I back Arsenal every year bar last season but I will be having a flutter on them again this season. I see Chelsea going backwards. Conte may not even be there. Yet linked with 80 defenders and havent signed one. Man Utd - Mourinho usually wins titles in his second season but He isnt the same manager anymore. I dont see a Giggs, Scholes or keane in that UTD squad. City - Peps arrogance will let him down again. Too many forward players and still a shabby defence. Spurs - Wembley! Liverpool - If they get a keeper and a top defender then Id watch out for them. Klopp is awesome but they are Liverpool and arent allowed to win the PL. Arsenal - Wengers swagger was back at the FA cup final - if we see this next season with Lehmann kicking asses in the dressing room then stupid losses like Watford at home wont happen and they will be stronger on the road. Wenger signed a deal when fans wanted him out - he has to deliver.

No quality, no bottle, no Progrès - Should the manager be sacked?
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Not sure what you mean. However - to take Craig using Sir Alex as a knee jerk opinion on another thread - I just read the premier league starts on a Friday for the first time this season, I thought thats not right because I recall watching the first game of the season years ago on a Friday night - however that turned out to be the second game of the season Chelsea 2-2 Man Utd. So the point is Sir Alex fielded a 4-5-1 that night. Carroll P Neville Blanc Shea Silvestre Beckham Keane Butt Giggs Scholes Van Nistelrooy Ok we dont have that level of quality. But does someone want to explain to me whats wrong with this system and why we have to fumble about? Put players in natural positions - end of. -
For me that just describes the poor pathetic British media today all over and on EVERY topic (too many turn off when its non rangers / football related). It comes from higher up and the reporters are just spewers.

Dalglish would be anonymous in the current Scotland team..... Lost form due to joining a disjointed West Ham team. Frankie - Dont care who he supports. Pretty sure Herrera, Pena, Alves and Dalcio dont support Rangers either. He obviously has good things to say about Dorrans and wouldnt comment if he didnt genuinely wish him well.
-
^ Snodgrass on loan would be a clever move by PC. He is available. West Ham are ready to part already. He fitted there at the worst possibly time trying to blend into a new team and system.

Current situation makes you think what happens with Dodoo. Utter bizarre Rangers career thus far. Two worldly strikes to win a match at Partick Thistle. Comes on at Pittodrie and changes a game to scoop a 3-0 win. Yet done very little since. Never fancied by MW or PC as a starter. I still dont know if he is a striker or a inside left / winger (aka like a Welbeck). No mentions of him if he is staying or part of the plans (not training with the U20s or starting games)

Kilmarnock to complete deal for Kirk Broadfoot
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Without checking I think you may be referring about his Coventry spell where he got POTY?? I will check. ..... -
"Trouble is he doesnt have any matches" - Is this a Ferguson quote or did the Record add this in? You could argue if its Fergusons article without the above quote then we have a debate and he could have a point - yes he gets a month in the season to see how he performs. If its a Ferguson quote then its a dig at saying you are out of Europe.

Boyd and Ferguson are getting a lot of media time (Sky and Record respectively). Pity they need a keyboard and an editor to get their messages across.

Kilmarnock to complete deal for Kirk Broadfoot

I think that was the thread I was mentioning. Lewis MacLeod is another yet injuries have hampered him. I just googled John Fleck to see where he was, didnt realise he was with Sheff Utd just got promoted to the championship. 10 apps last season in league one. -
Kilmarnock to complete deal for Kirk Broadfoot

Another former player who hasnt succeeded down south - relegation with Rotherham. The other day I mentioned Ness, Wylde and others who disappear when going to England. Then they return north to Kilmarnocks and Motherwells etc. -
But could get 100m from Chelsea. Not sure where this twist has come from. Mourinho supposedly wanted Lukaku as his no.1 target but switched to Morata. But now the Morata deal hasnt went through they make the Lukaku offer official. Pretty sure Everton will want more than 75m. The Rooney deal could be part of it, Man Utd may be willing to pay part of Rooneys wages for the season if the Lukaku fee is lower or the full wage. Man Utd were going to pay up Rooney's contract but could offer him on loan to Everton for the season at no cost.

Possibly the best signing of the season - Alves included - as Dorrans is on a 3 year deal and has signed for the club regardless who the manager is. IF and still if Pedro doesn't work out, its signings like Dorrans and Jack who will still be key in the next year or so.

Maybe not. Its maybe like buying your new car say a Ferrari but not liking it due to the fiesta engine under the bonnet.

No quality, no bottle, no Progrès - Should the manager be sacked?
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
See your point but cant be compared really. Sir Alex was coming in with a track record of huge success with a small club and he didn't had a disastrous start with Utd. Pedro hasn't really had much success (he did Ok in Mexico) and has come in and stamped 3 horrendous things straight away - The 5-1 OF, losing at home to Aberdeen first time in 26 years and worst result in clubs history. I still think he should be allowed to gel the team and HIS players but I worry about the dressing room right now - is it split with regards to PC?? -
Its 100% tax rule. Sign a player for 50m then pay 50m in tax. But that wont stop a lot of the clubs there. It just means the transfer fees will come down a bit but the wage structure will stay the same for now. The government have a plan in place to make Chinese football huge and host a world cup and they need big names to raise the game but at the same time they will make money out the transfer fees.

Lacazette is a done deal, that's interesting. According to Gerard Houllier he could be similar to Ian Wright which would be outstanding for Arsenal. Rooney to Everton looks like one which will go over the line. Like John Terry - fair play to Rooney if he goes there for footballing reasons. But still only 31 he could do 1-2 years there and still get a large pay day in the MLS at 33.

We will just have to see how McCann is getting on at Dundee. -

The jury is certainly out over Pedro and his early doubters dont look like knee jerkers at the moment. I had concerns after the 5-1 simply becuase he didnt address what we all saw after the cup game the week before. The tricky one is the new signings and money thats been spent. Had maybe 4 or 5 of them not signed yet it would be easier to say lets just part ways now but Id imagine PC had a huge part in getting the Portuguese and Mexicans at Ibrox. His last strand is that he has got Dorrans, Alves, Pena and Herrera to blend in. We probably need to see about getting a Ibrox tournament done at short notice, a few games in successive days would help mix the new guys in. Doesnt have to be big boys, but say Hamburg, Aston Villa and Sampdoria or the likes. -
Of course there is no positives about the football but fans in general prefer Saturday football.
-
Cant believe what Im waking up to. Pedro has got it all to do now. His single mindedness and dictating approach of 10 days off in the summer in order to go through has bitten him and he hasn't changed this Warburton team one ounce. I agree with earlier poster that Murty did more. The problem is we have bought and spent before this disaster happened so any change probably means new signings jump on the first bus out of Ibrox. Like a few others after the 5-1 defeat by Celtic alarm bells were ringing of stubbornness - it wasn't knee jerk reaction because he had the cup game prior to that and had the chance to address things. 4th best team from Luxembourg who had only scored 1 goal in Europe before - serious questions have to be asked. The only positive from all of this is there will be more Saturday fixtures rather than playing on Sundays had we reached group stages.

Mahrez is 50/50 for me. Outstanding in the year they won the league but disappointing last season. But may be a good option on the right side. Off the park it looks like Jens Lehmann will be coming in as a first team coach which is a good move. Yes was a bit mad on the pitch sometimes but a few former players have said he was a total winner in the dressing room and demanded a lot which is exactly what Arsenal need. He is an invincible and will install more winning mentality. I could see him getting off the touchline and shouting at the players straight away.
-
Agreed, I think Pena could have that in his locker. Kranjcar can do it with a instant pass but it would be good to see someone with a burst of pace who can just do something out of nothing. Over the next few weeks we will see what Pena, Dalcio and Candeias can do. When I first saw Windass I thought he is capable of that little burst in the final 3rd but hasn't stepped up yet.
-
I think we will start to click upfront eventually when Herrera and Morelos are settled. There is going to be good competition between those two. Waghorn must know he has to start scoring to have a chance of playing. Id like to see a few changes going forward and also Rossiter starting.

Everton sign Michael Keane from Burnley - good coup for Everton beating the bigger boys for that signing. Rodriguez joins WBA from Southampton. He was quality before his injury, Spurs were going to be paying 25m for him. He was the better out of him and Lallana. Not Premier League but John Terry to Villa. Good signing and a good fit all round there. Fair play to Terry dropping down a league and not following the pound signs to USA, China or another Premier team although Im sure he will be on some bonus if they get promoted.
