Based on this seasons performance, I very much doubt Garner will hit 25 goals next season....where ever he's playing. As for Naismith, it is all just paper talk the now anyway. Until he (or anyone else) sings on the line, it is all just speculation. All we know is that JJ seemingly watched a Norwich game.

Something to remember....a High signing on fee or wage, Does not make a top notch player. It CAN give an indication of the players quality, but no guarantee (Is there ever??) IMHO, too much emphasis is put on a players monetary value, rather than his actual ability. Is Joe Garner a better player that Dumbell-eh??? One cost nearly £2m, the other £500k. One has scored 8 goals, the other 32.....

Here's something to consider.... One of the most common defences for Garner's performances is that he didn't fit into MW's preferred style of play.....yet here we have a couple of players who have a decent track record, that some folk are jumping all over saying they would be great signings - what if they don't fit into PC's preferred playing style....what would be the point in bringing them in???
-
No really their issue....as long as the cash is not coming from illegal means. At the time of the exchange, there was nothing to indicate that the source of the funds was anything other than above board. the transfer of funds from Ticketus to LBG was legal....it was possibly just CW's brokering of the deal with Ticketus that wasn't - the court will hopefully determine that.

don't think anyone could disagree that Dumbell-eh has hit the ground running - 32 goals this season. 20yr old with 101 games of experience. If they are good enough, their good enough. A lot of attention is placed on experience, but that has a lot of different facets - look at young Beerman, 18yr old & played 3 senior games - 2 of which were OF games....I'm pretty sure he will struggle to top the experience gained in those 2 matches alone. Also, experience counts for nothing if it isn't conveyed on the pitch. Experience can also lead to predictability and is absolutely no guarantee or marker of success.

It may depend on PC's plans. As the squad stand just now, he might not be able to fit them in....over the summer that may change.
-
I think the strongest statement the Board could possibly make is in the Summer transfer window.....anything else is simply paper-talk. As for the DoF....obviously the plans/timeline have changed (for the time being). They are are allowed to change their mind you know!!! This is where statements can cause problems.....many folk believe that the contents are then set in stone & can't be altered. If a followup statement is issued detailing the change, they then get slaughtered for having no direction/leadership. Eg. DK is still been "hounded" over his £30m/childrens inheritance comments from 3 years ago.. PC still gets his "Best squad in the country" comments fired back at him (in the media).
-
Generally, I don't like previous players coming back - especially ones from the EPL etc. I tend to see it as a sing they're winding down their career....if they are still capable of playing to the highest level, they will be snapped up by another EPL club. Also, they have had their stint at the club, what more could they offer??? The club needs to move forward, both in terms of the players they bring in & the infrastructure that identifies those players. Simply bringing in ex-players cos they were previously good is lazy scouting. We need scouts/contacts out there to identify fresh talent that we can bring in at a good price & develop - which was supposed to happen with Dodoo.
-
Ferrester & O'Halloran are certainly decent players if given the correct opportunity. Garner on the other hand has shown absolutely nothing that would warrant him staying (IMHO). He was a big money signing and has simply failed to deliver.

The last "major" statement from the club about the new manager stated that they had followed a thorough process in identifying the new manager & PC was the result of that process. How did that work out for the club??? Supporters demanding to know what the process was, who made the decision etc. Many fans not getting behind the manager because they don't think he should he here.... Criticising his every move & comment etc Those very same fans were previously complaining that they hadn't been told anything about the new manager. A large proportion of fans are practically demanding that the board give a running commentary of their day-to-day working, then greetin' cause the board aren't complying. Fans want transparency.....however, no-one appears to know what that transparency entails or means.
-
I think one possible saving grace with any players possibly moving on, is that we don't have a ridiculous amount of cash tied up in them - with the exception of Garner. Most were free, or low transfer fees. Wages will not be massive either. Hopefully that will allow some English Champ or league 1 teams to buy them.
-
The Club don't "Have too" do anything of the sort.....bottom line is, if the club did release some kind of statement, there would be a (Large) section of fans that would still not be happy & continue to criticise. If they were to say "we are looking to bring in 5 x £1m players".....folk would say "Why not £1.5m or £2m??" "why limit it to 5". Or if they were to come out with a definition of their footballing vision/strategy, folk would complain "It's too similar to MW & that didn't work" etc. On the flip side, if it was a fairly generic statement about future plans, folk would complain that it's too vague & they want details.... It's really a no-win situation for the club.
-
During the next transfer window, they need to bring in good, not decent, quality players & find the funds to allow that to happen. That doesn't mean that we need to spend £m's on transfer fees, but there must be funds available as & when required. £1.8m was reportedly spent on Garner....so far, he's not been worth £1.80, never mind nearly £2m. Ceptic spend £0.5m on Dumbell & reap the benefits......

Pedro Caixinha angry at dressing room leaks ahead of*Old Firm derby
Darthter replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I am entitled to something like 28 days holiday per year....I may wish to take them at once, but then I have no more paid holidays for the rest of the year. My employer expects me to probably take 2 weeks off at summer - I generally spread my days off over a longer period. These guys are earning stupidly high wages, only tend to "work" a few hours per day, and complain when they have to play more than 3 games of footie in a 2 week period....They are pampered prima donnas. -

It is very rare in ANY job for employees to take longer than 2 weeks off at the summer (normally 10 working day holiday)....many folk only taking 1 week (5 working days). It would be interesting to see how many hours a week the players ACTUALLY work - I would hazard a guess that it is considerably lower than your average/normal person. I would also guess that the time they get off over the course of a calendar year is greater than the average person. Suck it up & get on with it like any NORMAL working person. As for the information leak, I suppose it would depend on the nature of the leak.....If a player was asked a direct question by someone in the media, and simply gave an honest answer - does that constitute a leak??? I would guess that a likely source would be the other half of one of the players getting married, moaning to someone, who then tells the press. -
I have absolutely no sympathy for him....he knew fine well what he was doing & that it was against the rules. As he points out, he has placed many bets over the years, with the vast majority being on other sports - so why go against the rules and place ANY bets on football. I read the statement very much as "I broke the rules, but it's not my fault"
-
So it's all Boumsong's fault

That's hilarious!!!! (and I'm no meaning the Chewin the fat sketch) Priceless....if ma Auntie had baws, she'd be ma uncle...but that's not the case!!! They have just won the Championship & have 17 players with their deals ending in a few weeks. If they are soooooo great, why weren't these players tied up long ago.
