Dave Messi is a decent player (no relation to Lionel)....lost a bit of pace since losing both legs, but not afraid of a strong tackle (in fairness, his wheelchair does give him an advantage).
-
Exactly....the DoF oversees the leg work in scouting players to meet the managers requirements, discusses the options with the manager, who then says "I want X, Y,Z" & the DoF tries to make it happen. Means the manager is not concerning himself about contract negotiations etc and can focus on the playing side of things.

Always amuses me how the media wax lyrical about how amazing Brown is & how he could walk into virtually any 1st team in the world, yet when was the last time there was ANY rumours about anyone wanting to sign him??? As for POTY.....Aye right. (but he'll probably win it...)

I'm not a fan of reliving "past glories", but McGregor was & I'd assume still is, a top notch keeper. I'd have more confidence with him in goal than Fods. I believe Shagger will also take command of the box better than Fods, so hopefully pull the defense together a bit better.

playing devils advocate (somewhat here...) The original Hibs statement reads "A decision will be made on splitting the South Stand for the Kilmarnock and Rangers game based on demand and sales in the coming week.". Therefore it is not a given that the allocation will actually be cut. Based on normal travelling support, you would assume that there would be plenty of demand to fill the entire ground, never mind just one stand - and I'm sure Hibs well know this!!! Nothing more than a wee poke at the Bear.... IF the allocation is reduced, we simply reduce their allocation accordingly.....but still have them sitting in the same number of seats so that their support looks tiny

Nah...it's Kneel Lemon

That'll be LORD Firestarter......

The 2 roles MUST act together, otherwise the whole system falls apart. Essentially, the DoF handles all the admin-type stuff & looks after scouting etc. The Coach/Manager looks after the actual playing side of things inc squad selection & tactics. He will go to the DoF requesting a player for a particular position & what attributes he's looking for. The DoF will then search the market for players that meet the requirement. That list is presented to the Manager who selects his targets....the DoF then handles the negotiations etc for those players. The process should allow the manager to focus on the playing side of things and leave the DoF to bridge the gap between playing & boardroom/admin staff.

It would certainly ease the strain on the underground (quite considerably).....bigger train would allow fans to be removed from the area much quicker.

Warburton was an "interesting" appointment & got a lot of folk excited due to what he had done down south. We definitely need more of a "known" entity - someone to rival Brenda. the need to make an immediate impact on the team & instill a real consistency from one game to the next. I was listening to part of Clyde SSB last night & the asked a Gers-caller if Sundays win offered a confidence boost ahead of the Old firm game. My initial though was no....our form in general has been so inconsistent we can go from a great game one week, to absolute dross the next. Any new manager MUST address that as a priority.

But the club needs to develop a workable strategy with the assistance of a Manager/Coach. To date, we haven't had a manager who has been able to implement a consistent & sustainable strategy/philosophy.
-
The DoF & Manager/Coach have to work in tandem, with the Manager/Coach telling the DoF what positions he needs & what attributes he is looking for. It's then the DoF responsibility to find such players. This process kinda breaks down when the Manager/Coach is probably not going to be there after the end of the season. The fall back would be scouting players based on a CLUB philosophy, rather than a managerial one - we then need to get a manager/coach that can work within & implement that philosophy. (someone stop the roundabout...I wanna get off....) Hopefully, plans are in place wrt to the manager for next season, playing philosophy & player recruitment.....

match thread (image) [FT] Rangers 2 - 1 Hearts (Cummings, Candeias)

The most notable thing for me yesterday was the players challenging & chasing every ball - I lost count of the number of "steals" from Hearts players. If they close down & challenge like that next week, Ceptic will struggle. -
Only then, will some folk realise what we actually had..... Yes, he does miss chances but I would rather he was getting into those positions to miss, than be posted missing himself (as has happened all to often with strikers in recent years). He also works VERY hard & gives defenders a lot of problems.

I'm sure it will, and with the added benefit of it looking more distinctive than many other strips, that's gotta be a massive positive. I'm not sure exactly what people are wanting here.....Hummel are a well known, global brand, but apparently not a suitable or big enough for Rangers. They would rather be a tiny fish in a massive pond - as if the manufacturer of the kit is going to increase sales. The kit will sell in large numbers regardless of who the manufacturer is. There were folk shouting & complaining about Puma when they were 1st announced, overall they produced good strips etc, but were not without fault. I'm actually quite excited to see the new strip design - if they are anything like the fan mock-ups, they will look outstanding. -
Standard 2 weeks.....maybe 3, not not a day more. Get them back in & work them until they start throwing up - raise the fitness levels above ANYTHING else in the league. Push every single player to their absolute limits. Based on a number of their performances this season....they deserve nothing less.

....and which direction is the curve going???

Would like to see Dodoo, Rossiter, O'halloran & Herrera getting some game time before the end of the season. - would (hopefully) show potential buyers that they are fit etc - might actually add something a bit different to the squad
-
so give him a less mobile role - tell him to stick to a central & don't let ANYTHING through. Weir was as mobile as a Dumbarton rock, but he was still effective when utilised properly.
-
Don't know anything about him but MPH seems like an obvious candidate to approach since he's currently a free agent (more cash for wages).
