[FT] Hibernian 1 - 2 Rangers (Windass 42; Morelos 45)
Darthter replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I would like to see Herrera get more meaningful game time - NOT a starting place though (certainly for now). As Frankie says, when he's only getting a few mins at the tail end of games, how is he supposed to do anything positive??? How's he supposed to adapt to the Scottish game??? Ultimately, it may turn out that his performances don't improve, but he at least deserves to be given the chance. -

A Hard fought victory.....but another 3pts on the board. -
Where did you get that from??? Any Manager must be involved in player selection. I know Murty talked about the "recruitment team", but I think that simply refers to scouts & analysts etc. This is how I see player recruitment being handled: 1. Manager notifies DoF about specific player requirements - position etc. Also player characteristics - pacey, distribution, leadership etc 2. DoF instructs scouts & analysts to find x-number of players that match the managers criteria 3. DoF presents list to manager for discussion. 4. Manager prioritises the list or bins it. 5. List if passed back to DoF & negotiations being. Essentially the leg/donkey work & contract negotiations are being done by other people, leaving the manager to focus on the team.

I would like to see the Board issue a statement today, passing comment on expected Referee performance - NOT slagging them off or questioning their abilities, but simply being positive about their expected performance. Let the Ref know in an indirect manner that he is being watched closely. Worded in such a way that the ultimate message is clear, but doesn't open us to potential action from SPFL/SFA.... As for McCrorie's replacement, could they not stick someone like Bates in??? RMcC was always a CB until getting slotted in, so maybe Bates could do the same. However, I think it will probably be Barjonnas that will start, which I've no probs with - he has shown up well whenever he's played. -
King is the Chairman....Which in principal is a figure head-type position. It also grants him the casting vote over the Board. King/The Club employs a number of Directors who oversee the daily running of the Business - lets not kid ourselves here. At boardroom level, a football club is no different from any other business out there. Within that Board, it is the CEO - Stuart Robertson - who is in the Daily driving seat. He is the person entrusted by the Chairman/Shareholders to look after the running of the business. The location of the Chairman is completely irrelevant these days. There is no reason for him to be onsite daily/weekly/monthly. DK will be in regular contact with his Board of directors via phone/email/conference call/video call etc With the way phone systems work, it is even possible that DK's phone has an internal extension number, even though he's at the other side of the world. (Note: I actually know the engineer who upgraded RFC's phone system about 2 years ago). DK can be sitting in South Africa, connected directly into the RFC data servers, as if he's sitting in his office @ Ibrox - Remote working is common place now. So, DK's actual location should not delay or offer ANY hindrance to the running of the club. Dave King does not run the club by himself, though the media would have you believe this at times. He is also NOT the majority shareholder - he is the largest single shareholder, and as such has no power to force his ideas through. I don't know anything about Barry Scott....but the fact that he's in Hong Kong, will allow some folk to criticise his work based on his location. I'm pretty sure that he's been brought on board for his business acumen & financial resources, therefore his location is irrelevant.

but you never know until you ask??? Nobody thought Ceptic would be able to entice Brenda.....
-
Agents will talk to each other all the time.....
-
The option of 1st refusal of shares may have been written into the retail agreement with DK/Board, rather than with the specific buyers.
-
I always said that this is an important season for Brenda....Honeymoon season last year, but now the shine is starting to wear off slightly. Will be interesting to see how it's maintained through the rest of the season.

He's got Scottish experience and also won trophies

One of the key things I took from that interview was when Milne was asked if DM was "tapped up" by Rangers....you could clearly see that he didn't want to say NO, but he knew it to be the case. He simply referred to the timescale being too long. I think he'd have relished it IF we had tried to actually "Tap up" DM, Milne would be shouting it from the rooftops. It tells me, that Rangers followed the correct channels in approaching DM. They can moan about the timescale all they like, but there's nothing in the rules for that. As has been stated before - ALL the speculation & hype was drummed up by the Media - nothing to do with RFC.

The January Transfer Window Rumours and Deals Thread

But....It's the managers responsibility for putting a team out on the pitch come Saturday afternoon, and ultimately his responsibility for the team to be successful. If player acquisition is not led by the manager, then it is likely that the team won't function as well as it could. It's all well & good a DoF (for example) going out and buying players to fit a particular philosophy, but it's the manager that's working with him every day, and it will be the manager that gets fired if the player/team don't function properly. -
I also notice another name that was linked with the club several years ago - Felix Megath - is available. Though I think his age (64) may be prohibitive.
-
I notice from Transfermarkt that there are a large number of Scandinavian coaches available from the end of the year....could this be a healthy fishing ground???
-
As many have said before...the league is a marathon, not a sprint. Ceptic have dropped more points already, than they did the entire of last season - they are fading!!!
-
How could they knock back Oban....A wee ice cream fae the Pokey Hat & they'll be putty in yer hands
-
There were rumours about him several years ago....
-
Looking through that list....2 names certainly jumped out at me - Laurent Blanc - Luis Enrique I know folk will say we can't afford them, but why not sound them out? Neither appear to be working at the moment, so possibly get them on a relatively short term, with options to extend.

on a money basis....Ashley is one guy that you want on board - IF he is going to open the wallet and supply substantial investment. His past exploits would indicate that this is most likely not gonna happen. He is only interested in making money - football clubs don't have a good track record of doing that. Future Investment....sounds kinda pie-in-the-sky to me - remember Red Bull were looking to invest £100m (or in that region) in the club??? I would suggest that if Davie P wants his claims to be taken seriously, that he message the Admins with his sources for confirmation. The current Board....I think it's a bit much saying that they are useless etc. Each & every one of them is a successful businessman, each with more wealth than all of us combines (probably). They know how to run a business, and at boardroom level, that is exactly what a football club is.
-
If this guy is bringing further investment, that may fund a new manager.....
-
but....you need to get to the conversion about the "warchest" first. that conversation doesn't happen, if you haven't approached a candidate. The worst thing we want to do is publicise that we have £10m to spend in Jan window - other clubs will simply increase their asking prices coz they know we have cash to spend. As for the knockbacks.....that's a risk we have to take imho. McInnes was viewed as the "safe option", and look how that turned out. The Board must aim high, even if that mean more "soft"loans - they HAVE to pay whatever it takes to get the right person in place. It is a gamble, but hopefully one that pays off in the long run. Any new candidate should be assured that funds will be made available.....once a certain level of performance has been reached. We don't want to bring in a manager, hand him a shed-load of cash to bring in players, then sack him soon after (again). Any new manager should be told that progress is expected with the current batch of players before bringing in anyone new. However, IF justification can be made for a certain player, it will be considered. We simply can't go scraping the bottom of the barrel to get someone who may or may not be a success. I think the eventual appointment will indicate the Boards level of expectation moving forward. To me (& many other), McInness simply didn't show a high enough level.

BHEASTS Banner: “JERUSALEM IS PALESTINE FUCK TRUMP”

Life would be sooooo dull if it wasn't for those jolly craicsters..... -
but....you never know until you ask. I've always said through out this, they need to identify the best candidate possible 1st & foremost. Then approach them to see if they are interested in the job. Then & only then, should money come into the equation. From the outside, it looks to be money is the driving factor, then we see who will work for what we're paying - chances are, that WILL NOT result in the best possible candidate.
-
Fans keep says such & such is out of our league, not possible etc.....everyone thought that about the speculation of Rodgers. If they look like a good fit, you approach them, let THEM decided if they are interested & can structure a suitable deal.
