  1. I'd stick a £3m tag on him. Some may laugh at it, but we should then be able to actually get about £1.5m for him...maybe ever closer to £2m. for Premiership & championship clubs down south £2m is pocket change.
  2. Wallace is undoubtedly one of our best players - it would be ridiculous to sell him. Also the valuation placed on him the last time was FAR too low - just over £1m I think. And to think that the other mob just sold Herman Munster for a reported £10m....
  3. If King gets control....how much "it was the previous board" will we hear???
  4. Agree 100%.... There is always the odd exception to the rule, but recently with us the exception appears to be the norm!!!
  5. What IF none of that happens???? or doesn't happen quick enough for the fans. I'm sure King originally said that his investment would be over a 3-5 year period.....so don't expect King to walk in and right everything overnight.
  6. ANOTHER 30+ year old is NOT what we need!!!! I don't care how good he is, or was....we shouldn't be signing anyone over about 25 yr old. By that age, if they have been playing 1st team football, they should be more than experienced for us. We should be bringing in new & exciting players who are desperate to prove themselves.....not 30-somethings looking for a last hurrah!!!
  7. We have rarely lost anything BUT bad goals.....
  8. That's already happening with experienced players.....Gasparotto or Halkett ain't gonna do any worse. I don't think they should be 1st picks by any means, but giving them a few starts ain't gonna do them any harm. How do we know if any of these youngsters are good enough if they don't get a game???
  9. I don't think adopting the one formation for EVERY match is the answer....but the players should be comfortable with 2 or 3 different formations - this would allow the management to adjust the team depending on the game. Obviously formations is not something that is worked on @ MP or during pre-season.
  10. It was brutal to watch....but we were technically playing better. Walter had us playing a very defensive style, that restricted how the opposition played and we did it well. Ally's team over the past few seasons have been terrible to watch coz they've been technically sh*t - completely unable to play even basic football.
  11. I would disagree slightly with that..... Under Walter, we played unattractive football - it was boring & uninteresting - but at least we did it pretty well. Under McCoist, we are just not playing good football of any kind. Right now we are a team of decent footballers, playing very poor football. I would agree with the principal that our 1st instinct should be to win a game. After all is that not the idea of the game??? However, there are ways & means to do it, and by doing things the right way, it makes the no.1 goal easier to achieve. Remember the old adage - "The more I practice, the luckier I get"
  12. No more excuses.....yet in todays DR he's blaming CG for rearing his head again - poor, poor poor.... It has been excuse after excuse for years. We hear excuses regularly from players, and how they are going to turn things around/improve etc....then its back to the same old, stuff. There are thousands of fans watching each game who can clearly see the failings:- - cannae pass - cannae take a corner - cannae take a free kick - cannae make a decent substitution - cannae tackle - cannae maintain any kind of pace/tempo - cannae defend a corner - cannae breakdown an opposition defence - cannae get to the bye line - cannae beat a man These are all things that have been evident for years, and show absolutely no sign of changing, even though there are players in the ranks than CAN and have done these things perfectly well in the past. Black, Law & Temps are shadows of themselves a few years ago. Even Foster has regressed since his original stint. The club is still reliant on over-paying for mediocre players then trying to pass them off as something they're not. We have brought in one player that has a chance of developing - Nicky Clark - yet the lad cannae get a game, how's he going to develop? While it's true that we won the 3rd tier without losing a game, i believe this just papered over the cracks. Once the league was won, there should have been an improvement in the general tone of the games - league won, less pressure. This didn't happen, we stuck to the same formula and even continued to play a player who was carrying an injury which has then had a knock on effect to this season. Is the club's only goal to win the next game??? What is happening on the training field - are these players actually being coached/trained??? Are we studying opponents, identifying weak spots, and tweaking strategies to accommodate these weaknesses???
  13. I'm sure i drive by Penman's office on a daily basis - looks a complete dump/dive!!!
  14. I thought we were fairly comfortable in possession for large periods of the match. However, once we reached the final 3rd of the pitch we were completely devoid of ideas or creativity - until Temps came on!!! We all know that Boyd is not a worker, but he scores goals when given decent balls across/into the box - completely non-existent!!! Miller did a power of running, but was largely infective. When we did get to their box, and moved the ball about quickly we caused them problems - this was something Hibs did far more than we did!!!. Surely the management team can see this, and work on it in Training???
  15. It is synonymous with our general style of play though - safe. We appear to be more concerned about not losing goals than scoring them at times.
  16. Loading EVERYONE into the box is not good defending (IMHO...). It is safety in numbers. I'm sure McCoist would argue that it is required due to the number of opposition players being sent forward, but you could also argue that the opposition are sending extra players forward, coz there is no counter-attack threat - its a bit of a vicious circle.....
  17. Valid point....but there is a flip side. How often are we able to quickly break from a corner, get the ball up field (to one of our players), and effectively clear the lines. At best we tend to clear the ball to midway in our own half, most often to an opposition player, who plays it straight back into the box.
  18. Terrible tactic....Boyd & Miller in their own box defending!!! As BH says, they should be on the half way line, with someone positioned between them & the box.... The penalty box is just too crowded, and the opposition know it & make the most of it.
  19. Agreed that the BTC is completely separate. However, CW was being pursued (personally) for nearly £4m in taxes.....he then takes ownership of a high profile organisation providing prove of funding to the tune of £33m - HMRC should have been all over him like a rash!!! Every single action CW took should have been scrutinised by HMRC - that obviously didn't happen.
  20. Why would HMRC be under ANY obligation to notify the SFA over their pursuit of CW???? However, if the SFA did their "fit & proper" test correctly (no laughing at the back...), an enquiry to HMRC should have at least returned an "Under investigation" response. I still find it hard to believe that Hearts get multiple winding-up order for £500k, yet an individual who was under investigation, owing just shy of £4m, was allowed to run up a further £15m worth of tax debt through a company he was running.
  21. It's not just experience....sometimes its just a case of getting the right fit..... As for walter, he's the perfect example - it was PLG's team & his players. Walter came in, and utilised those same players & turned them into a winning team. That is what we need....someone with some fresh ideas on how to best utilise the players available. what about Robbie Neilson @ Hearts - they just gubbed St johnstone, and played pretty well by all accounts.
  22. You just need to look at when Walter took over from PLG - same players, completely different results. The same happened with the Scotland team. Butcher @ hibs was reverse example - doing well @ ICT, moves to Hibs with big hopes & fails miserably. If you have the right manager, you will get the most out of your players. McCoist can not get these players to play well.....I would even suggest that he would struggle to get ANY team playing well. These are HIS players, HIS team, yet he can't seem to settle on his best starting 11 or even the best formation. They are playing like total strangers, rather than a cohesive unit or TEAM!!!
  23. The bottom line is that McCoist does not appear to fill anyone (except the opposition) with confidence. What anyone really confident of getting a good result against Derby??? We have played a good number of games of the past past few weeks, yet we still haven't see anything that looks like a settled starting 11 - Does McCoist even know who are in his strongest team??? I see the biggest problems as: - poor execution of the basics.....is it REALLY that difficult to string more than 2 or 3 passes together - poor team selection - poor tactics - poor communication.....do the team members actually know each other??? - no imagination - no creativity - no drive or hunger - no effort The root of all of these issues is the manager & his team. They are the ones that are working with the players on a daily basis. They are the ones who are passing on technical guidance such as set pieces etc. They are the ones who decide what team starts a match. they are the ones who decide in-game changes. if the information is not being correctly relayed then it needs to bee looked at. If the team are not following the Managers orders, actions need to be taken. Players need to be dropped if they aren't playing well - this would give the youngsters a realistic chance to break trough. As it is, they may get a game as a replacement, but get dropped like a hot tattie when the original player returns. how can you create squad competition when folk know that XXXX is a certain started, whether on form or not - Daly was a certain starter even though he was carrying a knock in the 2nd half of the season. Ultimately it is not the manager that is our on the pitch, but he is the one that sets the foundation of how those players perform. Right now our foundation is shooglier than jelly!!!
  24. I would think that signing over right to the stadium is possible.....providing the right vehicle us in place. Signing your biggest asset over to a company wholly owned by someone trying to takeover the club/company was NEVER gonna work. What they could do is create a new company, that is owned jointly by the club & the membership scheme, with directors equally representing the club & fans. Ibrox could be signed over to that company.
