  1. Will we???? Walter has spent a lot of time at the club over the years, yet the scouting & youth stuff have still been neglected!!! Why would it change now??? IMHO, that is the benefit of new-blood/fresh eyes....
  2. What will be interesting is....If we start again in Div3, would the other clubs increase their ticket prices for Rangers matches??? and if so, by how much???
  3. Here's an addition to the "What if...." question.... What if CG makes provision for a fan's appointed Board member???
  4. I think if Walter & Co. release some further details about their "bid", including some financial details, the sceptics would be more inclined to get behind him, and therefore a greater chance of unity. Everyone is going on about transparency - maybe Smith & McColl could maybe show some!!!!
  5. as I said earlier.....is he allowed to invest anything???
  6. I voted SPL. While I love the dream of going into Div3 and working back up, I don't think the finances would allow it to be possible.
  7. Valid points....
  8. Is he allowed to back anyone financially??? Was there not restriction on what he can do with his money???
  9. Doesn't quite state they have nae cash..... He says there is some money there with a further £4m probably coming in within the month.
  10. Not seen any evidence of that yet??? sure there have been media reports, but he's still managed to complete the deal. Anyhow, I think thats where the financial blueprint is required. I think that because of how Whyte financed the club, the fans would be more comfortable if CG was to display something showing what funds are in place & how they were achieved.
  11. What if CG decides that he's not going to sell @ any price, and is determined to return the club to its rightful place at the top of Scottish football??? Surely that would show his determination & dedication to the ongoing success of the club?? What if he was to outline a clear & concise plan (5yr maybe), on what he plans to do?? What if he provides a detailed financial blueprint showing where the investment is coming from & where it's going to go??? Would the support start to rally round???
  12. Technically, that's exactly what they're in it for!!!! A good, strong, healthy club = profit. So its in CG's best interests to ensure that the club is run properly & successfully.
  13. Is that not basically what CG has said he'll do??? Once his job is done, he's offski. As someone pointed out, another article with lots of mibees - no direct quotes, and no actual figures to report. We'll see over the next few days if an official bid comes to fruition.
  14. Didn't Motherwell report a profit last year???? A profit (or at least break even) is possibly, providing that even the most limited revenue streams are maximised, and that there is no excessive spending. How often do we make a decent profit on a player sale - Jelavic is about the only recent example that I can think of, and even then we could probably have made more. Buy cheap...sell high = profit!!!
  15. It's more about backing the Club....not him alone!!! Do season ticket boycotts count as backing the club??? I think the support needs to back the club, regardless of who is in charge!!!
  16. which between McColl & Park is pocket change.....alternatively, they could invest a couple Mil each and get their seat on the board!!!
  17. Regarding funding & Mccoll etc.... Remember Brian Kennedy's involvement. BK is in the top 10 richest people in Britain (granted I think McColl is possibly one of the top...), yet how much money was Kennedy actually putting on the table. Just because an individual is loaded, doesn't mean he's going to plow significant funds into the club. Also, McColl & Park didn't make their money by being stupid - they did it by being smart businessmen. I have no doubt that they will be looking for something in return (possibly long term???)
  18. What exactly has CG done that proves to the fans that he's as bad as Whyte.
  19. Thought that's exactly what CG has done????
  20. I think folk in general need to take a wee chill pill for a few days!!!! Green's consortium have taken ownership. Why not let him get his board/structure in place, get his feet under the table properly and get a full business plan in place. IMHO, Watty's bid doesn't help the situation any - it just puts immense & undue pressure on the new owner(s). Green has stated that his consortium is there to make money - they're business men, why wouldn't they want to make money. What is Watty/McColl's motivation - they're Rangers men...that's it!!! How does ANYONE know that McColl etc are going to run things any better than Green is capable of??? Where were McColl etc when the club was for sale for several years?? Where were they when Whyte took over??? where were they when Miller looked like taking over??? NOWHERE!!! The chose to surface just as the deeds were being signed over the CG's consortium. As for Season ticket boycotts - are folk seriously willing to gamble on such an important revenue stream for the club (regardless of owner)??? I say folk should take a bit of a breather, and let things progress....
  21. So, it's taken them since Feb 14th to decide "we have to do something"..... Also refusing to reveal ANY details about the consortium or its levels of funding - wasn't Green's consortium strung up for exactly the same thing??? and, they are stating that they don't actually want to own a football club (I believe this has been reported before...) - what does that say about the groups long term commitment to the running of the club???
  22. Questions need to be asked of any owner....but certain questions can't be answered for definite just yet. The fact is that CG's consortium are the new owners of Rangers - Watty & his pals left it far too late!!! McColl & Park have been linked with the club for years and haven't stumped up....they have chosen to wait until the club is almost dead and going on the cheap, then they quickly throw in an offer. Green has opened the door to these investors, and to Watty.....if they are serious, they will accept the invitation - I don't believe they will. As for Green....as it stands I see no reason for giving him the grief that he's getting. So far he has delivered everything that he said he would: - CVA....Done - Funding from June 1st....Done - Purchase of assets if CVA fails....Done - Announce investors/backers....Done (though incomplete) - Announce board....Done (though incomplete) Granted his interviews can contain some "flaky" content/details, and some maybe contradictory but this has been a very fluid situation and some things have obviously changed. The club in moving forward, I find it kinda worrying that a number of supporters instantly jumped behind Watty's last minute bid. The club needs the support behind it!!!
  23. or....sales of Sharpie permanent markers will go through the roof.
