There is names on that list that are far more appealing and would fit the bill for Rangers. The Dutch job is a tricky one as they have the worst group of players in my lifetime so they have a rebuilding job to do unless they have already started that and have good youngsters coming through. But not qualifying for 2 tournaments is unheard of for the Dutch. Your probably right about Koeman, we couldn't afford him and is favourite for Holland but what a coup he would be if we could land a name like that. Van Gaal also. I wouldn't say no to Advacaat coming back for 6 months either. We need a strong character.
-
The other poor line is saying they would only appoint someone who is ready for the job. All that does is make McInnes more determined to do better against us plus remove any regrets he may have.
-
The board has played a blinder - It was all a ploy to get 6 points off them and move second in the league. Now the real search can begin. But seriously no idea where we look now, Id hope for a M Laudrup or F De Boer next season, in the meantime let Murty continue. But Big Eck until the end of the season wouldn't be the worst appointment for a reaction because the board do need to let this fizzle out before appointing choice no.2 or no.3. Obviously Eck long term doesn't suit but coming in to settle things for 5 months wouldn't be too bad. Der Berliner - you really are shouting for Potter in Sweden, that's a no go and would be like taking the Gretna manager 10 years ago. Not getting McInnee - agreed with comments we have dodged a bullet, a good run of the mill SPL manager but not good enough for Rangers.
-
Saying no outstanding candidate is the worrying thing, if we end up going for a choice who was below McInnes in the pecking order they aren't exactly going to feel wanted. Also makes Murty feel he isn't considered or rated much in a way.

Aberdeen Statement - McInnes to stay at Aberdeen
Gribz replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
Draw a line under that and move on. He is silly though, he wont get another chance to manage Rangers. I think Ian on here has said numerous times he was never convinced McInnes would be Rangers manager - a minority I think. Good call! Im fine with the decision we will get much better. -
When I said good to see them in that cup its purely because if they werent in it then they would probably be stronger domestically. So long as they dont go on and win it which I cant see as there is some strong teams in it this season. But also means they will be playing Sundays and might mean we will have more Saturday games when the TV changes times.

Aberdeen Statement - McInnes to stay at Aberdeen

The problem with this is we are going down the Everton way of not having a plan B and next choice would know that now. Plan B would need to be a interim manager until end of the season so a new choice could be identified. I would still like F de Boer long term, its probably an appointment to early as we need a bit of solidity right now but the overall set up and style of Rangers is more like Ajax and would suit FdB. The Palace set up was never right for him and a 2-3 year job to transform them to what they wanted. -
Is it a case of playing hard to get and trying to make things long and awkward?

Good to see Celtic in the Thursday night cup, hopefully it has the same jinx to English clubs and derails league form. Just looking at the groups and finishing top in the group no longer has the same advantages. Juventus, Chelsea and Bayern all runners up and very likely Real Madrid will be. PSG got a bit of a beating tonight, they have had things easy so far and that's their first test away from home. Its quite open this year though.

Would kind of explain Euro failures in the 90s aswell. We had the best players in the league domestically and swept up trophies yet could never show up in the CL under WS in the 90s. If he wasnt coaching opposition then it says a lot.
-
Yup he ran down the touchline and went straight to the dressing rooms and the Keith fans in the main stand stood an applauded him. I remember the big conga by the Gers fans in the Richard Donald stand during the match. I think Fraserburgh could have moved this one to Pittordrie its a good pay day for small clubs. Queens Park must be set up for a decade after playing us at home at Hampden getting 30000 a few times.

With Brexit its pre-planned to try derail the exit however our situation is taking way to long and its looking like the Everton situation. Obviously no preference No.1 was made. The thought of Ferguson even being McInnes No.2 or 3 is depressing, will he throw the toys out the pram if he doesnt get to make decisions. May aswell bring Lee McCulloch also. I cant believe there isnt better candidates, there is some very good managers down south that need unearthed. Look at what the Sheff Utd and Bristol City managers have done. We need a strong pressence though.

Still not McInnes for me. Although I'll certainly back him. I liked him as a player, him and Charlie Miller were good squad players in the 90s. But I still cant see why we are not aiming higher. We certainly need someone with European experience IMO. McInnes in the Europa with Aberdeen has been poor. A vital step in our recovery to the top is competing in Europe and that means the Europa group stages first and we need someone who has guided teams through some games before. I do like McInnes, good guy and has done well at Aberdeen in the league but we are a different level. If / when he does get the gig his backroom will be key. I dont even know who his No.2 at Aberdeen is.
-
Maybe they are allowed back to Nandos Have to say I thought we'd get a point only before play today but to beat them twice in 4 days in reminisce of the good days, couldnt happen against a better team. It does say more about McInnes though but I hope Im wrong. That Hamilton and Dundee games are at the back of my mind now, should have been bankers and we'd be on 36 pts. However had Murty won them he'd be touted for the job.

How on earth have Arsenal lost this. Poor defending early on but since then there seemed to be 5 keepers in goal for man utd. Two pens not given. Always said Arsenal are better with 4 at the back, as soon as Mustafi went off they looked a different animal. Pogba a disgrace, almost a career ending stamp - glad he is out the Manc derby. Hope City stuff them.

Former Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha confirmed as new Cruz Azul manager
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
He gets a job before we appoint his replacement!! Good luck to him, enjoyed his talks but quite possibly the most bizarre Ranger of all time. -
1994-96 adidas was the best strip, its got much hint of that but these cycling strips these days dont look as good.

Arsenal 1-3 De Gea

Only problem there is, he was actually meaning stoned on the wacky stuff

What type of Rangers related do you mean? I have always like just seeing the brick colours upon arriving. I wouldnt want to cheapen that, its class from the offset with Rangers FC and the flags flying. I dont agree with the players pictures etc on the outside of the stadium - that would look better internally. Keep the unique class look outside. As for them them in the corner, nah if thats the case we get that crap corner at Parkhead. If anything we should get our away allocation upped a bit as it should go by percentage. Imagine not having 7500 bears at Parkhead when we won the league there in 99?

Doesnt look entirely difficult to predict with no real big clashes in the group stages. Belgium v England and Portugal v Spain but both should go through. Doesnt look right without Italy. Group A: Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Uruguay Group B: Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Iran Group C: France, Australia, Peru, Denmark Group D: Argentina, Iceland, Croatia, Nigeria Group E: Brazil, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Serbia Group F: Germany, Sweden, Mexico, South Korea Group G: Belgium, Panama, Tunisia, England Group H: Poland, Senegal, Colombia, Japan England media already plotting their route through, this is kills them. They shouldnt be looking further than the first game. Groups B, D, E and F throw up some tough calls bar the top seeds. Germany, France and Argentina are the favorites for me. Followed by Brazil - Just because Neymar went for silly money and they qualified well (after 2014 they had to) all of a sudden they are up their. Argentina had horrendous qualifiers but if Messi, Aguero, Di Maria, Dyabla and Higuian (sp) are all fit then they will take some stopping. Outsiders Uruguay and Belgium.

Oddschecker has slashed it to as low as 1/25. Im not so sure for some reason. It will have an impact on the game which means a Pittodrie away day could be enjoyable once again (i had many of them growing up). We went there last season and won 3-0 so no reason why we cant win again. It just makes the Hamilton and Dundee results all the more frustrating, 3 points from one of those would be in a much better league position. Celtic can remain undefeated but they can have all the draws in the world like Motherwell they like, 2 dropped from them is big.
-
I would take into consideration in that time he hasnt had to play Rangers, nor even Hibs, Hearts and Dundee Utd every year in that time for the full time in charge. Its a percentage against Ross County, Kilmarnock etc and Aberdeen who are the so called Liverpool of Scotland should be ahead of the lower sides every year considering. Plus their European qualification games have not went well at all, typical Scottish mindset of glorious failure - that concerns me. I would much prefer a winning mentality. Speaking of of the Scottish / British experience I wonder if Sir Alex fancies coming home
-
Probably right there else he would be needing protection tomorrow. But if this is the case a few clues will be in Aberdeens performance tomorrow. Im not fully against it being McInnes but think we should be aiming higher.
-
Advocaat over McInnes. He's available plus has the British / Scottish experience. However no way will it be Advocaat, King said its a decision they are getting right for the next 3 years, Advocaat would be a short term until the end of the season.
