  1. Good move for Bell.... It may also help force Alexander's hand. Without another quality keeper on the books, the ball was in Alexander's court, However, now Ally has the ball, and can issue a "take it or leave it" offer to Alexander.
  2. wonder what the security guy was saying....."'scuse me pal, this is a private park....ye's cannae play here"
  3. Strange course of events on the same day.... 1st....Juve train @ Murray Park 2nd....Pope Bennedict announces that he's quiting at the end of the month Coincidence???
  4. McGregor, Hutton, Adam, Naismith, Burke, Webster, Miller (Sub), Wallace (Sub not used) - Every one a Ger @ some point. 6 of the starting 11, compared to 3 for "them". Don't forget Stuart McCall as well. As for Strachan & McGhee...I personally associate them more with Aberdeen than "them"......
  5. I would suggest questions about: - Training levels....What does an average days training involve....how long are the players @ MP....based on recent performances - is the training up to scratch. - Scouting.....why is it Sh*t??? - Team motivation....Why is there none??? I would tend to keep away from direct questions like "When's McCoist & co getting the sack", Answers can be obtained in a slightly more round about manner....
  6. Made a slight alteration on that point....

    Alex McLeish

I think either Butcher or McCall would be good shouts. they have both done well domestically, and both try to play decent football. Coupled with the fact that they are used to working on tight budgets, yet still produce the goods, I'd say they are a good shout. McLeish did pretty well in his previous stint as manager, but I think we should be looking forward, not backwards. Bring in someone with fresh ideas etc...
  8. its like..." the current 12-team top tier ain't working....lets fix it by adding a 2nd tier of 12 - that'll sort things out!!!"
  9. The only reason they are getting "consensus" is because there are no other options put in front of them. All the clubs have been told is 12-12-18 or nothing. When faced with other options consensus will be tricky due to folk having to actually discuss the merits & pitfalls of each suggestion - commonly known as debate!!! If your reasons behind a particular proposal are good enough, consensus will be achieved. Single league body, better financial distribution, play-offs, more promotion/relegation, pyramid systems.....not one of these is dependent on league structure & could be implemented at ANY time. As for meaningless games....tell that to the clubs sitting 7th & 8th in the top section, and the club sitting 1st & 2nd in the 3rd section (post 8-8-8 split) - no relegation & no promotion = nothing to play for = totally meaningless games. If the SFA/SPL want fans to back their 12-12-18 proposal, they need to come out and specify EXACTLY why that format is going to work better than any other. Simply telling the fans that is better, ain't gonna swing any support regardless of how many times they say it. Hopefully the SFL sides will see sense and vote against the proposal - especially the ones that would be in the lowest 18-team league.....as the SPL/SFA have already made it clear that an 18-team league is not good enough for the top tier due to too many meaningless games....
  10. Aberdeen have been pumped out of EVERY cup since season 89/90.....cup exists aren't the most reliable of stats. Unless you win the cup, you chalk up another exit..... Given the turmoil the team has gone through, the cup runs are probably worse than usual.
  11. can't disagreed with those points....however when Levein made his comments, folk on here were up in arms claiming (rightly) that Wallace was possibly the best LB in the country and that the league he plays in should have no bearing. Now though, folk are saying that because we are in Div 3, and therefore a lower standard of football, that is why the players are under performing, and therefore agreeing 100% with what Levein originally said - we can't have it both ways!!! A number of players that we bought were performing well in the SPL, they don't become bad players overnight due to the standard of opposition. Good players in a bad league, doesn't make them bad players.
  12. Yet folk were up in arms when Craig Levein stated that due to playing in Div3 & therefore at a lower quality, he wouldn't pick Lee Wallace. Many folk complained that dropping down the leagues doesn't automatically make you a bad player....now though, folk are using it as an excuse as to why top SPL performers from last season aren't playing well.....
  13. The team has generally been under performing for a while now. As a team, we have been "grinding out" far too many results - even with a higher standard of player. to me, this points to some kind of back-room/off field issue. As I have stated in a previous thread, I don't know what the exact problem is, and I have even less of an idea how to fix it, but it certainly appears to be something rooted in the off-field setup. We are a full time professional club, that is being made to look mediocre by a number of part-time teams and other teams over the years who we should be beating reasonably comfortable. The opposition is no longer scared of playing us - they believe they have a chance to take points every time we play. I read/heard a quote somewhere "He who fears death, will surly meet it"....I get the impression that all too often we are fearing defeat and as such we struggle to dominate & ultimately conquer. This is an attitude that MUST be worked on during training (amongst other things)
  14. I subscribe to RangerTV, and the stream is CONSIDERABLY better that the free-type ones!!! For fans abroad, it's probably not too much of an outlay to see their team play. If CG can convince more of them to subscribe then it all benefits the club long term!!!
  15. I was under the impression that all games were available live to overseas subscribers....it's only us in the UK that have to watch them delayed (or the odd Pay per view...)
  16. There's a possibility that a decision HAS been made....it's just Lord Nimmo hasn't been told what it is yet (just to keep up the "independent" charade...)
  17. I don't think they do know what they are doing.... If they were switched on, they would listen to what is going on around them.....Henry McLeish's report suggested a top league of 10, the fans all seem to be wanting a bigger top division, several clubs have questioned the proposed setup, but "accepted" it as the only option on the table, many folk have commented that the proposal is not a perfect solution......yet what do Doncaster & co do - heads in sand, and push on with their own idea. All the signs are saying the proposed system is not what folk want or believe to be the solution, yet they push on regardless. Doesn't sound very switched on to me. Sounds to me that they are pushing through a proposal that benefits a VERY small minority, and trying to claim it is for "the greater good".
  18. totally agree....however there is an element of social responsibility. Where is his proof - an anonymous email with 2 names on it???? Hardly concrete evidence. What if his "proof" is later shown to be completely wrong??? He could probably get done with slander/libel (cannae mind the difference). While Leggat isn't responsible for how some peoples react or behave, he does have a responsibility knowing how previous instances like this have unraveled and the potential grief that may be caused to these individuals. If he has proof about these guys, then surely a formal complaint to their employers is a much better way to deal with the situation - this would obviously need to be backed up with concrete evidence.
  19. Will you still be saying that when the media is crawling with reports that these 2 guys have been inundated with threats of violence etc???
  20. Will be interesting to hear the SPL/SFA response to this.....
  21. I see another transfer embargo being enforce on Hearts....obviously not kicking in until the current windows closes, and will run until the next window opens - That'll show them!!!
  22. 1 - strip titles 2 - strip titles & hefty fine 3 - strip titles 4- strip titles & hefty fine 5 - strip titles 6- strip titles & hefty fine 7 - strip titles 8- strip titles & hefty fine 9 - strip titles 10- strip titles & hefty fine 11 - strip titles 12- strip titles & hefty fine 13 - strip titles 14- strip titles & hefty fine 15 - strip titles 16- strip titles & hefty fine 17 - strip titles 18- strip titles & hefty fine I may have para-phrased one or two in the list....
  23. I would love to hear a real explanation as to why the 12-12-18 option was the only one viable & all other suggestions were thrown out/ignored. I would hazard a guess that this was the most profitable for the current SPL teams...
  24. I don't know if McCoist is..."The Man" or not. What I do know is that something ain't working as well as it should. - is it McCoist's management of the team?? - Is it to do with Team spirit?? - is it to do with the overall quality of players?? - is it to do with training methods?? - is it to do with the club work ethic?? It may be one of these things, it may be all or maybe none. I don't know the answer. I do agree with others that a philosophy needs to be created with regard to a style of play and an overall work ethic. This should filter down through the different age groups with the view that any youngster coming into the team is familiar with various tactics and general style of play. I have seen several TV documentary's about various military training regimes etc. During their training, these new recruits are pushed to their absolute breaking point, and in some cases beyond it. The training is physically & mentally challenging. The outcome of this is a group of new soldiers who can rely 100% on the man beside them when things get tough. In many ways these strangers are "re-born" as a solid unit who know that the only way to succeed is by working with & for the rest of the team. I'm not saying that the coaches @ RFC need to quite go that far, but do these players REALLY understand the meaning of team work??? How many of the current squad stay behind after training to work on different aspects of their game??? How many could honestly say that they have EARNED every penny of the handsome wage packet??? A lot of questions....I don't know how many answers there are....
  25. Always thought that was the biggest problem with Vlad Wiess....bags of skill/talent/trickery, but sometimes didn't know when to release the ball.....
