Im really hoping the McInnes ship has sailed, we need to aim higher than that. There has to be a bigger market out there. Sean Dyche is available BTW.

You have hit a lot of nails on the head there. Weir isnt coming near the SPL. Agree about McCann, very honest likeable guy and a cracking player but not the answer. Some middle parts of your post have now made me sway towards around 70/30 against Clement, there is nothing in almost 12 months now (Since Dingwall and Dens defeats) that gives me confidence that he can get near a league title - in fact Im more in the camp that it will regress further. I havent read David Holmes book but it would be very interesting to read what he did to turn things around and what his vision was - it couldnt have been rocket science with even less money available in those days per se. Yet he was also up against 3 maybe 4 teams of much better quality (was thinking if Hearts would be included with Aberdeen, Dundee Utd and Celtic in the mid 80s). Perhaps those who witnessed the earlier to mid 80s would have far better insight on this. Im not saying Clement out yet but if we pulled the plug I wouldnt be shouting from the roof tops its the wrong decision. Only a Mass upturn in our away form for "minimum" the rest of the season would get me more on board again...(and I hate chopping and changing managers unless it duds like Beale and Pedro then those do the hiring have to be blamed)

Rescheduled Merseyside Derby tonight. The last ever at Goodison but I dont think Everton have enough firepower to win. Liverpool fans would like nothing more than to rub it in the Toffee's faces winning the last derby at Goodison. Plus the Liverpool players have the chance to go 9 clear at the top and bounce back from the Plymouth loss. That Cup defeat for Liverpool could have actually been Everton's downfall. I'll go for Everton 0-2 Liverpool. These type of things happen, Scotland won the last Auld Enemy Derby at the old Wembley despite losing the tie overall. Then Germany won the last game there. And aside - Bournemouth have just won the last FA Cup tie at Goodison.
-
I'll throw the 98 Cup Final against Hearts as another which was a big downer. After not getting 10IAR winning the cup to give Walter and many of the 9IAR players a send off would have softened the blow but that defeat was horrible.

Dortmund get result of the night, a 3-0 crushing away from home. Juve still have work to do in Eindhoven, I wouldnt bet against PSV turning that around. Was kind of glad to see Real Madrid get the late winners purely because it was Man City but anyone but Bellingham would have been better with the winner though.

Certainly got a shock result AET, a good 2-2 for Exeter but they go out with the lottery of penalties.
-
As far as the "worst" collection if results it is well up there.

Didnt watch that one, it was a midnight K/off for me. But they were playing Chelsea who went hot and cold - pretty much what Brighton have been doing as well. Plus they play each other this weekend again. It would be nice to see the likes of Bournemouth or Brighton win the Cup, Yet Newcastle havent won a trophy for what 60 odd years and they could end up with 2 coming along. I wonder what the odds are for a Newcastle cup double.

Just realised there is a still a game to play tonight, Exeter v Nottingham Forest - thats nuts competing with the Champions League. The FA Cup should be played over the weekend only with maybe a Friday / Monday night match. Yet the draw was made already. Bournemouth v Wolves Aston Villa v Cardiff Crystal Palace v Millwall (South London Derby) Man City v Plymouth (great reward for the away side) Man Utd v Fulham Newcastle v Brighton Preston v Burnley - Tasty derby. Exeter or Nottingham Forest v Ipswich - I'll add Forest into my previous post about fancying their chances.

First set of Play offs tonight. Brest v PSG (away win) Juventus v PSG (home win) Man City v Real Madrid (score draw) Sporting Lisbon v Borussia Dortmund (score draw) Went a draw with City v Real but if RM strikers fancy it then they could win by a couple but I think City will be right up for this one.

Ditto this two posts, form and fitness should have been the priority. Happy with Hagi and Nsiala coming in but Danilo (who I like) is another who's injury record is bad. With Souttar, Balogan and Sterling all being out of late another defender in Fernandes would have been the sensible option for me. But if the 3 mentioned are fit for the remainder of the journey then it will prove correct.

A good competition this season, its wide open. Bournemouth, Villa and Newcastle must all be fancying their chances. Its all about the Quarter and Semi final draws falling kindly.

It is 100% confirmed Clement is suited to European football but has no idea what to do domestically. Being in the top 8 in the Europa is a good achievement and keeps him in a job. Im struggling to think when our next league title or domestic cup comes from, the away form and Sundays result is sackable but he has kind of got his own squad now although we still need another summer transfer window so changing it now means we start again for the umptieth time in almost a decade. Its a catch 22 - do we change and not have good European football which brings the income or go for a British manager who would win more games domestically?

Sunday was just a low in terms of quality and probably is the worst result since Hamilton in the 80s for me but I was only about 8 years old in that game so didnt really grasp it. I think losing in Luxembourg under Pedro was also bad. But like Cammy and Dado were saying during the 97-98 season there was a few stinkers which left you seriously down due to the end of an era. The Killie game was mentioned by prior to that we lost a midweek game at Pittodrie and earlier in the season losing the NY game at Celtic Park was depressing.

Tough one for Newcastle, if only they could expand the small stand opposite the camera. St James is definitely one of the best stadiums in the country. Villa Park is another and its good they are going to be able to rebuild the stand behind to goal to bring it up to 53000. Everton v Leicester and Ipswich v Southampton today - 4 of the bottom 5 playing each other. While the other bottom side Wolves have a midlands derby against Villa. We will see how Forest respond to their hammering at Bournemouth but Brighton are a bag of revels to predict. Bournemouth have a cracking home record against the big teams but so did Brentford and Liverpool nicked it there so Id expect the same. I think Man City will get something at Arsenal in the big one on Sunday. Jhon Duran has gone to Saudi for 71 Million, fair play to him for the wages but what a footballing waste.

Blackburn up to 5th. Todd Cantwell with the second goal - a player I forgot about as soon as he left the building at Ibrox. Falkirk's lead at the top has been slashed, and Ayr can go top on Saturday afternoon. Must say Id rather Ayr or Falkirk get promoted than Livingston.
