  1. Whoever wins Div1....which, depending on who's in that league could be rather interesting. Peterhead v Barca, Elgin v Real Madrid anyone???
  2. Note: not fully thought this through yet.... How about wiping the slate totally clean.....dissolve the leagues as they stand just now and restart with a straight forward 3 tier structure - with possibly 16 or 18 teams per division. The leagues are then randomly populated with the member teams. This may mean that Ceptic end up in Div 3, Us in Div 2, Utd in Div 1 etc. Over the years, the leagues would then level themselves out, with the cream rising to the top etc. However, in the process of that happening, many of the smaller teams will reap the benefits of regular games against the "big boys", as we are seeing in the 3rd div at the moment. Combine that with a fairer cut for all teams of sponsorship & TV revenue, and it may just work. I also think that such a drastic restructuring would bring back interest in the game as a whole (teams playing new opponents etc)....
  3. I could recommend a couple of very reputable Administrators, with recent experience in the Scottish game...
  4. so why celebrate the centenary on 1988???
  5. This has been niggling me for a while..... Celtic were officially founded in 1888, they then celebrated their Centenary in 1988. Now, I know my maths may not be the best, but does 2012 - 1888 = 124??? I also saw an advert in the paper which showed their badge with 1888-2013 on it. I trust that Celtic do realise that its still only 2012..... As for Rangers celebrating their 140 years.....hopefully they will be shouting it from the rooftops. From what I've read, there seems to be some good plans in the pipeline!!!
  6. Champion's league is now officially over - Celtic have won it!!! Fair play though....they have just beaten Barca - a good achievement in anyone's book....
  7. Will they get a 4 page pull-out spread in the Daily Record though???
  8. Daniel Prodan???
  9. NEVER gonna happen.... Anyone investing/owning the club will expect some kind of return.
  10. Then again, the whole team has struggled on the road!!!
  11. Quote from Barrie McKay about Saturdays match: That's exactly what we need, and something we've been lacking for a wee while IMHO.....someone who lifts their head & runs at the opposing defence. With McKay, Aird & Templeton, it is hopefully something we're gonna see an awful lot more of.
  12. It MAY have been at the time.....before the other's came to the table.
  13. I'd maybe not quite put it like that....I would more say we sit back, with a quiet inner glow, and a totally smug "I told you so" look on our face.
  14. or...giving crap advise that's being followed...
  15. Looking at that from a slightly different viewpoint....They won't have any of that withheld money next season - so what then???
  16. Facts....that's all. At one point in time there was a 15 point gap in favour of us...couple of months later, a 4 point in favour of them. no hatchet job or exaggerating any claims - only FACT!!!
  17. Did Ceptic win those games??? the 2nd set of figures shown have both teams level on games played, so it was after they can played their games in hand, the the 19 point swing still stands!!!
  18. The registration embargo only applies to players over 18. Normal transfer rules still apply for anyone under-18.
  19. We need one on each wing though..... as it is, everything has been going down the left.
  20. I think it would be beneficial to look to countries with experience of producing quality youth systems/players. Then look at up & coming coaches/managers from those countries, that have the drive and ambition to advance the clubs footballing philosophies and practices. You don't necessarily need experience to be a successful manager, but you do need the correct vision. Pep Guardiola is a good example - how many teams has he managed in his career??? The answer is 2 - Barcelona B for a year, then Barcelona for 4 years. Granted he had an abundance of quality players to utilise, but he had the vision to pull it all together & be highly successful.
  21. ICT watched the Motherwell game & adapted accordingly.....McCoist watched the Motherwell game & tried nothing different. He doesn't appear to be learning or adapting at all.....
  22. I'm still not 100% convinced by Cribari..... I think one of the biggest problems with the defence is the apparent lack of communication. I don't know how good Cribari's english is, but it certainly can't be helping things. I would like to see maybe Hegarty & Perry in the middle. These 2 have known each other for years & probably played side-by-side on a number of occasions. As for Black in the middle of the park.....I think he suffers from Barry ferguson syndrome - he's trying too hard to be everywhere & do everything. As a result, he's doing nothing particularly well or consistently. He should stick to the middle of the park where he can control the flow of things, take the ball and distribute accordingly. I also think the right wing needs looked at - there appears to be very little traffic up there. On the left we have Wallace & Aird/Sheils tanking up & down all day long, but on the right virtually nothing. DerBerliner's setup with Argy & McKay may allow for more movement on that side. One thing I heard on the commentary last night....that was the 1st time since the very start of the season that McCoist had gone with the same starting 11 for 2 games in a row.....
  23. Simply winning Div3 isn't good enough IMHO.....the team need to show signs of improvement & development. They need to show everyone that they are a TEAM to be reckoned with and that they will fight tooth & nail for every ball & every point - you don't need top starts to do that. We need to show that there are building blocks being put in place so that when we reach the top tier again, we will be a team that is feared. So far those signs are not there (IMHO) The defense are of particular concern - there appears to zero in the way of communication, with the exception being Alexander who constantly communicates to all 21 other players as to where he's gonna lump the ball to. The frail defense could be having an effect on midfield, as players are having to track back in order to strengthen the defensive line, therefore not fully committed to their own role.
  24. quick answer....NO. I see it as a simple PR stunt. The fans love Walter (in general) and if there's a hint that he's going to be involved in running the club, they would buy into it - look at the support he got when it looked like he was fronting a bit to buy the club!!! I totally agree that we need a freshness in the boardroom. Folk with sound, forward thinking football knowledge for the Club board, and folk with sound business sense for the PLC board. Let Walter enjoy his retirement.
