    Ally's CV

McCoist signed many players with decent reputations, most from the bigger clubs of the SPFL. They should form a decent team, capable of performing at a high level in the lower reaches of the Pro leagues - yet none have consistently delivered. He basically signed (what he thought) the best he could by offering stupid wages. On paper (I believe) we have a good team.....but on the pitch it's a different story. McCoist has signed players because they have been available....not because we required them. Then...because we don't require them, they either sit on the bench or in the stands - all the while "earning" there £££££'s, only to be released at a later date. As for Craig Gordon.....he claims he wasn't offered a contract - McCoist says he was. Are we to honestly believe that Alexander is on the same contract terms @ Hearts, that he was offered by us???? I think there was more too it than money. There are far too many questions/concerns regarding McCoist management & running of the team IMHO. Lets also not forget, that he's still on a reported £450k per annum salary with rumours that his wage cut was only temporary..... Are his management skill honestly worth over £400k per annum????

and one of them was our 1st choice keeper, the other we helped back to full fitness with an option to sign.....both were allowed to leave!!!! Who's decision was that??? We have constantly brought in middle of the road, aging players or "known entity" players. There appears to have been little or no thought on how these players are going to fit into the team, or how it is going to work in the future. Again, looking at Hearts, they trusted the youth that they had, mainly coz they had no option.....but ultimately it has paid off for them. They put a lot of pressure on young shoulders and they stood up to the challenge. These are decisions taken by the manager. It is the managers job to try & shape a team, not just for the coming game/season, but for the future. Our playing personnel has changed quite significantly, yet how the team performs hasn't. Again look @ the common denominator.....
  3. That being the case, there will be no effort made in selling them on. As has happened all too often in the past, their contracts will be run down, and we'll get heeHaw for them.

Hearts were in Administration for a long time. As such they had a signing ban preventing (possibly more restrictive than ours) them bringing in new players. They also HAD to get rid of basically ALL their high earners. Despite this they put up a valiant fight at the bottom of the Premiership - as said before, if it wasn't for their points deduction, they would probably have stayed up. Once they could sign players, they signed well - and probably paying a lot less than we were. It is correct to say that both admin/insolvency events were completely different - Hearts though have bounced back...we haven't!!! You have given specific examples of top tier teams struggling against lower tier teams - these were one off games. We have been doing it pretty much much week in-week out for the past few years. We have not developed as a team. We are paying premiership wages to play against the lowest teams in Scottish Pro Football, and struggling to perform. It isn't good enough. Teams are no longer scared to play us - they all believe they can take points from us home or away!!!

To put things into a bit more perspective....Look @ Hearts!!! Went into Administration & lost the bulk of their 1st team squad - they saw out the season essentially with youths. If it had not been for the hefty points deduction, they would probably have stayed up. They are now sitting top of the Championship, still without a full strength 1st team squad. They are also currently undefeated in the Championship. Compare that to RFC.....multi-million pound squad, top-notch resources, full time and have consistently struggled to dominate part-timers in the bottom-end of Scottish Pro football. We have added to the squad, but not improved the team - what's the common denominator????
  6. I wouldn't trust Ally to spend 10p wisely, never mind £10m. IF it is true, and he does get £10m, we can expect to see many more over priced & over rated players being brought in....probably at the older end of the age-scale. He will still complain than he needs more money to strengthen the team!!!
  7. "Keep his feet on the ground"....he'll drop him completely for any games before & after....
  8. just wait for the official board "vote of confidence"....
  9. King's only credible way forward is to buy shares from anyone willing to sell. While this goes against King's previous statements that he wants his money to go directly to the club, it is the only way he is going to get any kind of say or influence.
  10. IF this is true, it's disgraceful!!! We had a VERY capable backup keeper in Scott Gallagher who, I believe, could have pushed Bell for the No.1 jersey....but no, we let him go & he joins are previous No 1 keeper @ Hearts. We sign an ageing journeyman in Simonsen, who so far hasn't exactly set the heather alight bar 1 good save. Cammy Bell is out for a reported 2-3 weeks, and we're looking at bringing in another 28 yr old keeper, whom we previously let go.....what message does that sent to the young keepers trying to make their way through the ranks with a view to making the 1st team??? At this rate we will lose ANY decent young players as they will take the view that there is no future with RFC....
  11. That was my point....the players/team have shown that they CAN play decent football, all be it against a poor side. The big test for them is to now carry that over into the next few games. Remember the Motherwell game a few years back.....excellent performance that hasn't been replicated since....
  12. Off topic: do you still shoot???
  13. The baw's burst....
  14. The thing is, with last night's game they have shown that they can be a good attacking side, that can create chances & score goals. If they can't maintain that standard, the questions really will be asked....
  15. From what i've seen of the two keepers, I feel Bell is the superior. Simonsen has only played in a handful of games, but barring one save, he's looked shaky. When you add in Mohsni's tendency to be shaky as well, it doesn't fill anyone with confidence. I felt that Gallagher was a better keeper than Simonsen.....
  16. I hate to say it, but at times last night I got more excited when Falkirk were on the attack....they had pace & movement and actually made things happen. I thought our game vastly improved in the last 10 mins - we started to play well, and with a purpose. Mohsni was a complete bomb scare, and considering we had 5 defenders on the pitch, Falkirk had far too many attempts at goal.
  17. Can't see there being an issue - different clubs, different associations, different countries (technically)....
  18. Didn't take Ann Budge 8 months @ Hearts.....a club that has gone from being a complete basket case, to victors over us (@ home), and appear to be settled.
  19. Then they realise that they actually haven't enough players to field a full team......
  20. Unfortunately it won't be a sale.....their contracts will be up & they'll be released, bringing in zero cash!!!
  21. He also had a few howlers in the CL..... Also, he hasn't represented Engerland in any high profile matches.... Wallace has played for Scotland multiple times & gave many solid performances pre-admin and also previously for Hearts.
  22. As Frankie says, how long does it take??? after 4 months I would have expected to see SOMETHING with regards the Review recommendations....yet we are bringing in a 32-yr old on trial. we are still looking at things on a short term basis. Bringing in good young talent is not going to be any more expensive than having a 32-yr old on a decent wage, warming the bench. There was promises of a new Director of Football - so far only Nerlinger has been mentioned.....is there no-one else out there who could do the job??? Gary McSwegan was in the paper the other day saying how he used to scout for us - i don't know if he's any good as a scout, but he's certainly better than what we have right now... We have ex-players, contacts and fans the world over that could be utilised for very little financial outlay, and could identify potential signing targets. As a club, we need to look beyond the next match/current season with regard to players.
  23. ...and we've been incable of doing it for years. Ceptic are considerably more successful in this area than we are. Take Forster, was he not originally Newcastle's 3rd or 4th choice keeper....couple of years in East End & few decent performances, then he gets sold for a reported £10m. We sign Wallace for £1.5m, he puts in several seasons-worth of good performances, yet we're looking at selling for £800k - thats not right!!!!
  24. If he goes, he goes.....the world keeps spinning. but, if we are going to sell our better players, there had better be a backup plan ie scouting. I've believed for a while that we don't play the transfer market often or well enough. We tend to bring players in, the n release them @ the end of their contracts, rather than sell them on & bring in a replacement. Right now we have Stevie Smith who can step up, but we should also have a selection of youths on the verge of the 1st team, and also have a list of potential signing targets for that position - ideally under 25, and costing very little ie. rising/promising players. Our main criteria for player identification is that they are over 30 yr old & a free agent. These guys will probably only last a couple of seasons, at which time we will need a whole new team, rather than phasing players in on a fairly constant basis.
