  1. Law was our top scorer last season..... As for Miller, I think the system that MW has instilled suits him a lot more. There appears to be a lot less "leg work" - he's letting the wing backs & others do the majority of the grunt work, then ensuring his placement is optimal to get scoring chances.
  2. Been very impressed with Tavernier on the few occasions that I've seen him. For years, the team has been very lop-sided. We have relied very heavily on Lee Wallace to storm up the touch line & attack. Last season, this wasn't happening as much as before, for possibly a variety of reasons. On the other side, we have had a number of players who lacked that attack. They performed their defensive duties to an OK standard, but provided little in the way of attacking threat. Then in comes Tavernier.....we now appear to have a serious attacking threat from both wing\full backs. Long may it continue.....
  3. It's refreshing to hear the players saying they need to "get the finger oot" after a poor 30mins.....rather than after 2/34/5 poor games on the trot.
  4. Dave King is most definitely in town.... Have a mate who got a picture with him last night in Stirling - out sampling some local musical talent!!!
  5. Ultimately, I couldn't care less if a player arrives for the match straight from the pub.....as long as he does his job on the park. What they do in their own time is irrelevant. However, if their playing performance is sub=standard, then things need to be looked at.
  6. Is it just me or does anyone else think it unethical to have the same person on the board of the SFA & SPFL??? There could also be an argument for having the same CLUBS represented on both boards.....
  7. The main point is that we weren't getting decent balls into dangerous enough areas. We were "forced" to snatch at goal chances from areas where the odds of scoring start to diminish. Our new "vision" has to ensure that players are capable of opening up defenses, getting in behind & pulling players out of position.....If the more wide men can do that, it creates space in the highly dangerous areas for the striker(s) to operate.
  8. I posted in another thread... It will be interesting to see how Warburton's new vision will impact the current strikers. There was a recent article/thread about the use of stats, comparing our striking players. From memory, it stated that most goal attempts came from outwith the 6-yrd box. Now if Warburton can get the right style of play & the right players who can deliver decent balls into the box & provide our strikers with more 6-yrd box chances, we will score more goals.
  9. We may see changes/improvements in how our existing strikers play, due to Warburton's change of style...... One of our main problems last season was not getting enough decent balls into the box - this resulted in the strikers struggling. There was a stats article posted recently that highlighted where most of our strikers were shooting from - the majority of shots/chances coming from outside the 6-yrd box. The further away from you they are, the more difficult it will be to score. If Warburton can ensure better delivery from the wide areas, I'm sure we will see an awful lot more goals from our current strikers.
  10. he certainly appears to be taking a "bigger picture" view of things....
  11. I think it is essential that we become a selling club - as long as it's done right. For too long we have done things the wrong way - we have brought in players with inflated transfer fees & OTT wages. We then try to keep them as long as possible, then they move on for less than we paid - either as free agents or poor negotiations. We need to bring players in, develop them, play them....then they will start to attract increased bids. All to often we have brought in players, done nothing with them training-wise then not played them. If a player isn't playing, he ain't gonna attract a decent transfer.
  12. Still plenty of time to get players in. What we don't want to see happening is players being brought in just coz they are available. It needs to be the right players.....if that takes a bit longer than some would like, then so be it.
  13. can he drive the coach??? about all he's good for
  14. I think folk need to realise that we will not be making any big name signings - we have neither the cash or the appeal (currently). We need to be looking at promising, young players with a desire to improve, and win things. Where we get them from is irrelevant if they do the job required of them. We need a TEAM of players rather than a group if individuals with good reputations. The manager obviously has a belief in the player, that he has the potential to, at the very least provide a reliable backup to Bell, or to challenge for the regular No. 1 spot.
  15. Can't see it.....Warburton will ideally want folk to support his "vision". Since he has no connection with Jig, I think it's safe to say he'll no be back.
  16. Clark was scoring for fun in the league that we got promoted to, then virtually nothing. Playing against the same teams/players, with a supposedly "better" team & infrastructure.....his scoring record when he since he joined us compared to QoS is VERY valid!!!
  17. Agree that he never looked like scoring the same number.....but why is that??? There has been a lot going on (with the football side) over the last few years that appears to make players worse. Boyd - banging in goals for Kilmarnock.....signs for us terrible. Law - up for SPL player of the year....signs for us, bad to passable (at most). Clark - banging in goals for QoS, then struggles for us. Shiels, Black & Temps are other examples of players that have previously played well, then sign for us and suffer a noticeable downturn in form. Hopefully MW & DW can turn this around and start getting the most out of players & actually making players that we have better.
  18. I would keep Clark.... How can a player go from banging in goals for fun @ QoS, to struggling to even get on the bench in the space of a season. Was he simply bought to eliminate/reduce the threat of QoS??? I think with the right player & structure around him, he could flourish into a decent player.
  19. The main thing is that MW appears to be looking at players with potential. Ones that can hopefully be developed into decent, fully rounded players (potentially with a decent sell on value). This is the way to do it compared to previous policies of buying "Testes" & "experienced" players who will develop very little.
  20. The money that RFC make of the strip sales is buttons.....That is the main issue.
  21. really can't the point in signing a 35 yr old....

    Vuckic

I voted "Yes"....but the deal/cost would need to be right. we don't want overpriced players again. He did a good job when he played & if could be got for a good price on low enough wages, then Yes. If not, there will be plenty more folk that we can get.
  23. I actually think that Faure & Argyriou were alright - certainly not failures. Faure especially - he had a number of good games when played @ CB....RB was not his favoured position.
  24. I think, in general, the fans will be under-whelmed at most of the summer signings. We shouldn't need to go for big names....it's about how good a TEAM, they all make up on the park. Big name signings come with a heavy cost, with no guarantee of success.....unknowns have considerably lower costs & therefore lower expectations. The may result in less pressure and allow them to play their own game. Not all signings from lower english leagues are poor players....
