  1. Perry certainly appeared in a couple of the pre-season training photos....
  2. Don't disagree..... However, McCoist targets the players. It's then up to the board to actually acquire that players services, and is certain instances paid over the odds - to ensure the manager got his player!!! So what were the board really to do - McCoist says "I need Black in order to ensure promotion". Do they say "no, he costs too much" and risk promotion, or pay more to secure his services and hopefully the much needed promotion. If they didn't get the player, and didn't get promoted everyone would be saying that the board didn't support the manager by bringing in the required players. When Black etc were brought in, they HAD to provide some sort of encouragement - we were in the bottom tier of Scottish football. Essentially the board(s) have done what was needing by the manager. If these players are not performing etc, it is not down to the deal done by the board, but by the manager.
  3. However it was done, I'm pretty sure Coisty would be rewarded - either with cash, shares or something else.
  4. I'm not so sure TBH.......Coisty was quite happy to take a £800k annual wage in the 3rd division.
  5. Out of interest....does anyone know what sort of money the likes of Stuart McCall or Derek McInnes are on??? I would hazard a guess that its a lot less than £400k+ a year!!! Over the past couple of years the board have actually supported the manager pretty damned well - how many players has McCoist been allowed to bring in??? Is it the boards fault that McCoist identifies mediocre players to sign??? Are the current board the ones to bring the business side back to the top table - I don't know. Is McCoist the manager to bring the football back to the top table - NO...
  6. I think the ban is FAR too lenient.....remember this is not a 1st offence, but his 3rd!!!! As pointed out somewhere, the £66k fine is about 3 days wages - pocket money to him. 1st month of his ban would probably see him doing very little playing anyway. He missed 9 Liverpool league matches & 3 CL/Euro matches - he could have missed that many with a pulled muscle. However, Gordon Strachan was right on the money last night when asked about it......Suarez is too valuable an asset for much more to happen. He brings cash into the game, plain & simple. Liverpool will stand behind him & the fans will most likely cheer him onto the pitch on his return. He'll score a couple of goals and everything will be forgotten about....till the next time. Would the situation have been different if it was a lesser known player....I very much think so. If it had been a Costa Rica player (for example), and a 3rd offence, he'd be gone from professional football.
  7. Cream always rises to the top....sometimes it just takes a little longer than planned.....
  8. Helps to reach the long punts into the box....
  9. I think having Hearts & Hibs in the league will work in our favour in this regard. We will be up against professional teams every week - the players must make sure they are prepared for that. Simply winning a game should never be enough for RFC. We must show the SPFL sides that we are a team to be feared!!!!
  10. so, round up the required 5% (ithink) of shareholders and call an EGM with the sole purpose of voting on the issue...... If the required percentage is obtained to get an open share issue, DK will get his chance.
  11. I see no issue with the 4-2-3-1 formation - if it is used correctly!!! Part of our problem has been that the 3 advanced midfielders have generally sat too deep, effectively giving us a 5-man midfield. This is fine when the team is under pressure from the opposition, they have been too slow pushing back up the pitch in support of the main striker. We saw some glimpses last season that it could work VERY effectively. On these rare occasions the whole team tended to sit higher up the pitch, putting all the pressure on the opposition.
  12. Ultimately, it's not the board who will block DK share investment.....it's the current shareholders. The board are only acting on their behalf. If the shareholders don't vote for a share issue, how is DK gonna invest his cash???
  13. What was required was not just a rebuilding of the team, but a rebuilding of the club structure & ethos. We have heard/seen for years that it's difficult to bring through young players due to the pressures of either having Ceptic chasing us, or us chasing them. For the past couple of season, we've not had that pressure. We have had an opportunity to look had how we structure our team, how they play and how the approach each game. All this without the previous pressures/stresses. Yet, the structure hasn't changed. We still appear to want to buy players, rather than promote from the ranks. We have had some youngsters appear as subs in a couple of games...put in decent performances then disappear for weeks. Once we are back in the top league, and generating top tier cash, it will be business as usual - paying over the odds for average players which in turn generates massive wage bills. We will throw loads of money at players hoping to improve things, yet still fail to excite So where does the problem lie??? IMHO, it is with the backroom staff that are running the show @ MP. 1st team coaches, youth coaches etc all have a part to play. They need to formulate a football structure & get the youngest players playing to that structure. Keep it the same through the various age groups all the way to the 1st team. That way it is clear to all who will make the grade & who won't. Young players will be able to slot into the 1st team without issue, their roles/positions will be clearly defined. This is what should have started 2 years ago.....
  14. Having the funds is one thing....parting with them is another thing altogether!!! I believe that DK has the wealth to buy the club 5 times over, but he didn't get that wealth by throwing his cash away. The less he has to spend to gain control @ Rangers, the better it is for him.
  15. The big question is - Is what he has said to the public, exactly the same as what he said to the board??? Or have some key words been amended slightly??? Granted £30m is a lot of money to put aside - How much has DK actually put aside to strengthen his argument??? He allegedly has the cash sitting about about & is eager to invest it in RIFC, so why not put something into an account - £10m maybe - then he can say "there it is, if you want it these are my terms..."
  16. Did Dave King walk into Ibrox and place a cheque for £30m+ in front of the RIFC board, only for them to rip it up??? I don't think so. I get the impression that the discussions were not a clear cut as some folk are making out. I think DK has mentioned that he could possibly raise £30-50m if no other options were available. For that he would most likely something hefty in return. The board are most probably not wanting to meet DK's return requirement Without actually sitting in on the discussion, not one person on here knows what went on - it's all guess work & assumption. What's stopping DK taking his proposed £30m & depositing it in an account as proof of intention???
  17. We have a history of over paying for players....then selling on for a loss (bar one or two examples...) Throwing money at the playing budget will simply continue this "tradition". Tens of millions may not be needed to compete, but good scouting is definitely required. Ceptic have a very large pool of players, but due to the fact that they don't pay huge wages to the majority, they are able to keep their costs manageable. We need to spend wiser not bigger!!! I get the impression that folk expect the bulk of DK's proposed investment to be blown on expensive "quality" players.....
  18. What King was looking at was investing £30 - £50m over a number of years - he wan't planning on pumping it all in at once....

    pre season

Commonwealth games....Ibrox is being used for the rugby!!!
  20. This is something I don't agree with..... King gives the impression that he is speaking for the fans, that they both share the same vision/goal......but if those same fans don't back his plans in huge numbers & buy into his scheme, it then gives the impression that he doesn't speak for the fans & weakens his argument. I believe what King has done is made people question their "undying" loyalty to a degree. Fans are obviously thinking twice before putting more cash into the club - many of these folk also don't want to put their money into Kings scheme either. Based on figures currently "oot there", we know that approx 18k ST have been sold. We are led to believe that 8-10k folk have signed up with DK. That still leaves circa 10k folk who just haven't renewed for whatever reason. What happens when the DK "trust" deadline passes....how many of the 8-10k will renew with the club. What will be DK's stance once the deadline passes for his trust??? What will DK say IF St sales start creeping up closer to last seasons??? If DK is working with and for the fans....How is he interacting with them??? Does he know why 10k people haven't renewed??? What is he currently doing to promote the fans views etc???
  21. Everyone was up in arms coz the club weren't releasing figures for ST sales....yet no-one appears to be concerned/bothered about numbers entering DK's scheme. King has been VERY quiet about everything recently. this is supposed to be his baby....he was the one who pushed for this....he was the one publicly calling for better from the board. Yet here we are weeks/months down the line & still no clear picture of what King's intentions really are. Have folk bought into his trust, or are they simply not renewing for other reasons?? Does the trust/company have any real bargaining power due to the numbers who have signed up??? Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that there were unofficially 8-10k signed up, yet no official confirmation - there were unofficial ST sales ranging from 5k-25k from various sources..... I can see this whole "trust" thing just fizzing out & many fans going back to the club & renewing anyway - just later than usual....
  22. IF that were the case, I'd say it is significant enough to force the board to the discussion table to try & thrash out a compromise.
