Kenny Miller offered new Rangers deal after impressing boss Pedro Caixinha
Darthter replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
We need to be looking forward....not backwards. Lafferty had his stint, as have many other players, and we thank them for that. However the club must move forward & not look to players from the past - good or questionable - in order to do that. Fresh blood must be brought in & given that chance to pull on the light blue. Players that bring something new & exciting to the club. -
Would be good to see him getting some game time before end of season....even if it;s 15-20 mins, it should aid his recovery to full fitness.

Kenny Miller offered new Rangers deal after impressing boss Pedro Caixinha

He's never been that to begin with....According to Wikipedia, throughout his career, he has only scored 20+ goals a season 5 times (out of 25 seasons). I've never been a big Miller fan, but I can see why PC is wanting him next season - his influence on & off the pitch will be invaluable to younger players. -
One major complaint from many about Warbs was that he was too focused on us & not enough on the opposition - what's it to be??

Haw'd oan a minute..... Ceptic were winning the game 1-0 at the time of the alleged offence, so how did the ref's mistake cost them the came??? the alleged offence occurred in the 1st half as well. Is Delia actually saying that his team were not strong enough to beat an 11-man Caley thistle within 90mins??? Caley Thistle went on to score 3 goals, while Ceptic got a second - who's to say that even if they were given the penalty that firstly, they would have scored it, and secondly that Thistle may not have pulled back a couple of goals anyway. Seriously clutching at straws. I could maybe understand it more if Caley were winning, or it was sitting 0-0 with a few minutes of play left, but winging about a missed decision in the 1st half, while your team is winning is just sour grapes, and aiming to heap pressure onto Sundays ref so that he favours any Ceptic decision.

How on earth can revealing your team 30hours before the match be deemed disrespectful?? Happens all the time with international matches.....

I get the impression from PC's post match comments, that he's wanting to play a lot more technically, or certainly trying to explain things more technically. It would appear that some players are struggling to understand this part of the game - ie. they have the physical skills, but lack that technical "vision". If that is the case, there will be some players who rise to it immediately, some who take time to learn and some who will never grasp it. That will most likely form part of PC's recruitment policy, maybe more-so that a players physical ability. I think he will look to players who can see spaces opening up & exploit them with basic/simple passes or movement.

We NEED goalscorers, and folk who can setup scoring opportunities - Miller is neither. He does a power of work, trying to drag defenders about the place, but they get wise to him & just let him run about - there MUST be an end product. Many folk criticised Boyd, for his lack of all round play but he could score. In a similar vain, Miller lacks an all round game but more importantly, the element that he lacks is consistent finishing - so what use is he as a striker???
-
Miller's best attribute now is his on-field leadership & his effort, but it's all for nothing if there's no end product - and for the most part, there hasn't been. His scoring has not been up to par for a striker, so based on that, he's a wasted jersey. I think he may get offered a coaching role with the U20's, but I think his regular 1st team playing days are done. I would like to see PC looking for younger players, with the pace, stamina & scoring attributes to fully contribute.

As soon as someone decided to name it Great Britain, every inhabitant could be termed British.
-
a wee point of note.... Unless someone physically separates Scotland from England, we can always be termed as British, due to being part of the British isles - it refers to the physical land mass. It's the same as referring to someone from Kenya as African.

But the question is WHY the connection??? At what point in the RFC history was it decided that the club & it's supporters should be Unionist??? I can under stand supporting the Queen, but that's more a Royalist thing and there's no reason my the Queen can't be the Monarch of an Indy Scotland. So WHY is the club classed as a Unionist club & in many ways puts that above being a Scottish club???
-
Supporting Rangers & Independence are NOT mutually exclusive. I don't see ANY connection between RFC and the Union. Rangers play football, not politics!!!!
-
For the most part, I'm a big fan of The National - buy it daily since launched, and I am a huge supporter of Independence & paid up member of the SNP. However, I have regularly completed feedback questionnaires for the paper and one thing I have constantly pulled them up on is the Pro-Ceptic bias. Regularly, the only football information is about Ceptic (so not just anti-RFC). The stance put forward in that article is very much from a Pro-Ceptic stand point & is what I have come to expect from many of the football articles. In fairness, over the past few months they have started printing a lot more about other clubs, but Martin Hannah's stance has always been clear, and I generally take anything he writes with a huge slice of bull$hit. Martin Hannah has obviously not come to terms with the fact that it was deemed that no sporting advantage was gained by using the EBT scheme. Did it allow RFC to reward their players better - Yes, but the club still had to pay out a $hit load of cash into the funds. To turn things around somewhat.....Ceptic have had a free-ride into the Champ league for the past number of seasons, this has then generated many £m's for them - does this offer them an unfair sporting advantage???

Chelsea beat Man City in race to sign Rangers wonderkid Billy Gilmour
Darthter replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
Would be as well just going and getting a job @ McDonalds & playing for EK at the weekends......cause that's where he'll most likely end up in a few years. As many have said, he would be much better pushing for a place at RFC - more chance of him actually developing into a proper player. It would be good if Chelsea were to sign him, then loan him back for a minimum of 2-3 years. Let the lad learn the game & develop, rather than being one of a large intake. -
Surprisingly not been mentioned yet (I don't think...) Big Terry Butcher.....NEVER pulled out of a tackle, and had no problems putting his head/body where others feared to go. 100% committed.

My interpretation of role, is someone to provide detailed info on domestic opponents & to provide a "local" link to the club. Now, if the role is primarily focused on domestic opposition, whoever is in that role must display an indepth knowledge of football & team analysis and be able to present that info back to Pedro & the other coaches in a clear & concise manner. They will also be expected to provide detailed info on each ground, managers/coaches and various ground staff. Also the amenities available at each ground along with general logistical info. Almost like a Scouting role, except focusing on the whole team, rather than an individual player. I think the link to the club & it's history etc, will very secondary to the above. Taking all that into account, McCann (of the names mentioned) is probably the best bet, due to him effectively making his current living from analysis etc.

Martyn Waghorn linked with summer move to Nottingham Forest
Darthter replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Doesn't matter...as long as the mhedia report it....It will show up in all sorts of web search etc, and sets a price in folks minds. If they set a £10m, it will be laughed at, but it will be out there. Clubs down south see it & think "we're not paying that...we'll give you £5m". We maybe negotiate up to £5.5/£6m....they believe they have a good deal, we get a great deal. -

If there is indeed interest in Waggy, folk need to start commenting on it in interviews etc....stating a min price for him. Get the clubs valuation out into the open market & make it ridiculously high -it can always come down. They also need to start talking about how important he is to the team, in order to justify the valuation. -

£5m and he can go....Not a penny less. -
I simply don't think Ferguson should be involved due to the fact he's a 5hite coach - useless @ Clyde and not popular with the fans at all.
-
....and more fights

A lot of what is being discussed here is similar to what the team were doing last season. I felt this season, MW tried to tweak the method of play and introduce more long balls, which ultimately caused the system to breakdown.

What if Office space or a mailing address was rented to the SFA @ Parkhead....would that coz any "independent" issues???
