  1. IF the signing of RVP comes of, I think it would be classed as one of the biggest signings of Scottish football EVER. True, we have signed the likes of Butcher, Arteta, Gascoigne & Laudrup in the past.....but that was in a time when there was a LOT more cash(credit) kicking about in the Scottish game - we could attract the big names which being relatively competitive with English wages/transfers. Now a days, there is very little cash available, yet the prestige of playing for Rangers is still an attractive prospect for players - Krancjar & Barton being the most recent examples. IF RVP signs, I would expect the Eastend & the media to initially go into shock, followed by a barrage of "how can they afford him", "Financial meltdown at RFC: Pt2" etc.
  2. I would imagine that SD are still a predominant sponsor, regardless of the Rangers Retail goings on. There logo is also very visible on the background when doing pre/post match interviews.
  3. Another fine performance.... For me, the one thing that stood out was that we maintained patience. At no point were we getting "desperate" for another goal, and taking pot-shots for the sake of it. EVERY attack was patient, measured & relentless. The players (again) were also working very well as a TEAM UNIT - a lot of movement off the ball, which allowed for short, sharp passing.....even in very crowded areas. The players don't look scared to receive the ball. I thought the contributions from Barton & Krancjar were very "understated". Neither player appears to have let the "big name signing" tag go to their heads. They simply played their game, and did it VERY well.....knocking passes about without any fuss & linking both flanks well. I think the Burnley game will be a good test for them & will be interesting to see how that goes. Not concerned about the league - I think we will happily dominate the majority of teams. Once person I really wasn't impressed with was Chris Sutton on commentary - he really is a bitter, over-opinionated twat. Saying that Waggy shouldn't have got MotM coz the keeper should have saved the penalty, and his 2nd goal took a deflection. REgarless of how they were scored, the still count & Waggy put in an excellent shift.
  4. Why would that be an issue....you regularly have 2 right footed CB's....
  5. Shouldn't be an issue if he can read & dictate the game. From memory, Ray Wilkins or Bazza never appeared to be fasted/most mobile players, yet were a massive influence in midfield.
  6. Really enjoyed the game on Saturday.... Think Chris McLaughlin (??) made a valid point....we started nervous & M/well were desperate (and it showed...) I thought that we didn't rush things since it was only Game 2 of pre-season, we were patient in build up, and probed their defence, looking for a way past. There was no rush or desperation. We played the ball around well - general movement could have been a bit better at times. The defence looks shaky at times and scrambled for cover - I'm sure MW will rectify that in due course. Was very impressed with Krancjar. The goal opportunity caught him well off guard, but I thought his general play after that was excellent - measured & composed. He was also getting into some excellent positions. O'Hallaran & Windass were also similar, thought they caused a lot of trouble to the Well defence. All in, a very tidy performance.
  7. That can, in itself be a cause of injury. As the opposition tires, they become more reckless/aggressive with their tackling.
  8. Players wanting to play, rather than just happy to collect a paycheck.
  9. Is it my imagination or did we tend to have less injuries than "normal" last season??? Certainly there were VERY few any longer than a couple of weeks. My thinking for this: - No B/S covering for players who have had fallouts with the gaffer or just being plain lazy - Less prima donnas who require 6 weeks out for a broken nail - greatly improved medical/backroom staff - Improved training methods I think the Medical/backroom staff & training methods will be the key factors, but also having a squad of players who are desperate to play each week. Whatever the change, it's most welcome.
  10. spending big, does not guarantee a successful player. Whether MW has been supported by the board will be determined by the players being brought in (or not). If the board bring in the majority of players that MW has requested, then Yes he has been supported. There are several reasons why targets may not be brought in....most obvious being cash. The board have to place value on a potential player - money & input/effect. if the monetary value out weighs the potential input from the player then the deal will fall through - remember, players/agents can be greedy b$%^$ds at times. This doesn't mean to say that there is a lack of cash available, but simply the player wasn't worth what they were asking. I would imagine if a players asking fee was outwith the budget, then no further action will be taken by the board, and the manager informed accordingly.
  11. Couple of things to remember: - Spending millions doesn't always guarantee a successful player. Spend wisely. - There may be no suitable Academy candidate at the moment, but the Academy has seen a lot of changes recently and it will take time to see the benefits. Also you can't expect to produce players for ALL positions, all the time from the Academy. I am happy with the way transfers have been dealt with. Now to see how the results pan out....
  12. A cups, a cup.....The (potentially) strongest team should be played at all times (IMHO)
  13. Interesting page showing average ages @ the World cup over the years.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-28254123 About 27 appears to been the average overall.....
  14. Any interest should not be based on a single performance!!!
  15. Either Rob Kiernan's huge, or we need to stop signing hobbits....
  16. PArt of it should be named "The Cooper Wing"
  17. The Daniel Prodan medical centre
  18. I'm sure there will be a fee - does he not have another year left on contract??? Any fee is better than us paying to terminate the contract.
  19. There might be allowances if sold directly by Puma rather than by Sports Direct/Rangers Retail.
  20. If C1872 want to increase their shareholding, where are the shares to come from if not from 3rd parties???? Also, the club has technically already received the cash for those shares. As for C1872 giving £75k to the club....what mechanisms are in place for this to happen. I'm pretty sure you'r not allowed to simply walk in the door & hand over a £75k cheque. Club1872 ultimately want to have a say in how the club is run, that can ONLY be done by increasing the shareholding.
  21. We have been down the High spending route before....with mixed results. Spending £1m on a player, increases the chances of good results, but it's no guarantee. The management team need to spend wisely not excessively - This was clearly demonstrated last season. Folk weren't happy at the "bargain basement" signings, and look how that turned out!!! As for the the Aucho chap, part of his statement made me smile: Sounds like he's trying to stir up RAngers interest in himself....
  22. We already have a number of young/promising players within the ranks - Keirnan & Wilson being 2 of them, all be it they are 25/24, but still have a lot of development in them. I think there will be budget there for players, but only for the right ones....I don't see a massive, random spending spree. Any targets will be carefully selected & fully justified to the board.
  23. I would think Bell's priority will be to get game time. Once in the "shop window" he can then try & secure a much better club.
  24. Was it not just the end of his contract???
