That wasn't a tackle.....that wouldn't have been out of place in the UFC... -
Alves concern about 'unacceptable' behaviour on pitch
Darthter replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Worth also saying that even in the lower leagues, the severity of the challenges wasn't anywhere near as bad....yes it was very physical & at times injuries were sustained, but it wasn't verging on full-on warfare/assault. -
Alves concern about 'unacceptable' behaviour on pitch
Darthter replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
A balanced dossier needs to be submitted to both the authorities & to the media, that highlights ALL incidents that go against the rules etc, that receive either wrong actions or no actions from the Refs. I believe they should also go to lengths to include incidents where RFC players have been the perpetrators as well. By doing so, it results in a balanced view of the situation & cannot be shouted down as simply being sour grapes etc. I can't comment on what the standard of refereeing is like with other teams, but I certainly think there would be enough evident to support claims made by RFC. When you have players like Alves openly stating that its gone beyond the acceptable physical game, you know there is something in it. -
My thoughts: I thought we were actually the better team on the park...I don't think we played anywhere near as bad a many are making out. The truth is that M/well scored one REALLY scrappy goal, where the ball could have gone anywhere, and a second with a fantastic bit of finishing from Moult - an attempt that more often than not would have missed. Other than that, I only really recall them having one clear chance (cleared off the line). We, on the other hand had a lot of good chances - some very clear cut ones. We also had several spells of VERY heavy pressure in & around their box. Bottom line - They took their chances....we didn't. As for the refereeing....we are better than blaming the refs performance for losing the match, and I for one certainly don't think the refs performance overall caused us to lose. However, his performance was shocking. It's no wonder PC was getting as worked up as he was. Some of the decisions were jaw-droppingly bad - even more so considering there are 4 officials watching the game. I will concede that Morelos does tend to go down far too easy & can therefore sometimes make it difficult for Refs to make a decision, but there were several incidents yesterday that the Ref had a clear view of, and were very clear that the players were NOT putting it on. Playing a physical game is one thing, but some of the challenges recently went way beyond that. I wouldn't go as far as saying the players "need protection", but simply enforcing the rules properly & evenly would take of the worst of the challenges. Fabio Cardoso getting his nose broken by a leading arm/elbow - Anyone expect the compliance officer to apply a retrospective (2nd)yellow or red card for Bowmans challenge??? (I'll not hold my breath). The Moult/Alves incident.....I think was born out of frustration more than anything. There was shots of them moments after, looking relaxed, chatting & shaking hands. They both should have been off the park regarless though. There was still some slack play/passing, but in general I though we moved the ball pretty well. I thought the defence looked more robust (in general), and we did produce some wonderful attacking moves. I don't think PC will be on his way out anytime soon, but I do think a "dossier" of refereeing incidents MUST be presented to the relevant authorities & also widely circulated round the press.

From Feb 2017 Brenda's calls certainly worked for them... -
Listened to a guy on Clyde SSB the other night discussing that very point.....clearly felt it unfair that clubs like Bayern, PSG etc are able to spend that kind of cash, then play clubs like Ceptic who receive a tiny percentage of their income. Totally failed to understand that is exactly the same situation every SPFL game CEptic play - apprently Ceptic fielding 1 player that is worth more than the entire opposition club & it's assets is fine though!!!

That is a matter for the Manager & the player(s) to deal with....
-
If an actual £10m+ bid came in for Dumbelle, he'd be away. While they are pulling in a lot of cash from CL stuff, a bid of £10m+ in Scotland cannot be ignored.

I think that has been DK's main reason since it all emerged. Everyone one knows that shares will not change hands for the minimum value required by TOP, so why even bother going through the process to begin with - total waste of everyone's time & money, for a pointless exercise.

does he not have a brother called LA Sagna??

How many tickets had Benfica sold??? Just because there is a large number of Scots in the area, doesn't mean they all a) like football/soccer or b) Support Rangers

Miller banished from first team according to DR
Darthter replied to forlanssister's topic in Rangers Chat
A couple of points about KJ's article..... When did Miller become a club "Talisman"??? This would imply that he brings good luck & inspiration to the team when he plays - I've not seen much evidence of that. Yes, he works hard but to me 89/211 goals/appearances isn't exactly outstanding for a striker - that a 42% return ratio. Couple of quotes in there that should get the RFC media folk on the war path.... Inexperienced??? Spent 11 years as an assistant manager at clubs like Sporting CP & Panathaniakos, then another 8 years as a manager, winning 3 major titles with Santos Laguna. As a manager, he's taken charge of 254 matches. He may not exactly have the most glittering career, but he's far from inexperienced. Egotistical....Maybe, but no always a bad thing. In order to make claims like that, I would like to see come clear evidence of such. "Taking out the talisman...." - frankly Millers performances this season have been woeful, so why not drop him??? If the player takes umbridge at that, then that tells you more about the player than the manager. As for the dressing room stuff....If this was ANY other manager, it would be written that they were stamping their authority & letting the players know that their performance wasn't good enough....but somehow with RFC, it's complete club meltdown. -
Overall... pleased with the result, however I thought it was a sloppy performance. Too many long balls going straight to the opposition - their goal being a prime example. Too many square or backward passes....need better movement ahead of play. Like the look of Dec John, think Waldo will have to really up his game.

Has he not been carrying out an U20's coaching role for a while now, since Warburton??? -
Miller banished from first team according to DR
Darthter replied to forlanssister's topic in Rangers Chat
One of the most common parts of Millers game is head shaking - he does it all the time. I don't know if it's aimed at his actions or those of his team mates. I wouldn't surprise me if he rates himself higher than the rest & takes it badly when he is dropped for poor performances. What better way to bring focus to you not getting a game, than to leak certain bits of info to the press. This info is probably not 100% wrong, and is therefore not false....but at the same time not 100% accurate either - being told from "A certain point of view" (copyright Obi-Wan Kenobi) Who's to say that PC hasn't said to Miller that the team can manage without him tonight, so travel with the U20's as a coach to assist. Miller maybe of prefered to play & leaked 1/2 truths. WRT the captain arm band issue, we don't know if Millers come onto the park and almost demanded the arm band from Dorrans - against PC's instructions. Has Miller maybe assumed that he may be a more senior captain than Dorrans??? Ultimately PC is the man in charge. It doesn't matter who the player is, they are not the ones calling the shots, and they are not the ones that tend to get the grief is the team doesn't perform. -
I think the problem with starting Miller is that he's too predictable. They will know EXACTLY how he'll play (lots of running about, huffing & puffing, with no end product) Pena in the other hand, is an unknown quantity. They won't have much to go on with regard to snubbing him out. However, they may just let the Ref handle him - straight red in 1st 10mins.

PRESS CONFERENCE | Pedro Caixinha | 21 Sept 2017
Darthter replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I'm sure the media (ie. Mutton) will have a field day with some of Pedro's comments - in particular the ones about Morelos being provoked & possibly about the obstruction of the GK at set pieces. -
Compliance Officer to Charge Sinclair? Probably Not
Darthter replied to StuGers's topic in Rangers Chat
Looks like Sinclair actually clipped his own heel..... Minimal challenge from the Dundee player. -
watched a bit of the Dundee game last night.... Ceptic were very comfortable on the ball....coz Dundee let them be. Dundee didn't put ANY pressure on their players when the ball was either in the Ceptic 3rd or the middle 3rd.....they simply sat back & let them pass the ball around, with the odd (almost) 1/2 hearted challenge going in. This gave them time to organise and structure their attack more. They would then break quickly from the middle 3rd of the pitch towards the Dundee box. If the attack failed, they brought it back to the 1/2 way line and started again - all with minimal intervention from the Dundee players. If we want to stand ANY chance of getting some kind of positive from the match, we MUST press them hard, further up the pitch. Put their players under constant pressure by limiting their time on the ball & being right in their faces - as a team, they don't like that. I believe they don't have the quality to cope with being pressured and having opposing players right in their faces & on their heels.

To: The House of Commons - End the BBC Licence Fee
Darthter replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The biggest issue I have with the license fee is that you are supposed to have one even to watch STV/Ch4/5 etc - these stations don't benefit from the license fee cash though. I heard an argument about having a TV, but not paying the fee. The viewer claimed that since they didn't watch BBC, they didn't need a license. The license "enforcer" claimed that you HAVE the means to watch bbc, so must have a license. The response was "I have the means to kick you in the nuts, but I haven't......yet". The "enforcer" left. The BBC should simply move to a commercial structure like EVERY other tv & radio station - that way they are answerable to their sponsors etc. -
[FT] Partick Thistle 2 - 2 Rangers (Morelos 19; Dorrans 77)
Darthter replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
Is that such a bad thing??? Whatever "role" Miller is currently playing, it isn't working too well - he's not being very productive. Bring Herrera in and offer the team something different. -
[FT] Partick Thistle 2 - 2 Rangers (Morelos 19; Dorrans 77)
Darthter replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
I think all the recent attention that Candieas is getting will benefit us - Thistle will be focused on him at attacks down our right. That then give Windass a bit more space/freedom down the left. I think either Niko or Pena should start and also I think we need to see more of Herrera - he scored, then the next game....didn't play. -
Interesting wee exchange around the 8min mark, with someone commenting on "when the Club was liquidated"....someone comes back with a correction saying that the club WASN'T liquidated.
