  1. Possibly the best signing of the season - Alves included - as Dorrans is on a 3 year deal and has signed for the club regardless who the manager is. IF and still if Pedro doesn't work out, its signings like Dorrans and Jack who will still be key in the next year or so.
  2. Maybe not. Its maybe like buying your new car say a Ferrari but not liking it due to the fiesta engine under the bonnet.
  3. See your point but cant be compared really. Sir Alex was coming in with a track record of huge success with a small club and he didn't had a disastrous start with Utd. Pedro hasn't really had much success (he did Ok in Mexico) and has come in and stamped 3 horrendous things straight away - The 5-1 OF, losing at home to Aberdeen first time in 26 years and worst result in clubs history. I still think he should be allowed to gel the team and HIS players but I worry about the dressing room right now - is it split with regards to PC??
  4. Its 100% tax rule. Sign a player for 50m then pay 50m in tax. But that wont stop a lot of the clubs there. It just means the transfer fees will come down a bit but the wage structure will stay the same for now. The government have a plan in place to make Chinese football huge and host a world cup and they need big names to raise the game but at the same time they will make money out the transfer fees.
  5. Lacazette is a done deal, that's interesting. According to Gerard Houllier he could be similar to Ian Wright which would be outstanding for Arsenal. Rooney to Everton looks like one which will go over the line. Like John Terry - fair play to Rooney if he goes there for footballing reasons. But still only 31 he could do 1-2 years there and still get a large pay day in the MLS at 33.
  6. We will just have to see how McCann is getting on at Dundee.
  7. The jury is certainly out over Pedro and his early doubters dont look like knee jerkers at the moment. I had concerns after the 5-1 simply becuase he didnt address what we all saw after the cup game the week before. The tricky one is the new signings and money thats been spent. Had maybe 4 or 5 of them not signed yet it would be easier to say lets just part ways now but Id imagine PC had a huge part in getting the Portuguese and Mexicans at Ibrox. His last strand is that he has got Dorrans, Alves, Pena and Herrera to blend in. We probably need to see about getting a Ibrox tournament done at short notice, a few games in successive days would help mix the new guys in. Doesnt have to be big boys, but say Hamburg, Aston Villa and Sampdoria or the likes.
  8. Of course there is no positives about the football but fans in general prefer Saturday football.
  9. Cant believe what Im waking up to. Pedro has got it all to do now. His single mindedness and dictating approach of 10 days off in the summer in order to go through has bitten him and he hasn't changed this Warburton team one ounce. I agree with earlier poster that Murty did more. The problem is we have bought and spent before this disaster happened so any change probably means new signings jump on the first bus out of Ibrox. Like a few others after the 5-1 defeat by Celtic alarm bells were ringing of stubbornness - it wasn't knee jerk reaction because he had the cup game prior to that and had the chance to address things. 4th best team from Luxembourg who had only scored 1 goal in Europe before - serious questions have to be asked. The only positive from all of this is there will be more Saturday fixtures rather than playing on Sundays had we reached group stages.
  10. Mahrez is 50/50 for me. Outstanding in the year they won the league but disappointing last season. But may be a good option on the right side. Off the park it looks like Jens Lehmann will be coming in as a first team coach which is a good move. Yes was a bit mad on the pitch sometimes but a few former players have said he was a total winner in the dressing room and demanded a lot which is exactly what Arsenal need. He is an invincible and will install more winning mentality. I could see him getting off the touchline and shouting at the players straight away.
  11. Agreed, I think Pena could have that in his locker. Kranjcar can do it with a instant pass but it would be good to see someone with a burst of pace who can just do something out of nothing. Over the next few weeks we will see what Pena, Dalcio and Candeias can do. When I first saw Windass I thought he is capable of that little burst in the final 3rd but hasn't stepped up yet.
  12. I think we will start to click upfront eventually when Herrera and Morelos are settled. There is going to be good competition between those two. Waghorn must know he has to start scoring to have a chance of playing. Id like to see a few changes going forward and also Rossiter starting.
  13. Everton sign Michael Keane from Burnley - good coup for Everton beating the bigger boys for that signing. Rodriguez joins WBA from Southampton. He was quality before his injury, Spurs were going to be paying 25m for him. He was the better out of him and Lallana. Not Premier League but John Terry to Villa. Good signing and a good fit all round there. Fair play to Terry dropping down a league and not following the pound signs to USA, China or another Premier team although Im sure he will be on some bonus if they get promoted.
  14. Germany have it sorted. Just wont the U21 tournament with their U20 team and win the confederations cup with their U23 / B team. I think they are head and shoulders out their as favourites for Russia in 12 months time.
  15. Have to give PC credit, I agree with you - I think we were well short in defence last season. But Bates and Beerman have been good additions to the senior squad. I thought Hill deserved another year but with Alves and Cardoso its probably been justified. Wilson will be knocking on the door. Numbers wise I think we are OK and until we assess the new signings I cant work out where we need to add. A right sided attacker maybe. A lot will depend on who departs. I hope we start to get the unwanted out the door sooner though.
  16. Shocking. Im kind of the same with cars. Only bought a dark green car once but returned it the next day.
  17. Not sure any Rangers player would wear green boots anyway.
  18. Thats easy done though, The train from AMS city goes to Rotterdam and you only get a minute to get off at schiphol. Obviously fully tanked with booze you could end up in Belgium though!
  19. Been close to that aswell. One of the trips was 6 hours in schiphol and after a bottle of champers and a few nips I tried to negotiate with the bloke next to me a flight ticket swap - who was going to Cameroon. Lesson - dont drink and fly kids!!
  20. Decent fixture tonight, where it becomes a bit competitive. Its a full strength Chile side against a pretty much U23 German team. I fancy Chile to win on pens.
  21. But I think it would, it automatically brings in a cloud and people will ask questions - new players will be curious. The fans certainly will have a split on him and that goes right through to the dressing room. His boat has sailed for me. He WAS a decent player but I dont think would give us much more than 1 season. He isnt a model pro like Miller IMO.
  22. I think if they bust the bank for Mbappe, Lacazette and Tural then get Ox-Chamberlain a new deal then they could let a lot go. Freshen the squad up a bit. Keeper and defence is sorted. If Welbeck, Cazorla and Xhaka all stay fit then they could have some team. Im a fan of Xhaka, I think he is just adapting now and after a full summers rest will be a key player next season. Sanchez doesnt look like he wants to be there so Id let him go for a massive fee. He has peaked at Arsenal anyway. With the amount of football he plays he could easily go off like Rooney did when he turns 30. He has had summer competitions every year - Copa Americas and World cups and now the confederations cup.
  23. Have you never called someone who made a road error in their car a donkey? Or someone who fell off a chute a donkey?
  24. He would be a bad apple because of the past. He cant even get a start for Scotland at the moment - that says it all. We have to agree to disagree on this one Craig.
  25. I reckon they would. 25 million each?? In the current market. West Ham are linked with Walcott for around that. On their day they are two outstanding players but their Arsenal days have probably dried up and they need a new start.
