Shame for Peterhead, they did the hard work but wont go through as a best runner up, one of the Dundee teams would need to get thumped for that. Its one of the worst rules in football the best runner up rule. Cathro has his work cut out for this season.

Premier League!! They are about 4th or 5th favorites this season. Villa and Boro are the two the bookies fancy but I think Sheff Wed have a big chance. Derby for me will be up there.

Billy Bowie urges Scottish football to end hostilities over Rangers' EBTs

Dont think Ross County, Hamilton and Partick were in either. I know there is no hard feelings towards Ross County. Dont think the other two would have been so kind towards us. -
In that case Id take Miller out. There is nothing we need to learn about Miller we already know and perhaps should be saved for competitive games. But Kranjcar relies on being match fit and needs at least 45 mins. Holt, Windass, Dalcio and Dodoo should all get a run out later in the game in midfield also. Dodoo may be in the shop window but if not he could end up being key on the left as the season goes on. He remains a strange one as looks good when plays but then disappears.

On the ticket thread I put Id like to see a similar team but Beerman start at LB and Kranjcar in Pena's place there. Kranjcar surely is a first name on the team sheet. Id also like to see Morelos and Herrera partnership start up top but know those are all unlikely.

Can someone remind me, was it Kilmarnock the only club who voted against us being punted out the leagues in 2012? IIRC it was a 10-1 vote. -
Didnt realise Cathro was only 31. They have to win today to make sure they are in the last 16 of the cup. A few Premier clubs have some work to do to get through. Seems Hertz have went backwards a bit in the last 12 months.

Would be refreshing to see Morelos and/or Herrera have a good performance today and get on the scoresheet. We need to get the strikers up and running and converting chances. Should be a good day out for the Bears that are attending. Always had soft spot for Wednesday they are easily in the top 12 biggest clubs in England. Team Id like to see start today. Foderingham Tavernier Alves Cardoso Beerman Jack Candeias Dorrans Kranjcar Morelos Herrera It ideal down the left side and will rely on Beerman getting down the wing. Id bring Pena on for one of the front two and have a 5 in midfield at some stage.

The Pre-Summer-2017 transfer rumours and hearsay all inclusive Thread

Wouldnt grudge Miller playing first team football IF he was to leave. I think he will get game time if he stays though. Its more strange that the clubs would do business together as much as Miller talking to Hibs. But business and footballing decisions will rise above their thugs after the Cup Final. Im guess Miller was a Hibs fan as a kid so you could see it from that point. Miller is and always has been a professional regardless who he plays / played for. As stated he has been a great servant to Rangers. -

Pandev would be a coup. He isnt prolific, he averages 1 in 4. But a strong player and a Champions league winner would bring more winning experience to the squad. He may be 34 (just turned) but thats what 3 or 4 years younger than Miller who can still perform. -

Kranjcar would be ahead of Pena as it stands though. Pena needs to burst on and show what he can do. Kranjcar is pulling in MOTM performances every game and couldnt be dropped. There is an argument for them both then just one striker. -

Only Alves and Kranjcar would be shockers going out. Foderingham, Wallace and Miller may raise an eyebrow with some but I wouldnt be surprised at all depending on the reason. -
If it was 1-1 then they would very much up against it but they have the advantage if they score. How sweet would it be if they fell at this hurdle.

If Pedro doesn't work out and is gone after 6 games of the season due to a poor start the new manager is going to need players who didn't come simply for PC - that's where the Dorrans and Jack signings are good plus probably Alves is experienced enough to accept footballing decisions. That's the only avenue I can go down for Naismith being a Rangers player again however I don't want to see him signing. If it happens it happens and I wont drop to being a Boo-boy but Id hardly be getting his name on the back of my shirt.

Daniel Levy says the current spending is unsustainable and I agree. There could be some car crashes ahead. The worlds economy is not in a good shape yet clubs are just throwing multi millions around. 160m for Mbappe is crazy, Arsenal could have got him for 500k a year ago.
-
Yes Id be up for this. Suggest we need a minimum of 6 posters to get a Gersnet League created.

Javier Hernandez completes move to West Ham for 16m. At last a good transfer fee. Considering the money being splashed around 16m is a snip. Im happy with West Hams business this summer. They are buying quality rather than quantity. Last year the signings were awful and a few of them still need to move out. But Hart, Zabaletta, Arnautavic and Hernandez are all experienced and first teamers. Just need a centre midfielder (Wilshire would do) and the squad is looking good.
-
Older players calling PC a fraud while the new ones don't - that might cause a split.
-
Watford have signed two of Englands best young midfielders in Chalobah from Chelsea and Hughes from Derby. And now they have Marco Silva in charge they could be a bit more attractive on the eye. But with two Portuguese managers at the helm I suspect this is purely a run out for extra fitness for both squads. So this is the sort of bounce game I wont care much about unless we were thrashed.
-
I think Batshuayi may be key to Chelsea this season, he started to score at the end of last season and may come good after a 1 season settling in. He played well against Arsenal on Saturday in the friendly. Morata doesn't seem like the Chelsea type of striker in the way Drogba and Costa are. Agree about Lukaku, over priced for that fee. Not sure if he will be able to raise his game to challenge for a title or in the CL. Rashford must be wondering what he has to do.
-
I agree with that - and with some bears I don't think there is hatred towards Naismith. I think its we just don't want to see him being allowed to pull the Gers shirt on again as he doesn't deserve to.

Not sure about Mclean. But if Hearts don't accept 600k for Walker we can just sign him on a pre contract in 6 months time. Just make sure the player knows we want him and he gets a free move and bigger signing on fee himself rather than pay Hearts. -
Thats a fine result, just when I was expected to read about a bit of a cuffing we manage a 1-1 and going by the posts it seems a decent performance. At least we managed to hit the net albeit not from open play which has to be what we need to work on and I think that will come with more gelling and match time plus a little shuffling around in personnel. Watford friendly in midweek before Sheff Wed - which should really become an annual fixture.

Alves is obviously a winner and goes into the squad with high stature. He just looks like a leader. I just hope there is harmony in the dressing room and this talk of split camps gets sorted out.

About the Foderingham one, I would just worry about Alnwick's lact of first team football if he was promoted to number 1 straight away. Who else could we bring in? I saw someone posing McGregor but he has lost his form. In saying that so had Gordon prior to training with McCoists team so McGregor may be a possible option. Keepers are massively important and we have been blessed with some cracking keepers over the years, we need a solid long term number 1 again.
