Really cant see him touching Coistys record. Super Ally was pretty lucky with injurys and played a lot bar for a year when Souness was in charge. He also bagged 44 goals 2 years running and that alone must be some sort of record. But Boyd will pass Larsson!

For the lazy ones:
-
Id say its been a better year for defenders. Zambrotta and John Terry have had as good a year as Ronaldinho and Zidane.
-
Just a thought, but who was the striker we had last season for a few games and he scored a few on his debut - Nieto?? I think he would have been a good player to hang on to and may have been the type of striker we are looking for.
-
I think the 1000 pound fine is a joke. The players also suggested this amount and knew prior that he said he is putting the money to Great Ormand St hospital. But when he probably makes 25k a week he should surely be sticking at least 5 grand in.
-
But now Ricksen has beed freed and gave us a Million we may not have to wait until summer for Prso replacement. IF Le Guen knows of a replacement it would make more sense to bring him in and get a partnership going with Boyd so that its ready for the start of next season, rather than leaving them to gel 8 games into next year. As for Sebo being 10 times the player Sebo is, its only coz he has played 10 times the amount.

1 million is way above what i expected so thats great. Plus his wages are gone so that 1 down a few to go (Rae Klos etc)

Id of had Henry in ahead of Zidane. Zidane only came good for a few games in the WC. And if you compare Zidanes season at Real Madrid with Henrys at Arsenal, Henry had the better season. But Cannavaro to win
-
Never realised he even played for Frankfurter. Good goal but he wont do that again in a hurry. He wasnt a bad player in his first spell with us, I remember on his debut we had a GersNet meet up brfore the game that day and we were raving about him after the game.
-
A shout for offside maybe But awesome technique
-
Anyone else heard this from a closer source?? I hope we got something for him although i expect nothing more than 200k, but at least the wages are freed up

This is a good question and well timed. This time 10 days ago and maybe after the Celtic v Man U game i wasnt confident at all. I thought Celtic would be stronger all over the pitch. But recently we have started to come onto a game. We've kept the same line up for a few games which brings consistancy and confidence. We've kept clean sheets (Something Fraser cant do during the night ) So Im starting to ge a bit more confidence and the fact this game is at Ibrox always gives more more confidence. I also think there defence is weak and can be exploited. But it will all be about how we line up on the day and we need to win the midfield battle. The next few games will be important first though as preparation and team selection on the day. But if we keep going with the form we have them it will be a huge chance to close the gap in time for the busy Xmas period.

To be fair you have a point but I still think 2 things. 1) He needs the right partner upfront with him -ie a big target man who can hold up play and feed him through. Hateley is the example but a stiker of that class would be out of our budget. 2) Ive just forgot reason 2 coz i went and made coffee. But I think he also needs to improve his all round game if he is to play in this system, and as Gav say his first touch. BTW can i just ask about this SPL goalscoring record - what year is it recorded from?
-
I think its been misread also and he would like to play in Spain again some day and there is no way he would be linked with Celtic. As for mobile phones, its unbelivable that this time 10 years ago nobody knew a sniff about them, and they were the size of your keyboard. Then only people who really had them was top end business men. Now everyone has one from 8 yr old kids to 80 yr old Granny's and you cant walk down a street without seeing them everywhere. Id like to see the figures for the growth of mobile phone companies in the last 8 years.

Teams could start to take points off them if they raised there game and confidence like they did against us recently. I still think there defence is vungerable to concede plenty

If you don't have a ticket. Hope you've got Setanta

That must mean 3 away games on the trot?? -
Nah you havent been the only one, Ive been saying it all along also. Looked a peach of a signing in the first few games. Hopefully now his injuries are over he does more of the same.
-
Heard he has confirmed he will retire at the end if the season but hopes to do so with a UEFA cup winners medal. C'mon the Dado
-
That means they will return for the OF game on Dec 17th!
-
I switched this game on just as it became 2-2 so didnt want to watch Celtic possibly get a 3rd goal. But the Man U v Chelsea game was superb stuff. But the bits i caught were played at a high tempo. I faniced a draw and would have taken that at the start of the game for us but it is annoying Hibs gave away a lead like that. And Steven Glass should have won it in the last minute. But Hibs are a credit to the SPL at the moment. While Hearts make the headlines Hibs have came along with homegrown talent. It seems John Collins will continue the good work Mowbray done. But we have them at Ibrox in 2 weeks and its about time we gave them a defeat back!!
-
I see what your saying Calscot and the only reason against the OF joining the EPL from my opinion is the national team would suffer the most. But if it didnt then i couldnt care less about the other SPL sides. They all show the OF (especially us) hatred, but when it comes to playing us 4 times a season they NEED us. But I like the idea of an Atlantic league with 5 from each country. BTW on a side note, should Cardiff get promotion this season I'll be interested to see if any of the EPL sides complain that a Welsh side shouldnt be there.

Slightly disagree here. I think Le Guen's experimenting can last a good few more months yet. What happens if / when he brings in 1 or 2 more additions in Jan, surely he will have to try out a few things. Id rather we try everything and to make aure we get everything right rather that just be satisifed with maybe our second best line up - Again its hindsight but this season is transformation time and Im sure we are still good enough to claim 2nd place. On the other hand if we are winning games which we have done recently then I agree keave it all be for now.
-
Some good key points in that article. The first one that jumped out at me is "Le Guen' patience". I agree he is being very patient but the last couple of weeks have shown promise that it may pay off. The second encouraging point was Sionko is looking like a player. Im a fan of him and would like to see him play RM for a good run of games. The defence we all know about, but 3 clean sheets in a row in the SPL can only being them confidence. Lastly, I agree that Ferguson should maybe put an arm round team mates at times rather than going off on one. I can understand getting frustrated but maybe he should try another approach when on the public eye and keep the ranting to closed doors.
-
Yeah your right Barry, the system isnt made for him and because he is a player who isnt blessed with pace it looks like he is out of games for the majority of it. Id like to see him with a target man upfront. I know we arent going to get the quality of Hateley anytime in the near future but Sebo looks a strong player who could come good with a run up top.

Havent seen them goals yet, but I wasnt surprised Bolton beat Arsenal at the Reebok again. And Anelka was due to get off the mark, if he goes on a scoring run then Bolton will take a bit of beating. Arsenal are playing better football than they were last season but its the same old story of dropping silly games. How can they expect to win the league when they draw at home against the likes of Boro, Everton and Newcastle then get beat 3-1 at Bolton.
