they come out & state that King is going to snap up the majority of the shares himself, that could then put off other possible investors. IMHO, this could be just another stick to beat the board with. It puts an expectation into many fans heads, then when the board don't do it, they are in the wrong.
-
but the team hasn't improved any...some would argue it's got worse!!! The big question is....How much of those millions will actually stay in the club & how much will go to Mr Desmond???

They are spending 5 times what we are, and where has it got them this season??? Humiliated in Europe, and out of both domestic cups. Granted they have won the league which will give them a shot at the CL next season which will boost their coffers if nothing else. We should concentrate on our own spend & our own team - for their wage budget, Ceptic are nothing special.

Before a single penny is spent on ANY new players, a credible scouting system needs to put in place, otherwise we will end up spending over inflated fees/wages on mediocre players who are signed because we have no other options. You don't need to spend big to get decent players....spend wisely!!!! Also a good hard look at some of the youths already @ the club. Any new player coming in MUST be better than what we already have, otherwise what's the point in signing them at all. A trust in some of these players is also needed - if they're good enough, they're old enough!!!

bottom line is.....you never know how good/bad a manager will be until he starts working with the players - look @ Moyes!!! McInnes has been touted as a promising manager....did anyone REALLY expect him do do as well @ Aberdeen as he has??? Big things were expected of PLG, that never really materialised Terry Butcher did well @ Caley, so far not impressed @ Hibs Davies track record may fluctuate, but he may turn out to be the next Mourinho/Fergie for RFC.....he may also turn out worse than McCoist.
-
This whole thing could be very similar to the sectarian chanting/singing & banner displaying at grounds..... If the club has demonstrated that they have taken appropriate measures to prevent such actions, they are generally not held accountable. If Mr Houston can demonstrate that he took appropriate measure to ensure the no offence was caused through the SoS FB page, then I feel he has a good case. If he ignored the warning from SE's lawyers and continued to permit offensive material, then he could be in a sticky situation. I do agree with Mr Houston that it appears to be a witch-hunt from Mr Easdale - I'm pretty sure an awful lot worse has been repeatedly said on many other forums/FB pages.

100% agree....however, that will take time. The key is - is this guy better than what we currently have??? I think Faure has done well @ CB when played there. As others have also said, seeing more of Gasparotto in a competitive environment would be beneficial.

and possibly just talking to the board - maybe they have shown King what their plans are, and what the financial situation is currently. As a result, it has calmed his fears!!! Also, maybe he's just biding his time, knowing that the review will fall flat....
