  1. I think Rousseau posted a good article about how the tough tackling centre midfielder has gone - yet the Scottish game could be different, the standard is still rough and tumble most of the time. Whilst I dont see Kranjcar as the midfield general I do see him more as a playmaker going forward and having a Stuart McCall in the side would get the best out of him.
  2. I think Wilson would be good next to Alves, he has done well in the past when with someone experienced. But old school 2 centre half rocks would be good.
  3. So back to this thread with a lot of talks over the last days. Obviously this isnt the finished article but until we get signings near over the line we cant put them in. Foderingham Tavernier Alves Wilson Wallace Rossister Windass Jack Kranjcaer Dodoo Miller Of course 3 more names in Alves mould added to that XI in place of some players is what we want or if Pedro unearths a couple of unknown gems from Mexico or Portugal. Beerman may take over Wallace long term in that side. Im not so sure Jack will be a starter as I dont know enough about him. Windass is a bit of a hollywood player who has a touch of talent bursting forward but needs to add a lot more to his all round game. Although Ive put Dodoo in he just cant seem to get a run of games for anything yet always impresses coming off the bench. McKay is another talent but continues to raise doubts with some due to inconsistency yet I would like to see him kick on and stay. Holt will be a good squad player but Halliday can probably move on. Upfront Miller will be a key squad player next season. I was a Waghorn fan but convinced now he should leave along with Garner. Waghorn just hasnt taken enough of his chances over the season. Others - Forrester has seem to just disappear and O Hallaran is clearly not wanted by Pedro. Obviously Toral and Hyndman are away back to their clubs with Hill and Senderos let go. Bates will be a squad player and Kiernan may leave also. Matt Crooks is the final name - no idea what will happen with him. But a lot of surgery needed overall but with time restraints it may take more than one window. Balancing time to get players in with those out is risky for Euro deadlines and also costly if we cant offload players after signings so the chances are a few players who we thought would leave may still be on the books next season.

    Alves coming

Agree with JFK there. The end of season feel to this game with the possibility of players knowing they wont be at Ibrox next season meant a no show. Had there been something to play for I wouldnt have expected a defeat. They had to win again at Ibrox sometime and it is against a poor Gers team that wont be playing together in a few weeks then so be it. We went to pittodrie and thumped them and in the first half were far the better side and possibly the best Ive seen us play this season in that 45 minutes.
  5. Fitness will be Kranjcar's issue, he took about 8 games to get match fit this season and being out so long may take him the same again but its good news he is trying and taking a personal trainer on holiday. At 32 (going 33) we should get 2 good seasons out of him.
  6. Rodgers got lucky with Suarez and Sturridge that season with Suarez being a Dalglish signing and a world class players. Sturridge staying fit for once, but they were on a bit of a Leicester type run. Rodgers also seemed to benefit from what Martinez and Sousa did at Swansea. For Celtic even Moyes would have been an improvement to Delia.
  7. If the Jack deal is done then at least we are identifying weak areas of the park. Despite having high in numbers this season the quality just hasnt performed and if Kranjcar and Rossiter can get fit then straight away the quality will be better. People seem to Barjonas will be another boost next season. I still worry about numbers in defence but having Bates and Beerman come through helped.
  8. Swansea players had a few days in Ibiza celebrating staying up so WBA may beat them today. I read each PL spot if worth 1.9m and not 1m. Some teams have a chance of moving up a few places or down a few, in leicesters case they can finish either as high as 8th or low as 15th which is a swing of 13.3m. West brom lose could cost them 7.6m by dropping to 12th which is huge for a mid table club.
  9. I think people are entitled to give a calculated judgement at any time. Seeing that he didnt learn lessons in one week against Celtic twice has to be alarming. Put that down to stubborness or the players not showing up but it just wasnt good enough. Of course he will deserve the summer to try get his own team in but i dont see too many confident posts that he will turn it around. The worst thing we want is to be sitting here in 6 months with another few million blown and a worse team.

    Naismith?

It wouldnt be so bad if he had come out to say he was wrong with 'that' statement but he hasnt even had the decency to do that because he is hot headed and to proud and 50 a week down south was obviously the main thing on this mind.
  11. I think it will be Inverness, can see Hamilton winning their home match v Dundee.
  12. If Boro pulled that off it would be great. Arsenal just have to go out and win their game and hope Liverpool have one more slip up. WBA must be kicking themselves, they could drop into the bottom half yet have been 8th for most of the season. Places are a million quid per spot and that covers a lot of WBA wage bill.
  13. Dundee FC should buy them out - how ironic wold that be.

    Naismith?

This is running arms and legs - yet is there any actual link that he is being considered? Reece Oxford is being let go out on loan again for next season by West Ham, Im pretty sure Warburton tried to get him in January. He would be a scoop if we could get him for a season. He would slot nicely next to Alves or could play the holding midfielder role. Our loans have been good over the last 2 seasons - Ball and Hyndman have done well in the midfield.
  15. I'll certainly be hoping Ajax win the Europa. Its an appealing match. The ticket allocation is a bit poor though, 9000 to each club for fans and 32000 for general sale, clubs, officials and sponsors.
  16. Harry Kane hitting 4 goals to take a late lead in the golden boot race. He was on 22 with Sanchez on 23 and Lukaku on 24. The Arsenal v Everton game was billed as the race for the golden boot and Id have fancied Sanchez to get a couple but Kane has just blown it away. Whats his chances of catching Shearer? Thats him on 75 and is only 23. He needs to repeat 25 plus for the next few seasons to have a chance. Shearers tally is phenomenal. Final day predictions Arsenal 1-0 Everton Burnley 1-1 West Ham Chelsea 3-0 Sunderland Hull 0-2 Tottenham Leicester 2-1 Bournemouth Liverpool 4-0 Middlesbrough Man Utd 0-0 Crystal Palace Southampton 1-0 Stoke Swansea 1-1 West Brom Watford 0-2 Man City
  17. I cant see them beating Falkirk tonight so its another year in the championship for them.
  18. Fair comment on paper as its true. But they were flirting with relegation 2 years ago.
  19. Surprising. He seems to be doing a good job and improving every season.

    Naismith?

Garner and Naismith up front, I couldnt think of a worse partnership. Id rather see Dodoo given a chance and partnering a new signing.
  21. Do you go to games with Granite City RCS? Used to go to some games with them but used Newmachar more. But took the train mostly. I did try to start a Davie Robertson Harlaw RSC but only had a handful of regulars.
  22. Agree - side on view for a ST. I used to sit in the club deck and loved it, if you get near to the half way line up there then its a great view to watch - the stairs are a bit if a hike mind! Congrats on becoming a batchelor haha.
  23. St Johnstone 1-1 Rangers FGS Miller.

    Naismith?

There has to be far more options out there. He will only start to decline as a player anyway being past 30.
  25. Not the final I hoped for but hope Huddersfield go up. Reading are just boring although Jaap Stam is looking like he could be an awesome manager. At least there will be Sheffield Derbies next season. I will stick my next out now and say Derby and Sheff Wed to go up automatically next season so long as Sheff Wed keep the manager and players. Villa may put up a fight if Steve Bruce gets his players.
