Ally McCoist and Rangers: Time for some home truths
Darthter replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I think the general feeling about the current Coaching team has been going on long enough for it not to be about a handful of results. there has always been some kind of excuse or reason for the teams performance - mostly off field things, but when it come right down to the nuts & bolts, many fans feel that the coaching teams performances/abilities are far from where they should be. They are no longer rookies, yet the team hasn't changed how it plays from when they were rookies. Barring the odd spell, the team hasn't really shown great signs of overall improvement, despite a large number of personnel changes. -
Another 250k shares sold over the past 24 hours.....could that have maybe been Stockbridge dumping his "new" shares????

Compare it too us..... At times, we lose ONE player and our performances drop......we are too reliant on individuals rather than a team unit. If Germany had lost Swiensteiger or Kroos, I bet they'd have still won. -

The main point was that they don't have a stand out superstar(s) like some other teams. The have a full team of quality players which works together AS A TEAM, they are not reliant on any one individual. -

I firmly believe that it doesn't take a team of superstars to make a top quality team. I believe Germany are a perfect example, they don't have any stand-out superstar(s) like Neymar/Messi etc. What they do have is a group of good quality players who function very well as a team. Compare that to our current squad. On paper over the past few years we have had a good squad (especially considering where we've been playing). We have had a decent mixture experience & youth, some players with international experience. Yet they still look like a team cobbled together 24hrs before a match.. There is very little cohesion within the team. That being the case, where does the lack of cohesion come from??? IMHO, that responsibility rests with the management team. It is there responsibility to ensure they get the most out of each & every one of their players - can ANYONE honestly say that has been the case with McCoist, Durrant & McDowell??? Based on what has been seen over the past 2-3 years, McCoist will struggle in the SPFL - i think at best, we'd finish mid-table if we're lucky. Now is the time to change the management team, when there is less pressure. get someone in who can mould the team into a cohesive unit and take things from there. -
I think there is a difference between playing unattractive football & just plain bad football. Playing defensively & trying to hit on the break is unattractive, but you can still play well. Rushing up the park @ every opportunity can be exciting, but can be done badly. I don't disagree that at times we played VERY poorly - unable to string 2 passes together - that is just outright bad play. We must tighten up on the basics for next season. If we do that it will probably result in less frustration for the fans.....this may then result in a better match experience.

Arsenal have been long credited with being an attractive, passing team - what have they won in recent years??? There were a few games last season where we generally played well, yet failed to get a good result - maybe just scraping a win or at least a draw. Playing attractive passing football means absolutely nothing if you don't win the game. 2008 - we played some terrible football, yet still got to a European final. The most important thing in ANY football match is scoring more than the other team - anything else is a bonus.

Some very valid points in there.... If you want entertainment, try the WWE. Football is a competition 1st & foremost - the teams are trying to win. Yes it would be nice to see a more enjoyable product on the park but at the end of the day, it is the result that is important. Would fans be happy if we played wonderfully entertaining football & got beaten???

Strictly speaking we were ejected from the SPL because the other team voted not to transfer our membership share to a different company. Due to the SPL & the SFL being different bodies, we had to apply to the SFL for admission. They kindly admitted us into the bottom league.

did ticketus not opt to pursue Whyte's personal guarantee's for the full amount, rather than accept a reduced payment via CVA???? If they had gone along the CVA route, they had no recourse through the guarantees.

was it not around £20-25m...£14m of that being unpaid tax.

I think Oldco could have a pretty strong case if they can show that due to the BTC/FTT hanging over their heads, it resulted in the liquidation etc.

Rangers v Hibs in Challenge Cup 1st Round
Darthter replied to Tannochsidebear's topic in Rangers Chat
Hopefully he doesn't turn out to be one of our permanently injured players, whos eventually sold and doesn't pick up another injury for the rest of their careers... -
That could be for the authorities to decide....they may want to know if there are other bits of information missing, and therefore conduct an investigation.
-
I don't think the BTC caused our problems/demise, but it was a major contributing factor. With the potential liability hanging over our heads, it was impossible to find a suitable/reputable buyer for the club.

From my very limited knowledge of such matters, I would assume that if the figures are correct then there is unlikely to be any further negative actions taken. However, it may prompt a general review of the accounts & the auditors performance in signing them off. Who is it that will have compiled Note 30 - auditors or Directors??? If it was the auditors, were they negligent in their duty & didn't scrutinise the contracts correctly, or was it the directors who didn't disclose this particular piece of information - if so why was it not disclosed???

and Scotland are one of Europe's (if not the World's) leaders in alternative/renewable energy...... -
I think something like that would do the team the world of good - sometimes I wonder if they know each others names....

A wee bit of realism here....The club have not refused your £500. You chose not to give the club your cash but instead put it into a scheme that was never going to work - the clubs stance on this has not changed, they said from day 1 they were not going to give security over Ibrox to DK's company. Did you at any time offer the club your £500??? if the answer is no, how can they of refused your cash???
