Im surprised (but happy) that this has been wrapped up so quickly. It means the new owners only had 1 man in there minds and Curbs would probably do the job for nothing. This will be a massive test for him. He has only ever been the manager of Charlton but did wonders in making them a regular EPL club and getting top half finishes. You just look at Charlton this season to realise what they have lost. But the test is can he take a bigger club onto a better level. Totally agree with Ascender, Pressley is a player id take even if Svensson and Papac were doing well. He would be a great back up. But seen as our defence is poor we should have signed him up by now. The bottom line is he is a good defender who will give 110% and is exactly what we require at the moment.

I see both sides Craig, but we cant give up the league that easy. Resting a few players for the UEFA game also gives other players to come in and show what they can do in the same way as if they were coming in due to injuries. Even with 1 or 2 changes we surely still have enough to beat Belgrade who got thumped 4-1 from Auxerre. I cant see us catching Celtic but we can still beat them 3 times and they will drop a few other points elsewhere along the way. Its a huge task but a win on Sunday will be a big lift to the team and we should NEVER be giving up against them.

The teams are for the UEFA match. There is no way id risk key players for a match where we have already qualified and a huge OF match coming up. It would just be the Rangers luck for us to lose a few players ahead of this one.

He was a class player 10 years ago but went right off the boil when he left Liverpool. I remember his last England cap at St James Pk and people were asking who the imposter of McManaman was - he was that bad. He best goal was that one at Parkhead in the 2-2 draw where he ran the length of the pitch then stuck it in the corner in the last minute. He has been out here in Singapore doing TV work but he is a bit if a cocky arse so hopefully he stays with HK Rangers for a while before doing more TV work.

I know there is a UEFA game on Thursday first to deal with but Im really looking forward to Sunday night for the game. The Hibs game was good preparation and the confidence booster we needed. The form of Ferguson is well timed as we need him at his best on Sunday. At Ibrox I always feel confident against them. I think Le Guen needs to rest a few players in the UEFA match so key players dont pick up injuries, and we have qualified anyway. We cant rest Smith unless Ian Murray is ready to step in. I could see it coming but thought he would have another few games. They have been poor for weeks now and it was getting a bigger hole for him to get out so the board have acted now. Personally id of kept him on a bit longer because he deserved the chance after 2 great previous seasons. Curbishly is the favourite but I have a sneaky feeling it wont be him either. Id take him miles ahead of the list the BBC have listed - Eriksson, O'Leary, Hoddle and Dowie! George Graham is also on the list and id take him. I just hope McLeish isnt linked either because he was linked there when he was at Hibs. But my first choice has to be Venebles. Rumours is he is not happy at No.2 with England. But Vurbs would be nicely.

I agree with Jon and Andy Gray, Essiens strike was better. It was going wide until the last second and Lehmann's positon couldnt have been better. Taylors strike was good, it looked like it was going out the stadium then just dipped in. Neither goal tops Patrick Bergers strike the other season for Pompey against Charlton though, when he flicked it up and volloyed it on the turn.

He is still a better short term solution than not. If Celtic get him then it boosts there defence IMO.
