Pena is an annoying one....the lad clearly has bags of skill & Talent, but just doesn't appear to focus enough on his playing. Maybe SG could impart some of his experience/wisdom to Pena & give him a glimpse of what he could be. I fear, however that will NOT be the case.

match thread (image) [FT] Aberdeen 1 - 1 Rangers (McCrorie 63)

That fact is that they did get a wrongly awarded penalty & they scored. We then struggled to stay in the game & only managed to scrape an equaliser. We are better than that....we shouldn't be resorting to blaming the ref for our results (except for the hibs game at the start of the season.) Last night the ref was seriously inconsistent to both teams & clearly had a shocker of a game, but ultimately WE lost ourselves 2 points. You can't blame the ref for our teams total collapse following the penalty - all that did was highlight our teams mental fragility. -

Can't deny that...however IMHO, they were gifted their point due to our complete collapse in the 1st half, following their goal. 30min where we struggled to get a touch of the ball, never mind a shot at goal. 30mins where our 2nd touch was a tackle. 30mins where we could string 2 passes together. Normally, we would have at least expected to go into the break at 1-1, but due to our complete uselessness that was NEVER gonna happen. -

If we had continued to play as we did in the 1st 10-15mins, it should have been a comfortable win - but how often have we seen that happen. Last night, we improved in the 2nd half because we HAD to. We should have had enough last night to score 2 or 3....but we didn't, or more accurately couldn't - and that ain't down to the ref. Yes, we shouldn't have been a goal down, but at the same time our inability to play basic football prevented us from recovering from that goal. -

I'm probably in the minority here....but I don't think the ref robbed us last night....we simply weren't good enough. While the ref got the penalty decision wrong, I don't think the early dominance we showed would have continued. As others have said, our team is fragile and all it would have taken was a few tweaks to Aberdeen's formation & we would have been in the same boat. -
I disagree...I think GM would have possibly got a win against Aberdeen - he had a good record against them. I certainly don't think he'd have got less points.

you took that too far....;)

That's the killer for me....JN is supposed to be a 1st team coach, yet didn't know where key players could play - what's he been doing for the past 4-5 months??? I have to question what he actually brings to the team. Over the past 2 games, I have not seen any real change or improvement in the team, even though they should know they are playing to impress a new manager. Last night it was more of the same old problems. We started brightly enough, moving the ball around then lost the goal & EVERYTHING fell apart - passing, movement, communication....nothing was working. Kevin Drinkell was saying as much in the commentary. THAT is where the managers influence has to be seen...not in a confined dressing room. JN was completely unable to influence or motivate the players after losing the goal - we were chasing ghosts for 30mins. The previous game, again no much different....struggling to break down the opposition & only grabbing a winner in the dying minutes. I do accept that JN is only in charge for 3 games, but he's supposedly been working with the team on a daily basis for 4-5 months, yet seems as devoid of ideas as Murty. I say a total clean sweep for Gerrard when he arrives - clear the decks.

The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals
Darthter replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
We need to be looking at players that will add overall value to the team (as MW said). That value should be longer term than one season. eg. Young talent comes in & performs brilliantly for 1 season, then sold for a profit - his value to the team is obviously his contribution, but also re-investing the cash earned in order to move forward. Aging players may provide a touch of quality for a season (if they stay fit), but they offer nothing beyond that. Niko, Dorrans, Alves being very recent examples.....even their contribution has been nothing special when they have played, so what benefit has their experience brought??? The real question is "What constitutes experience???" Danny Wilson has played over 200 pro matches, inc Champ League and is still only 26.....yet wasn't viewed as experienced or influential. Similar applies to Jason Holt (25). While not the most gifted players, they have a value attached to them. As far as experience goes, we have players in our current squad with several years experience of the Scottish game, that still struggle - even Alves has generally struggled. If I was Gerrard or Mark Allen, I'd be putting a maximum age limit in place of maybe 28 (ish) -
first & foremost, we need a team that functions together.....cost of which is virtually zero. Look at the teams that have taken points from Ceptic this season, they're entire teams probably cost less than one of their players...yet they still took points because the operate as a single, effective unit - we don't. As a result of that, we could bring in multiple high-value players & still be no better. Hopefully SG will bring in that team mentality....then start throwing in some better players & the overall level of the TEAM will increase.

Lee Wallace and Kenny Miller both fined for bust up with Murty

I certainly don't disagree that there are better players out there than Windass.....but right now, he's here & doing an (overall) alright job. -

There's a good chance that Freddo just needs a wee break. I also think is "dry spell" has been in conjunction with a general downturn in team performances. -
Hummel kit deal also begins today (June 1st)

Looking forward to seeing the final design. I think Hummel as a brand offer a slightly different design options, which give a very fresh look. -

I'd like to see Goss back in the midfield....I think he could add some creativity - he knows how to play a pass, and good from dead-balls. He seemed to be doing OK for a while, then just disappeared from the 1st team. I think McCrorie, Goss & Docherty would make an interesting setup - all young, with talent & energy. -

While the likes of Windass' work rate is notably lower than Millers, I would say that his overall contribution is better. Miller does a lot of running, with very little to show for it. Internal investigations CAN take a while - it all depends on the number of interviews needing conducted and the various bits of evidence (for & against) that has to be collated. Remember that there are set procedures that MUST be followed with regard to employment law. The investigation must be thorough & fair. -
I like what he said when asked about the style of football....it's all about the win.

Listening to Talksport on way home, very amusing. 1st caller I heard was a ceptic fan & tried to spout the usual stuff, and couldnt understand why SG would go anywhere near us. The host then possed the question "are you saying SG doesn't know what he's doing?". Mr Unwashed then started going on about kings tax history....only to be closed down immediately & referred back to the question that had been asked. The call then ended.

What a load of mince....Where's Windass gonna fit in???

They are not being told WHAT to say...just don't publicly criticise the Govt. What do you think would happen if a Rangers employee came out on FB/Twitter/TV and said that DK is a d*ck and that he couldn't run a p*ss up in a brewry - I'm pretty sure there would be some kind of disciplnary action taken against that employee....this is the same thing.

Something that I'm sure many major organisations (possibly inc Rangers) will require of their staff. It simply ensures a unified public face & that there aren't individuals running to the press to publicly criticize anything they don't agree with. Sandaza was was sacked for a similar reason - speaking about sensitive club info in a taxi (if memory is correct). It may have been a similar rule applied to Wallace & Miller.
