  1. Something struck me last night.... The new SPFL will operate under the current SPL company number - we were told this was because of commercial contract held by the SPL & financial was the best way forward. Yet reports in the DR today are claiming that Irn-Bru is looking to extend its sponsorship to the new SPFL....that is the same Irn-bru that currently sponsors the SFL. Where exactly is the benefit of maintaining the SPL company when they don't have a major sponsor & appear financially worse off than the SLF - remember at the start of last season, the SPL was unable to pay clubs their dues on time & in full, they had to make part payments.
  2. Henry McClelland of Annan should be banned from Scottish football for life.....comments like his recently have no place in the current Scottish game!!! That man is talking far too much sense - it'll never do. The teams in the 2nd & 3rd div are the one who are ultimately going to loose out. This was also shown with the SPL's 12-12-18 format. The SPL had stated that an 18-team format wouldn't work, yet wanted to lump the bottom end team into an 18-team league. Those at the top of the heap simply don't care about lower league football.
  3. Think I heard a soundbite from Dumbcaster saying that they had enforced a registration ban on Hearts for failing to pay the HMRC bill in full. Not only do they have to sell their 1st team...they can't register ANYONE new....
  4. They can only go Newco if there is someone to buy them.....
  5. don't think we could....we wouldn't hold the registration for the player.
  6. If this was a proper merger, then yes the future could be beneficial to all, however, in reality it's nothing more than a takeover & re-branding by the SPL - the SPFL will be trading under the SPL company number while the 130(ish) year old institution that is the SFL is thrown by the wayside. The SPL will very much be the ones in control of the ENTIRE SCOTTISH GAME!!!! As such, the lower leagues can expect to shafted at every opportunity, with the focus being firmly on the top 12 & a selection of others from Div 1. I foresee the Div 1 interest fading after a couple of years & things will be even worse than they are now.
  7. I don't want to see ANY team go bust....but as others have said, I have no sympathy with them. They made their own decisions last year - they've made their bed...now they have to lie in it!!!
  8. We don't have a voice..... However, sitting back while Rome burns may not be a bad place to be. The top tier didn't need us,....they set themselves on a path to possible ruin. What's wrong with us sitting back, waiting to say "Told you so"???
  9. Hearts are certainly claiming that....no cash from Romanov for about 2 years...
  10. I find this very worrying for Hearts.....I'm guessing season tickets have not been on sale all that long, and already they have "dried up". My understanding that this is the main income which see's clubs through the close season. When you add in club wages & the various HMRC payments which will need to be paid....it looks like the Fat Lady is just about finished her warm-up. What happens when they sell all their players?? They get the cash to keep going, but are unable to compete in the league. They then get relegated and therefore their revenue streams are reduced further.....it's a slippery slope which I don't think they will conquer without MASSIVE investment - but who's gonna do that???
  11. but...but...they don't need us!!! The SPL will prosper on & off the pitch without the "toxic, bigotted" Rangers..... I would laugh heartedly if RFC issued a statement, apologising for the lack of financial assistance, but due to their league position this was not possible!!!
  12. We have been "punished" already for any & all previous issues. They may want to pursue the links with Whyte, but again their grounds for it look VERY shaky to me, since an INDEPENDENT inquiry has already stated there is (or has been) no involvement. If an investigation & following punishment is pursued, they better make sure their case is 110% watertight - otherwise it will clearly be a witch hunt. For us next season...it's business as usual in Div2.
  13. I don't see this as a bad day for us....it's a bad day for Scottish Football!!! The SPL will now be in control of the who game - expect a greater number of "irrelevant" clubs to be shafted over the coming seasons. The top teams/league have no interest in the lower league - and neither would we if we were still in the SPL. However, we can look at things differently after last season. We now have an interest in Div3 teams - we have a more personal relationship with them now. I don't think there will be any further repercussions for us - on what grounds could they be applied??? What it may do is give the SPL more power to jump us a league.....
  14. Probably coz every one is under the same umbrella, and also according to the Annan chairman, the board will be a 3-2-1 setup...ie 3 from SPL, 2 from Div1, 1 from Div2 - Div 3 have no direct representation on the board.
  15. It's HIS case against his former employees, who are accused of nicking stuff from Whyte's castle..... He's actually the innocent party in all of this, yet because of his actions, he has the arrest warrant - ye couldnae make it up...
  16. Who's saying that King isn't buying shares???? Just because he ain't shouting about it, doesn't mean it ain't happening.....
  17. I think a good start is imperative & will set the tone for the rest of the season. If we come out the blocks with a bang, the rest of the league will know we mean business & hopefully fear playing us. Last year we struggled a bit, which gave the opposition hope of taking some points.
  18. Eion Jess left The Sheep in 2001 - 12 years ago!!! I don't remember him (or any Aberdeen) tearing us apart!!!! certainly a very optimistic outlook - Aberdeen haven't been a real force in Scottish football for decades - never mind in Europe. They throw up the odd tricky game, but that's it.
  19. I say "let them be judged by what they do, not by what they have done"... I know nothing about them, other than McGill's buses appear to be doing pretty well. They may turn out to be a good thing for the club....maybe not - time will tell.
  20. so...if he's heavier than a duck, we get to burn him???
  21. This is the only official report of him offloading any shares - the rest has been talk, and no percentages have been mentioned....still struggle to see where CGs lying here...
  22. What lies does this involve????
  23. Once the shares are in the open market, the club has absolutely no control of them. Green promised that initially, when the shares went on sale that no-one would have more than 10%....I believe that was correct!!! However, they are now being traded freely, so how do you control what percentage any one person has???
  24. According to reports, Hearts have been threatened with ANOTHER winding up order over unpaid PAYE to the tune of £100k..... Under CW, we were able to run up PAYE/NI debts of over £10m, yet from my knowledge there was never any mention of winding up orders.... Whats the difference??? Is it simply down to differing financial levels - ie RFC had a considerably higher turnover than Hearts & therefore the values are all relative??? Or is it back to more sinister reasons???
  25. based on the fact that people were still blaming the lack of pre-season when we were 3/4 of the way through the season....probably not!!!
