IMHO, that's what happens when there are sooooo many labels being attached - it's far to "easy" to offend someone by using the wrong label/term.

Scotland has been crying out for decent CB's for a while....it's an area of the team that is ALWAYS talked about on the phone-ins. Who would you rather have at the heart of the Rangers defence...McCrorie or Christophe Berra??? Berra apparently being the best CB available to the Scotland squad.....

A lot of the media still believe that there is a significant "step up" from club football to international football. As such there tends to be a lot of chatter about who is good enough to turn out for the national team - even @ Scotland's level. I believe it stems from when there was little European football, and most domestic teams were made up of local players. Ryan Jack for example.....there was talk about whether he would be good enough for a full competitive Scotland match - playing in a meaningless friendly is fine but the consensus was that he wasn't good enough for competition. Similar discussion about McCrorie saying that he has done very well for the Rangers 1st team, but he's probably "not ready" to run out for the Scotland 1st team. Your comment about the "best" national team kinda fits in with what I'm thinking.....The manager assumes that because they are playing in the EPL, they MUST be of a standard for the 1st team as they are playing against many of the same players @ International level. As we have seen, that hasn't been the case. Maybe it is time to start looking at players, regardless of which league or age, that are playing well and give them a shot.

Been a lot of chat on Clyde SSB about players stepping up to International level. We're recently seen Ryan Jack appear for the "proper" team, and Ross McCrorie being included in the 21's team. As lot has been made about whether these players (and other youngsters) have the ability to "step up" to international level, but is there still that gulf in quality that there once was??? Think of many players in the EPL....playing week in/out against many players from top international teams etc - no longer is it a rarity to play against the "best". Also with the likes of Champions league & Europa league, many young players are getting experience of playing against top level opponents long before being picked for international duty. If they're good enough, they're old enough....

Ideally, we now need to replicate that on the left side. I think one thing that appears to separate Candeias from other wingers is that he's pretty consistent. If we could get someone on the other side with Candeias' crossing ability, it would give us a double threat.

it's a PR stunt, nothing more. The players will wear special fancy coloured laces for one game, then go back to their normal fancy coloured laces. As for the multitude of genders.....genetics tell us there are only 2 genders, end of story. If folk want to "muddy the waters" of science & attach different labels to each other, then so be it but just because someone decides they want to wear certain clothes that doesn't mean they are defining a whole new gender. IMHO, the more labels folk put out there, the more division is created. We all "sh*t in the same pot", folk just need to accept that & move on.

I think McCrorie has shown up well recently, and has a bright future. I agree with others that Alves/McCrorie is a good relationship - especially for McCrorie. However, it would be hard on Cardoso as he's done decently as well, but that how football goes.

Rangers fans brand Aberdeen fan forum members “dregs of society”
Darthter replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
to be quite honest...someone holding up a Union flag is more offensive to me.... Separation, Independence etc or not, it's irrelevant.....both Rangers & Partick Thistle are SCOTTISH clubs, as such no-one should be reprimanded or punished for waving a Scottish flag. As for the Catalan flag....same as a Tri-colour....it has no place in a Scottish football ground (Though I do support the Catalan cause....) (give me a minute while I put on my tin hat.... ) -
That's the American influence....they have stats for EVERYTHING!!! It can be very useful, but as is always the case, stats can be "manipulated" to show a certain view point ie is a player playing well or not - some figures will say "yes, had an outstanding game", others will say "no, terrible game".
-
Man management is a tricky one though....some coaches have none & are not interested in player whinges, yet still get results.....others end up tying themselves in knots trying to please everyone, but end up pleasing no-one. I would say it's up to the board to decide what "style" is best for the Club & what fits best with the Club ethos.
-
I think , regardless of who the next manager is going to be, the most important thing for the board to do is: - identify the main issues affecting the team. Why are the not winning more games etc - How best to progress the team, and get them challenging consistently for the title Basically, identify the ROOT cause of any current issues. Only then can they identify any potential manager. They can have meaningful discussions about the current fix & how they are going to improve/progress the team beyond 2nd place in the Scottish league. It's all well & good if a potential candidate comes in and talks a good game - I could do that - but without knowing specifically what areas MUST be bettered, how can they pick the right person for the job. What do folks on hear view as the main root causes for our current issues & how best to move the team forward???

The thing they didn't get is that if DM is unsettled, it's 100% due to the media & radio phone ins....
-
At to laugh @ Clyde SSB the other night.... Making a big issue about McInness being unsettled by all the Gers manager talk, but somehow managing to argue that it's a different situation compared to one team talking about another player. What REALLY made me laugh was that they were putting ALL the blame onto Rangers for dragging the whole scenario out & how unfair it was on DM. They were totally baffled by the fact that neither DM or Aberdeen have been approached by RFC. All big, bad Rangers fault, even though they haven't actually said anything about DM or anyone else. They also didn't grasp that one possible reason as to why DM/Aberdeen hadn't been approached was that maybe RFC didn't want him & had other targets....

Was there not talk several years ago about Bilic coming to Ibrox???
-
Interestingly.... There's an article in todays National which kinda goes over this thread. The sub header reads "Kenny Miller found himself in a power struggle". That kinda sums up the situation....No player should EVER be in a power struggle with their manager....
-
The only bits I actually made up were the bits about going in the huff & talking to the media....All the other bits are indeed fact, unless you know otherwise. As to KM's return....again, this may be completely untrue, but the board have just sacked the manager, the team needs some kind of stability...that stability may have come by reinstating KM to the starting 11 & allowing him to take the arm band. It may simply have been the easiest route to restore some harmony. Here's something to consider...in an earlier post it was mentioned about PC being unhappy with Dorran's for giving KM the armband, yet Dorran's wasn't dropped or sent out with the youths following that allegedly major bust-up.....
-
No I never....It was a general observation of the game in general & that players appear to be wielding too much power, not allowing managers to enforce discipline effectively. The punishment is deemed by the manager....if he thinks it's suitable to drop the player from the 1st team squad, then so be it. The armband thing....for all we know, that could have been directly against PC's instructions. PC maybe wanted Dorran's to remain captain, but Miller told GD to hand it over. IF that were the case, you then have a player disobeying direct instructions & doing what the PLAYER deems best, not the manager. That could lead to a very heated discussion on the matter.... As for what followed....any "facts" or info appeared to come from the players camp - PC said virtually zero on the matter other than whether KM was in the squad or not. The whole molehill was constructed by the media...but where did the media get their info???
-
The one place they should NEVER turn to is the press/media..... The 1st person that should be approached is the Manager & discuss the situation like adults. If that fails, you go up the management chain or to the players Union. Matters of discipline or "unfair" treatment are internal matters & should be dealt with as such. Instead, all too often, they are played out/dealt with in the media & verdicts effectively being made without ANY real facts. One thing about the Military is that they function 100% as a team, they trust their lives to each other. While the same degree of teamwork ain't required in football, the players still need to believe & trust in their team. The Military achieve this bond by effectively breaking the soldiers will & spirit to the point that they physically & mentally can't carry on themselves. They are then "rebuilt" with the support & trust of those around them. In the case of pulling players in @ 6am....why not if they are stepping out of line. Break that rebellious streak - follow the rules like everyone else & you can train with everyone else. That is stamping authority!!!! Did PC actually say that Aberdeen were no longer the 2nd force??? He said they were coming to the end of a particular "Cycle" and mentioned that there was going to be a significant change in playing personnel, which was then (mis)reported as saying their time as 2nd was over. As for PC's "Blasts" about MOH & Forrester.....again, he didn't just blurt these comments out randomly - he was asked specific questions in press conferences & pushed for answers to those questions. But, if a manager doesn't see a future for a player at the club, why hide that?? What is REALLY wrong with saying, he's not gonna play so if anyone wants to buy him etc, let me know. Again, the player in question shouldn't be questioning that in public. It is the managers decision as to who plays - NOT the players.
-
I think one thing that would help, would be the ref being able to speak about various decision etc after the match & explain why they took certain actions. Something that I'm sure the compliance officer & panel will be privy to.

Excellent post Gaffer....

so which parts do you know for a fact are totally false??? Krancjar is always injured & has struggled with fitness from day 1 Wallace is injured & John has been playing better Miller was playing terribly MOH has struggled to get a regular game since day 1 McKay couldn't agree a new contract Hill's contract ended Halliday is of a lower standard than Jack/Dorrans/Rossiter (when fit)/Holt, so unlikely to get many games The only made up bit was the actions that I suggested they had taken....and the only info we have about ANY of the incidents has generally been through the media & "sources inside the club". Look at all the media attention surrounding the KM stuff - can you honestly say that didn't affect his situation at the club in a positive way??? PC is sacked & KM walks straight into the starting 11, wearing the captains armband....
-
I don't think Rangers specifically have a discipline problem....I think it is throughout the game. Players believing they are bigger/more important than the manager. If they don't like a managers decision, they squeal to the press....
