  1. I would imagine the pressure levels @ West Brom & Reading are considerably less than at Rangers.... Maybe, my original comment should have been " I would argue that Murty has better suited experience now than Clarke has." in that he is currently in the Gers hotseat. For someone that hasn't been an assistant else where, or managed "lower grade" english sides, Murty's stats are still impressive compared to Clarkes - 66% to 52% win ratio. If Clarke was to replace Murty at the end of the season....How long would fans give him, before getting on his back??? I would estimate not very long at all - a couple of poor performances, maybe a couple of defeats before pointing towards the exit... The problem is that fans are judging him solely on what he's done at Killie over the past 6 months. If Murty is to be replaced, we don't need a manager with a good 6-8 month track record.....we need someone who has a notable record for a number of years - that's the only way of reducing risk. What we don't want is another Pedro episode, whereby the new manager brings in (predominantly) a load of middle to below par players, with whom we're stuck with for 3 yrs. I still believe that if getting a good candidate in, means less player budget, then it must be done. While our current squad is not perfect or where we would like it to be, it has proven that it is certainly better than the rest, and is a match for Ceptic. We have the component parts to perform well next season, we just need someone that can bind them together & produce a level of consistency that we haven't had.
  2. Steve Clarke's managerial record ain't all that great. Serving as an assistant under some top managers, doesn't mean he will make a great manager himself - Exhibit No. 1....Mr A McCoist. G Murty Managerial record: S Clarke Managerial record:
  3. It makes Rangers 2nd best, and Killie 5th - that's what the current table shows...
  4. How many games has he been in charge for??? Is it enough time to base the foreseeable future/success of Rangers on???
  5. And you're taking into account the games that Murty wasn't in charge....We have to base things on FACT, and the fact is that Kilmarnock are nothing more than a mid-table side. Yes, Clarke is doing a good job for them just now but everyone went on about how great a job McInnes was doing at Aberdeen, until we pumped them twice (under Murty's guidance). Clarke has zero experience of managing at a high level. I would argue that Murty has more experience now than Clarke has. If we were to swap Murty for Clarke, what advantage would we really see??? Ultimately, time will tell how good a manager Clarke really is - that maybe sooner rather than later, we don't know.
  6. What is becoming clear to me on this thread and on others, is that it should be OK for us to let off smoke bombs etc because they don't/can't cause harm....however, if they are thrown my opposition fans then they are lethal & said fans should be hunted down like vermin. Our fans are obviously more responsible & if we did use in a dangerous manner, it would be the fault of the Scot Govt or the Police anyway. Our fans should also be allowed to behave in any manner they wish, coz other fans do it & that makes it ok. Should we also welcome back & encourage organised gang fights before/after/during games, coz that would be a right laugh for everyone.... I may be wrong....but I though civilised society had move on from all that???
  7. but, Kilmarnock are still sitting 5th in the league, which would indicate that even though they have taken points from us & them, they are still a mediocre team. Is a mid-table, Scot Premiership manager the answer to our problems??? What happens if Clarke is brought in, then gets gubbed in his 1st game against them??? or has a poor start to the season??? That is always going to be a gamble, no matter who it is, but by aiming higher that risk is reduced.
  8. look at the like of Clarke etc....the question has to be asked - have they challenged Brenda/Ceptic??? Ultimately, the answer is no. Therefore what is the point in looking at managers from within the Scottish league, when they have failed to regularly take points from them.....who says that stepping into the Rangers job, they are going to do the same level of job as with their current clubs??? If we truly want to get a someone in of the required standard, we MUST splash cash on them - even if that means sacrificing players to do so. So far, I think GM has done a good job, and is learning all the time. He has the team playing well (most of the time) & between GM & Mark Allen, we have brought in decent players.
  9. Can you please point out some specific examples where the SNP, as a party, have commented negatively about Rangers??? There are examples of individuals commenting via their official MSP/MP accounts, which shouldn't be allowed & I will be contacting the party to raise this. Throughout this thread, I have only see 3 (I think) names mentioned from the SNP - how does that reflect that Party as a whole?? The most vocal, and often mentioned is Dornan, who has made it quite clear where his support lies. Other than that, there have been very few - out of a total of 62 MSP's & 35 MP's.....so we're actually talking about a VERY small minority of folk here, that is hardly representative of the entire party...
  10. Why should he??? I think many of those that have worn the arm band since Waldo has been out have done so very well. I thought Tav in recent weeks has done a great job. Personally, I've always felt that Waldo is too quiet a person to be effective....we need someone who will shout & communicate to the other players when required. Wallace's main strength is leading by example, which is not a bad thing, I he needs to be more vocal.
  11. Simple question... Should Lee Wallace automatically be handed the Captain's armband when/if he returns to the starting 11???
  12. Nothing to do with Politics....its reality!!! Stop blaming the Scot Govt, for issues that they have nothing to do with. Safety within the stadium is Ultimately the responsibility of the Club & Police. Between them they will determine the number of Police officers & stewards required in order to provide a safe environment. I would imagine that primary responsibility for safety within the stadium will rest with the Club. If visitors to the Stadium don't believe that safety standards are adequate, then who should they complain to - Scot Govt???? No, they complain to the club.
  13. time to grow up & get real....Do the Govt run the police on a Day-to-day basis??? No....If there is unequal treatment of fans within the stadium, then take it up with the club - possibly via C1872. The merging of the Police forces has absolutely NOTHING to do with Officers ensuring safety standards inside a football ground - the officers daily jobs or requirements hasn't changed because they are now a unified Police Scotland. Please elaborate on how Politicians in Edinburgh have responsibility for the weekly safety/security arrangements for a football match. Politician may well pass legislation with regard to safety within Stadiums, but it is NOT their responsibility to ensure that those legislation are adhered to - that is the job of the Police force & the Stewards (ie the Club).
  14. No...Safety within the stadium is the responsibility of the Police & the club (via their stewards). If the Police say they are unable to check everyone entering the ground, then its up to the club to provide adequate resource if that is required. I believe it will be the Stewards that will primarily be responsible for safety inside the stadium, therefore it is there's & the Clubs responsibility to ensure that no illegal or unwanted items are allowed in. Nothing to do with the Govt.
  15. The club is registered to the SCOTTISH FA, the parent company is SCOTTISH registered and when playing abroad, represents SCOTLAND. Therefore the club is 1st & foremost SCOTTISH, since there is no British Football Assoc. or even any cross-border initiatives etc. I would say that the Club is more (officially) Royalist, than Unionist - this is shown by the various portraits of the Queen. However, I believe that the unionism is generated by the fans and probably originates from the Royalist belief. Many folk will believe that you can't be Royalist & Pro-Indy...which isn't true.
  16. Should we REALLY be basing Murty's future on whether he beats Ceptic this season or not??? His record against them ain't that bad - played 3, lost 1, drawn 2. What happens if we get A.N Other big name manager/coach in next season, and gets beat in the 1st OF game of the season - sack him?? I think it is clear to everyone that what Murty (& Allen) have achieved so far is pretty damned good....the team are playing considerable better than they have for a while, we are winning games and we're causing the opposition all sorts of problems. It's also highly likely that we will finish in 2nd this season, with not a massive gap between us & them. Look at the teams performances in the last 2 OF games....the last one, we were the better team overall & they were lucky to get a draw. The last one, we gave them a right good game, and got in front of them twice, with several excellent chances to increase our goal tally. IF Murty is to be offered the job, I wouldn't offer it on a long term basis - annual rolling deal would be ideal.
  17. no idea what their banners were, but if they support the union (as their name suggests), fine....just don't tell me or any other fan what we should or should not believe or support.
  18. I have absolutely nothing against them....just their stupid stunt at the weekend.
  19. Can someone please point out any specific area SNP policy that is Anti-Rangers??? The comments etc mention in the original article are attributed to specific people and are not representative of SNP policy. The main issue is that their comments etc were made from their "work" accounts rather than personal one. and for the record, I don't buy into all the Britishness shite...the union flags, one great nation etc. I don't agree that Rangers are a British club - there is no British football association, never has been. Rangers are Scottish - always has been, always will be...in the eyes of EUFA/FIFA, Scotland is a completely separate entity to England - There is no British!!! By all means be Royalist, and support the Queen....but that is a different thing completely. I am also a fully paid up member of the SNP, and avid supporter of full Independence for Scotland - both of which have absolutely no bearing on which football team I support. Now there appears to folk on here telling me that I shouldn't be able to support Rangers, due to also wanting what is best for my country. Politics should play absolutely ZERO part of supporting a football team!!!
  20. Why do we need "ultras" anyway??? because they have them???
  21. The focus of these things is all wrong....and it's not just reserved for football matters/coverage. In general, the population are told about individual/specific issues, very rarely are we openly told about the big/main issues that are going on. As for the incendiary throwing....I would like to think that work will be ongoing in the background, with evidence being gathered. That's also another point.....as far as the media goes - if they have more visual evidence to support a story, they will run with it. The UB's have provided everything the media need on a plate. for the throwing of the incendiary items, at the moment there is only witness statements - there doesn't appear to be any video or photos. I'm sure the clubs CCTV would have picked up something though & would like to think the club will pursue in the correct manner, via the correct channels.
  22. They should NEVER be our point of reference!!! We are better than that.
  23. who cares if their fans are scared of our fans....pointless argument. So if everyone things we're rabid bigots anyway, we shouldn't even bother to try & change that??? We just bow to their opinion & stereotyping of us??? So your plan is to push back against anyone who hates the club, by acting in a manner that actually solidifies & supports many of their reasons for hating us in the 1st place. Sound logic.
  24. No it wasn;t...it was overstepping the boundaries IMHO. This march had NOTHING to do with pushing back against the press or anyone else - it was nothing more than an excuse for open hatred & sectarianism. If they wanted to march..fine, but why have it will all the dark overtones - the flier, the banner, the flares, sectarian singing etc. Why not make it fun, bright & loud. Encourage fans of all ages etc to join in - show the local media & the world what Rangers fans are truly about. Instead, they show everyone that they are actually no better than any other extremist "ultra" group - no better than those they hate themselves (The Green Brigade).
  25. oh well then....why bother changing???
