Cannavaro and Gerrard

Agreeing with Danny here, he is an awesome talent and with the right coaching he could be a world class player. He needs to cut out a bit of the play acting on his own. However i think he will move on from Man Utd because he has become a hated figure who will get booed over england if he stays. I think it would be in both his and Man utds interest for him to leave and if they got 20 million for him they should take it.

You must go to Celtic away and experience PLG winning there on his first game!! Id do anything to get to that game. Motherwell and Killie must be pretty handy for you aswell not having to travel far!!?
-
YOu cant complain with that! Anything that involves Celtic away is a boost!! Remember folks - Aberdeen away on the 23rd Dec if yous cant make it im your man seen as il be travelling 8500 miles for that game!!

Who do you want to win / who do you think will win?
Gribz replied to Gribz's topic in General Football Chat
Id take an Henry hatrick as long as Klose doesnt score tonight coz ive still got Henry on to finish top scorer. -
2 different things for France v Italy who do you want to win but who do you think will win? I am swaying towards wanting the Italians to win it but swaying towards the French as to who i think will win. BTW if anyone is a bit superstitious and wants to go down the bookies here is an interesting fact. Italy get to the final every 12 years and take turn in losing it then winning it: 1970 - Final defeat to Brazil 1982 - Final victory over W Germany 1994 - Final defeat to Brazil 2006 - Final victory to France?????

Its difficult to argue which one was the best out of the 2 Argy goals because they were so different. 1 was a piece of individual brilliance that was pure instinct and the other was just total football.
-
It still makes you think why Sven chose to do this in the first place. Average Joe's like us could see it wasnt working, the TV pundits said it after the games and even the players knew it. Perhaps Sven didnt want England to win after all
-
Read this earlier on. If the players dont agree with it why would the manager persist with it, surely there is communication in a squad! I can see 1 or 2 more coming out with the same.
-
Those 2 are definatly the best 2 for me Stewarty. Id go for Cambiasso's as the winner, it was long build up play and team work at its best. They also got a further 3 crackers in that game.
-
The 3rd/4th place always seems like a meaningless game as nobody would want to not play in the final after the semi final. I cant see either team being fired up but German pride will be at large in this game and a medal is given to the winner. Also Klose wants to confirm his top scorer award. We may even see a good game of football under the circumstances. I think we might get some goals Germany 3-1 Portugal

Last season i would have agreed with you here. I wasnt pleased with McLeish when Ferguson came back and got the captaincy back. I thought he should of been further down the pecking order. The captaincy seemed give him more responisiblity amongst other things that was too much for him. However this is a new regime and Im sure Le Guen will make sure the pressure isnt on like last season. With Klos a doubt to play another game for us, the jury still out on Ricksen and Prso's fitness Im sure Ferguson is the best man for the job.
-
Agreed and Robertson before him was always flying down the left. Robertson was underrated and should of got much more Scotland caps. Ive only saw Stevie Smith a few times but he has impressed me on every occassion, more so than Ian Murray who also impressed at the start of last season.
-
Agreed Danny, i wasnt happy about paying 3.5 million for someone i havent really saw play. And saying he is behind Allback puts it into perspective. There must be more options out there who would also be cheaper.
-
Yeah im happy its all signed and sealed. As PLG says he will give us great balance in midfield something we havent had in years.
-
They have a better right sided midfielder in Solano anyway.
-
Yeah agree with all that Juff and no more so than Cannavaro being player of the tournament. When teams like Togo, Japan etc are in a tournament we're never going to get classics, its only when the big boys come up against each other its good. Thats why ive always thought the Euro's are better than the WC. I honestly dont mind who wins so will just enjoy the final. I quite like the Italians but would also like to see Zidane go out on a high. I wonder what the odds are for him receiving a red card in the final!!!
-
Earliest and best WC i remember is 86 and Scotland playing Uruguay when one of there players got red carded after about 10 seconds!! At the start of the tournament i said i cant write of France, any team with Thuram, Makelele, Vieira, Zidane and Henry had to be in with a slight chance. Italy have been impressive in patches and as Gav says there win over Germany was joint game of the tournament with Argentina v Serbia - that was the best display ive ever seen at this level. Its very tough to call. Im afraid i cant see a classic as both teams will be cautious and can see a repeat of the 1990 boring final when W Germany won it with a pen. Im going to sit on the fence and say a draw after 90 mins and aet and it will go to pens. BTW IMO the best team in the tournament was Argentina, they were unlucky and shouldnt of subbed Riquelme against Germany or they might be in the final tonight.

Juve certainly look like they are in the shit if their lawyer is even saying a suitable charge is relegation. I still have a feeling something will go wrong and injustice will prevail once again. Im not sure what but the most i can see Juve getting is a heafty fine, 6 pts deduction for next season.

Who Should Pay For The Rising Price Of Football?
Gribz replied to CammyF's topic in General Football Chat
Agreed, its pure a common sense answer - some can make it, some cant. Id love to be going back to Ibrox regularly again just now but its absolutely impossible. Even when i stayed in UK a 3 hour train journey (each way) plus expenses for the day took its tole on the pocket over a season and meant the amount of games i could go to was restricted. And then there is the fact we could be going to watch 90 mins of dire against Livingston for 22 quid. If TV companies what to charge what they are charging just now then so be it, if those who go to games dont like the fact its cheaper then either stop going to games and watch it at home or accept it. The other point is people want to watch football in general. Im a huge fan of the EPL so rightly am a arm chair fan of this as going to the EPL every week would be pretty difficult. -
Cheers Frankie, interesting! Only Letizi making his debut! Whats interesting is we probably wont look nothing like that when the season starts. Sionko, Svensson, Clement, Ferguson, Prso and possibly Elmander would be starters.

Where do Newcastle get all the money? 17 million for Owen who is on 102k a week and now they want Beckham for 120k a week. They are after Anelka aswell. Crazy money.

He did ok at Leicester but was a waste at Liverpool. He has never impressed me at all.
