  1. I got 3 out of 4 for the 2nd night running (if you count Milans win and the agg score between Bayern and RM )
  2. What i thought was funny was the Inter players chasing him and trying to do proper sliding tackles on him as if he had a ball at his feet They should have went in Roy Keane on Alf Haaland style!!!
  3. Good post SA and a few of us will have some fun now with our wish lists. It all depends on who WS has in his plans next season. Its strange but this season reminds me of Walters last season in charge when we went for 10IAR. The team was finished and needed overhauled - but we got that with millions to spend. I'll naturally start at the back - IMO we need a new keeper. McGregor is great back up but after being spoilt by Woods, Goram, Klos and probably Charbonnier and Niemi then I want a high standard of keeper again. Its a position we have always been strong in and it must continue. For every 2 great saves McGregor makes he has a bad fluff. - The problem is who can we get - Craig Gordon will be out of our price range. Id be tempted to see if Niemi could return as he still has a few more years in him. At CH 1 of Svensson and Papac will leave IMO. I wouldnt be surprised if it was Svensson as Papac can fill in a LB. But we are looking strong there if Webster signs long term. The RB position is causing plenty of debate. Some think Hutton is poor some think he is average and some think above average. My personal opinion is he is doing a decent job but there is better out there, but its not a vital position that we need to search for. LB im happy with Smith and Murray for time being, but ive always liked Naysmith at Everton. Midfield - The area in the park where we struggle the most with players. Lee McCulloch would be a great signing IMO, he is a solid left sided player who can play upfront. Nigel Quashie is another who I feel would be an asset for us. Gavin Rae will leave and Sionko should go with him. Upfront again depends on who goes. Novo looks like he will go and im 50/50 either way but if we dont sign someone better his name will get mentioned lots next season as a guy we shouldnt have let go. I really hope Prso gets a great rest over the summer and gives us another season. Scott McDonald is a waste of money IMO and if he partners Boyd upfront then thats a forward line Dundee Utd could probably laugh at. Our best XI may come in the form of 3-5-2 with the guys in bold needing signed: _______________Niemi____________ ______Weir_____Webster_____Ehiogu___ ________Hemdani____Thompson______ Brown_______Ferguson_____McCulloch ___________Prso____Lovenkrands______
  4. Good shout!! That wouldnt be a bad signing at all
  5. I have been a fan of Hutton this season, i think he has proved critics wrong and been a very decent RB. But Adam has been poor more than anything else, and to think he claimed he could be a new Albertz earlier in the season They (along with others) are average SPL players at best and thats why we finished 3rd last season and are fighting for 2nd this season. If we want to challenge for the title our first team has to be a lot better. We are 20odd points Celtic - thats a quarter of a seasons worth of games we need to over- turn to be better than them so we need more quality. Granted, PLG didnt have a clue and these guys may come better under WS, one thing is for sure, they will give more effort!!. Possibly S_A, but has the 3 we have pre-signed made you stand up and say "they are going to take us to the next level"? Granted Gow and Broadfoot are new to the scene but McDonald has been around and nobody has ever said he would do a good job for us!! Yes, Gravesen hasnt set the SPL alight but my point was aiming towards the fact Celtic are looking at players from big clubs while we are tapping small Scottish sides for there supposed better players. I'll certainly hold my hands up if they prove me wrong. I did it with Ferguson this season when he was playing poor and now im giving him praise for turning his game round and being MOTM everyweek. Pete, no way IMO, the scottish game has went downhill and backwards, but its more the fault of the people who run the game more than the talent. The SFL got a report the other day stated it was an un-suitable organisation and being ran victoria style.
  6. Yeah, can you imagine rugby players doing that They maybe play a fannies sport but Rugby boys know how to handle themselves
  7. TBH I thought that aswell even though I put down a home win. Arsenal are just not clicking this season again but you can see progress of a young good side. The one thing that might have made them win last night was that fact there season was hanging by this game - they got beat by Chelsea (undeservedly IMO) and then out the cup at Blackburn. I can see a few changes at Arsenal in the summer, i think Henry will move on he has had his poorest season this year but he has been unlucky with injuries. Im shouting for Man U
  8. Thats a respectable scoreline from them, I thought they might get cuffed 4-0 but Milan obviously never showed up. Agree about away goal rule, it should be scrapped full stop, there are many things that can make it an unfair rule and it doesnt claim 1 side is better than the other. But the result means we can outsing them on sunday for 90 mins with "No tims in europe"
  9. William Hill odds considering 4 matches still to be played and the quarter final draw still needs to be done: Roma jumps out at me as a nice bet as does Munich and R Madrid.
  10. Really cant see us getting him with a few EPL clubs chasing him.
  11. Yeah i was going to say I wouldnt have liked to have been the first guy Toldo saw when he came in! He is a big loon!!
  12. Ok, you have a point that they havent had a chance yet but they havent over impressed. IMO taking 1 or 2 SPL players is ok for the squad but if we have approx 7 or 8 in the team then we are going to be at the level of the other SPL clubs. - Thats simply not good enough for us as it shows we are going backwards. Surely we should be aiming higher than St Mirren, Motherwell and Falkirk players when our rivals are signing from the likes of Real Madrid
  13. Quite possibly Cammy, as I dont think Broadfoot, Gow and McDonald are any better than what we have. But as you say WS has his work cut out and I dont think it can all be done this summer. So to get the ball rolling we identify who is good enough to get us to the next level. I would add Ehiogu, Webster, Weir and Smith to your list of Ferguson, Hemdani and Thompson. I think Buffel is a possibility aswell if he can get his finger out. Obviously Prso aswell if he is fit. The likes of Mcgregor, Murray, Hutton, Burke, Adam, Boyd etc will all make good squad players eventually but they will be first teamers next season.
  14. Some interesting points that some posters think these signings will be squad players with the duds leaving and then 3 or 4 more players coming in as first team players. However, I dont see this, hopefully im wrong. The guys coming in arent any better than Sionko and Papac, but I dont know about Sebo as he hasnt had a chance yet. If we are to move onto a better level and compete even domestically again we need better signings. I dont see us winning many trophies in Scotland unless these experienced players come in. IMO our top targets should be a better keeper, another midfielder and a striker (if Novo, Sebo leave). But im still hoping for Lee McCulloch and id welcome a Lovenkrands return. A RB may also be required.
  15. Try a celtic website
  16. Excellent stats Frankie. I was just doing a search round the net on Monday for such stuff including attendances.
  17. This is where we miss Lovenkrands in Europe a bit. He could cut in from the left and shoot from 20 yards and it would go in. He wasnt consistent but id have him on the left side right now hands down!!
  18. Im going to stick my neck out and say Man Utd and id be happy with that. Its wide open, not 1 of those teams stick out, but Ive a sneaky feeling for Chelsea aswell - they want it badly.
  19. Im sure Everton allowed his contract to end. But its a MUST that he is persuaded to stay on for another season. Im pretty sure he hasnt mentioned anything about retiring. And Ehiogu is the same - How long is his contract for?? Berti Vogts has done us a favour from leaving him out the national team for 2 years - it means we are getting more mileage out of him - first good thing berti has done since joining Nigeria!!
  20. Agreed I was tempted with Adam in for Thompson or even Burke on the left. Thompson had a pretty poor game on sunday so he would make way ahead of Hemdani who hasnt let us down this season. I dont like the team with only one upfront with Ferguson behind the striker. Id much rather see 2 upfront. I set my team out as a 4-4-2 but it could be more like this with Burke and Prso pulling wide in a 4-5-1 at times: _______________Klos_______________ Hutton____Weir_____Ehiogu_____Murray ____Ferguson__Hemdani___Thompson__ _____Burke_____Novo_______Prso_____ However that would be my XI, i think Walter will start with Adam and Boyd in the team. But IMO Prso HAS to play!!
  21. AC Milan v Celtic - Home win Arsenal v PSV - Home win Bayern V R Madrid - Draw Man U v Lille - Home win That WOULD leave the last 8 IMO as: AC Milan Arsenal Bayern Chelsea Liverpool Man U Roma Valencia I think an English side could win it this year.
  22. 3 out of 4 from me wasnt bad - Roma beating Lyon was the one i got wrong. Thats 4 good sides in the quarters
  23. Chelsea arent playing too well at all but still winning. It makes the quarter final draw more exciting with them in it. Hopefully Man U and Arsenal win tonight and we have a couple of all english games
  24. That was funny the wee boy in the grey tracksuit legging it from everyone!! What a fanny! No clip of Toldo busting into the dressing room??
  25. So thats Kirk Broadfoot joining Andy Gow in signing pre-contract terms with us for next season. Scott McDonald looks likely aswell. I really hope my doubts are proved wrong but im far from optimistic about these 3. I also think Scott Brown will follow. It looks like Walter see's something in them - fair enough - and he may be trying to mould a young squad who play as a good team but time will tell. The 1 aspect which is improving is the amount of Scots in the squad - we can field a full team and the bench. But id still rather be going for the likes of McCulloch, McFadden, Webster (permanent), aling with an experienced striker with a half big name like Fowler. With the new signings coming in, we will have to ship out players. Rae is a cert to go, and it doesnt look like Novo will be offered a new deal, but id have Novo ahead of McDonald. I can see Sebo and Buffel also been shown the door.
