Docherty on. Christ, he should have started along with Goss. Its easy maths.
-
Goal difference taking a hiding here, that was an extra point in the fight for second. Its now bordering unsafe if we lose at Aberdeen and Hibs.
-
No other team in the league get a whipping like this, its embarrassing and its due to behind the scenes nonsense. Beaten in the mind before kick off.
-
This is appalling. Not even teams like Hamilton or Partick gift them and get walked through like that. Massive internal issues and I hope that is relayed to the incoming manager.
-
Alnwick looks a decent shot stopper but there has been a lot of chopping and changing in the back 5 they wont get a good understanding. Thats something that needs massively addressed in the summer - a settled defence and if 1 or 2 go in and out with injury etc then the understanding still has to be there. I never thought Id say we need a Barry Ferguson mentality but thats exactly what the midfield is screaming out for today.

To be fair, two good early saves from him. But with the McGregor rumours I cant help hope they are true and see a top quality keeper again in a short few months. Im wondering about Halliday though. He was shipped out to Azerbaijan not so long ago, that says a lot yet all of a sudden a starter in 2 OF games in a row. Personally Id have dragged Wallace in and made him play for his wages today.

I was starting to think Walter for a year would be best option to steady things - it may still be that way if 'Ger'rard doesnt take it. However on Gerrard, he seems to have this inner drive, scary inner drive to succeed and he is an absolute winner. I dont see it as a risk in the same boat as Pedro or Warburton. Gerrard has been there and seen it and had pressure - he is British and from a passionate city similar to Glasgow and will know far more of the expectations than the previous 2. He demands high levels. The comparing with Souness taking over in the 80s cant be looked at - Souness took over a side who had the potential to be amongst the big boys in Europe, however i can see the compare in the two individuals - both absolute winners. However Souness was a Rangers fan, Gerrard isnt, bar that they do have similarities. I dont remember Souness much as a player but would have Gerrard in my all time Premier League XI anyway. If he takes it then its big yes for me. One thing thats went under the radar is the Gary Mac inclusion. I think thats huge. Ive said for years he would be a cracking assistant for us (said the same about the late great Ray Wilkins) and Gary Mac brings the 'know whats its like to be a Ranger' factor. I am 50/50 as to if this will happen, he may just feel its not the time. But Id be happy with it.

Why would you want that in the first place? Bizarre. Almost minded like they are.
-
And we have to retain this next season. No point taking a few steps forward only for the floor to be wiped. The view on Murty would be another interesting thread. Seems to be doing certain things right. but crikey would I like to see Warnock come in for a year.
-
I think Man City could batter Arsenal today by 3 or 4. A lot saying Arsenals recent record at Wembley could see them through but I think Man City will turn it on big time today. Obviously hoping Arsenal win but they are patching a team together. Losing Giroud, Walcott and Ox has left Arsenal short in depth and they havent replaced them. In the bigger game of the day it would be good to see Conte rock up and win at Old Trafford.
-
Not sure about your maths there ......if the difference is 6 and they lose today, it would be 7 we need to make up. And we still have to play them twice.
-
What 9 points? Its 6. OK they go to Pittodrie today but its 6 at the moment and Aberdeen are due to beat them sometime.
-
Another great race for plays offs. If cardiff win today they could even catch Wolves. Cant speak highly of Warnock enough. I used to cringe at this guy when he was at Sheff Utd but over the years Ive began to like him, now I love him. I think Murty is doing well but Id love Warnock in charge at Ibrox for one year. He just knows how to win and drive a team. Sunderland and Birmingham looking very edgy, two big clubs going down.

Hi Chaps, not seen much of The Rangers in recent weeks for few reasons but seems there is numerous good signs from reports on here. Is it realistic to actually think we are in a title race. Im still regretting a few silly results in 2017 (of course we cant win every game but there was a few poor ones), had they went the right way then its unreal to think we would be around level. Sounds like the removal of Pedro is paying off along with foreign players like Pena who just werent right signings at this stage. My only concern would be the doubt around the managers contract and some players being on loan, if this squad was settled and all contracted id say we are ready to mount a serious challenge next season - I just hope we dont see this group broken up in summer. You guys will know more than me but if we get a favour from Aberdeen today - can we still really have a go this season??

I hope Barca win the CL, they have been the best side in an era and deserve to lift their tally to 6 European Cups. Its unreal that prior to their 2006 win against Arsenal they had only lifted it once before (92) for such a Euro giant. Messi goes into the top 5 of all time, no doubt. Id still like to see how he would do at say a Sevilla or Valencia and have the same impact. Maradona went to Napoli who were like an equivalent of Valencia in SerieA and took them to 2 titles. Plus Maradona won a world cup when it was the pivotal tournament (CL has possibly overtaken WC in some terms), and Maradona was kicked all over the park and played on rougher pitches. But Messi' goal haul is more impressive.
-
The Thursday cup is slightly improving, possibly because the winners getting a CL spot although I dont agree with CL teams dropping into it. I think Arsenal will get past Milan, two giants who are well off par domestically. Atletico Madrid are the outstanding team though, Id expect them win it with Dortmund being their closet opponent.

I was happy we got Dorrans but Davis would be an upgrade on that. So its a yes for me straight away, quality Premier League player who improved himself. The chopping and changing of personnel is what concerns me, seems we have a revolving door at the moment - partly down to Pedro and a bit of Warburton - but personnel seems to be changing too regularly and settled signings is what we need.
-
Ever the optimist and I agree but chances are fading. I can accept the odd bizarre defeat here and there but we have had too much this season to suggest we wont have anymore. Even if was only a 6 point gap id be more realistic but 9 points plus goal difference means games will run out but its frustrating to think about it. At the moment we are relying on them having another slip up soon which they dont tend to do. Knowing Aberdeen they would rather take a cuffing from Celtic to allow us a chance of catching them. But we are relying on Aberdeen finally beating them and if we close the gap to 6 then i would say its game on. But lets take care of Hearts on Saturday first and see from there.

You just get the feeling he would move onto another club and would be injury free and a player. Its the curse again.
-
Was impressive. But Porto arent as good as they was. So far the 3 english clubs are in the better positions, City have done their job. Spurs have to be favourites as Juve have to score but that is still in the balance. Man Utd and Chelsea both have tough ones. Barca favourites for Chelsea but Sevilla will be a tough game for Man Utd.
-
I like Big Eck but this is desperate. He cant get a job at club level anywhere. He must have a good guardian angel. There was comments about Walter walking away from the job for Rangers yet McLeish jumped ship to Birmingham, he only managed 10 games.
-
Need to bring back the prediction and chat thread on its own rather than individual games. North London Derby at Wembley could be a corker on Saturday. I thought Arsenal looked a lot more balanced and less disjointed last week. Iwobi had his best game (he was overdue one) and its probably playing in a natural position with good players around him. Wenger has a problem choosing between Wilshire and Ramsay though (cant see him playing both as Xhaka seems to be a cert starter). Wilshire has been Arsenals best player in the last 10 weeks but Ramsay just scored a hat trick. Id choose Wilshire all day long as a player but Ramsay may be a better fit next to Ozil and Mkhitaryan. Spurs are very impressive from one to eleven and have a strong bench. Talk about De bruyne, Salah and Hazard as the players who are flying but Eriksson has been superb this season. Tottenham 2-2 Arsenal Everton 1-0 Crystal Palace Stoke 1-0 Brighton Swansea 1-1 Burnley West Ham 1-2 Watford Man City 2-0 Leicester Huddersfield 1-0 Bournemouth Newcastle 0-2 Man Utd Southampton 1-3 Liverpool Chelsea 3-0 West Brom

He has surprised me considering he didn't excite too much having seen him for Scotland but has been refreshing.
-
I would say certainly more stable and Id say that since Murty has come in and brought more British players. But improvement is two fold. Point tally and performances. Point tally speaks for itself and barring a few silly results it would be even better. Performance wise I think will get better if we retain the majority of the current squad but get the loanees on permanent deals and gain more momentum. Murty is very admirable but I cant help thinking there is a much better choice out there who could do well in the next 12 months with this group of players.
