  1. ...That John Greig is the greatest ever Ger?? Personally i say no but its difficult to say as its a generation thing. However when i look at the record books Bill Struth is one of a few (including Greig) that we must think about. As for playing for Rangers, i would have be biased due to my generation and go with Brian Laudrup as the best EVER player to pull on the blue jersey. He was simply untouchable and he changed the Scottish game, if not the British game as a hole. Paul Gascoigne had the same ability and on his day was probably a better player. Gazza on his day is only 2nd to Maradona on the all time greats for ability. Not even Pele could run with the ball from anywhere on the park and end up sticking it in the back on the net, only the best can do this and Gazza fits on there after Maradona. After that for the Gers you have Greig, Baxter, McCoist, Albertz etc... But Laudrup wins for me!!!!
  2. Its been on the cards and its a great move as he has brought stability to the defence. He has been a breathe of fresh air at the back and taking him ahead of Pressley has turned out to be the better move. Same next season Davie.........
  3. I used to like it when we were at Pittodrie in the Mid-90s and McNee was commentating and we would be right under the gantry singing "McNee talks a lot of shite, McNee talks a lot of shite........" (to the same tune as Rangers are the champions - Go West Pet Shop Boys))
  4. Was just thinking about the weekend coupon myself, il have a wee look on ladbrokes site just now. Not sure who to back this weekend. Charlton and West Ham are 2 of my teams anyway. To be continued........
  5. Its much better, plus in a small ground like tynecastle it would be pumping, and the game would be fast and furious but at hampden it will be like playing with mute on
  6. I cant believe Dunfermline and Hibs have to go back to Hampden for a reply. This should have been decided on the day just like the FA Cup semi between Chelsea and Blackburn. But the decision to take them back to Hampden for a reply is nonsense, they should surely be going to Tynecastle. There was only 25,000 at Hampden so the atmosphere would have been terrible and quiet, but they could fill Tynecastle and have a great cup atmosphere as there is a place in europe for the winners of this game!! - Those running our game couldnt run a bath. They are screening the reply live on TV and due to it being a midweek tie they expect a lower crowd at the game. This is nuts. They cant even suggest simple things to raise the crowd and revenue like - 1) let those who were at the first game in for half price as long as they produce there original ticket. 2) Those who produce there ticket can bring a mate who gets in for a tener 3) Let kids in for a fiver 4) Allow local schools into the East and West Stands (which are closed coz Hibs and Dunfermline cant fill it) in for a quid. 5) Families can buy 2 tickets and the kids get in free All this sort of thing above creates more revenue and a better atmosphere.
  7. This is depressing in a way. Why dont the other clubs want to advance and have a 2nd SPL to try and boost revenue etc!!! The worst part is the SPL may invite the other 8 clubs in and have this breakaway which will create 2 leagues of 10. Who is honestly running the game in Scotland??? They are a joke!!! Everyman and his dog outside those in charge realise we need to expand the SPL to at least 14 teams and scrap a lower division and make it 3 leagues. The likes of Dundee, Gretna, St Johnstone, Livingston, Partick and Clyde are all capable of holding there own against Dunfermline, St Mirren and Motherwell etc and we should have a 16 teams in the top flight. We could be playing each team twice then have some sort of breakaway / split where the bottom sides have some sort of play off and the top sides play each other again.
  8. Yeah ive been reading about this also and agree its a good idea. It stops the internationals being stop/start and disturbing the club campaigns but at the same time creates interest and is a huge advantage to the international teams as they get more time together and play a handful of matches close knit. The only disadvantage i can see is if certain countries seasons are finished but it shouldnt affect to much as many players play abroad.
  9. Well lets hope he gets a good show. The opposition could have been a lot worse, so the potential is there!!!
  10. For some reason Frasers pics do make it look a bit better, maybe the blue looks a bit stronger and darker. The away has potential, but in the link it looks like a chicks top and it comes narrow at the sides.
  11. And a pot belly!!! In all seriousness he needs to trim himself down and he might be more mobile in and around the box.
  12. I think the Americans are different to the other investors. I think they are doing it for other interests and to gain a control in the biggest sport in the world.
  13. This is the exact kinda game the club should allow ST holders in for free after the 15 quid price increase. I can understand the Chelsea game being a money maker but this one should be valid. However I suppose ST holders will have to fork out?? Any word on this?
  14. What is it with these Yanks trying to take over "our" game and buy out all our football teams!! Its becoming an increasing habbit, it starts off with 1 then another, and 1 by 1 there will be at least 10 EPL clubs being ran by Americans. Arsenal are the latest team to be approached and an American firm got 10% stake last night with long time serving David Dein moving on with immidate effect. Arsenal have been ran superbly in the last 20 years but now the Yanks are moving in on them. Is it because they want control? Is it because the US game will never be big due to the popularity of the South American and European game?? Soon they are going to be running Premiership!!! It wouldnt surprise me in 10 years time Americans running the Premiership, owing teams and some sort of link between there league and the Premiership. I say buggar off and keep to playing Baseball, Ice Hockey, Basketball and Gridiron.
  15. Turned the game off when the 4th goal went in. West Ham were easy the better side in the first half and could have been ahead and we did to score straight away. Andy Gray said the first goal was of the highest quality, i disagree, i thought the marking was shocking and SWP got through too easy. But his 2nd goal was class. Curbishley has had some big excuses like we need luck, but there is no excuse for playing Dumbo upfront (Zamora). He is another Kris Boyd and out of his depth at that level. I cant understand why Harewood, Carlton Cole, Sheringham, Branco dont get a look in. Harewood has pace and hassles defenders, Cole has pace, Teddy is still the cleverest player there and was playing well under Pardew, but Curbs insists on playing Zamora. The 2nd half West Ham Zamora had an open tap in to make it 2-2 but he didnt even see it coming then Chelsea took over. I was fuming. We have to beat Everton, Wigan and Bolton now or we are down but i cant see us getting more than 7 points from those games.
  16. I think this was because he was in a midfield full of quality superstars and fans favourites but he was great at his job of digging in and winning things. Id take him back for a season.
  17. Yeah and im getting up tonight to watch us dent Chelsea's premiership hopes. C'MON YOU IRONS
  18. Yeah i agree with this to an extent. Football is not sports entertainment like Wrestling as entertainment is something that is staged. We are blessed that due to football being the best game in the world we can be hugely entertained but some games can equally be dire. As a neutral we all want the big cup finals to be 4-3 wins and we all want to see our team play great football but its never always going to be that.
  19. You always here of clubs doing this but nothing much ever materialises. Hopefully this one works and they can send a few Claudio Reyna's over. But we should already have a scouting netwrok set up in the USA although the US would be far down on my list of priorities. Anyway, I wonder if there is chance of getting Becks for our right midfield next season!!!
  20. Its fair enough if they give you some sort of extra package like throwing in the friendly against Chelsea or someone else. Is the ST valid for Scottish cup games still? I know it is for league games but its not handy if we are drawn away from home in every round which is possible.
  21. You should have sent the form back with no card details and a note saying no thanks and gave your reasons. Id be interested to hear if anyone does get a ST the same price as last year. BTW dont you sit in the main stand Gav?? How come your seat was only 410 but mine in the club deck was 540 and that was 7 or 8 years ago!!!!
  22. I hope its not a waste signing a striker like this and having nobody in the squad who can create for him. Thats why i say keep Buffel and get him on top of his game.
  23. I still dont agree with taking out a strip every season so I wont be buying that, plus i think its ugly. They are going to run out of designs taking one out every season.
  24. I would go with that except Id put Ian Ferguson in - he got all 9IAR medals so deserves it IMO. If your putting Numan in you have to put Davie Robertson in - He served as good as the dutchman. And maybe a shout for Gary Stevens. Im not sure about Rod Wallace though - Not quite a rangers legend, id have Michael Mols and Gordon Durie in there ahead of him.
  25. Well done !!! Was it not Duncan Ferguson who got fined for kicking the shit out of burglars at his place once?
