Lenny Must Stay, Lenny Must Stay..... I was delighted when he got reappointed, he is out of his depth.

Cant beat a 6am Shandy on OF derby day.

Cracking result for Sheff Utd. Im not a fan of them at all but its good to see Chelsea drop points. Man Utd again mediocre. And all of a sudden Woy's Palace are in the CL spots!
-
There is something about me that wants to see Defoe play. He is a world class finisher.

Cheers Chelseaboy, dont think you will be far off with a few. West Ham HAVE to win though. I fancy Watford to get off the mark at Newcastle, it would be typical Newcastle to win at Spurs then lose at home. Nice to see you have a crack at the scores. Ive been getting it wrong for weeks along with the 2 old (great) codgers Scott and Compo.

A Murray Park / Ibrox invitation for our Romanian friends to train prior to their visit to Parkhead???

Sorry Frankie, was actually going to do one this morning when I got up and didnt see any thread on it - but thought the OF game would have been booked by someone else. I didnt check the listings. Has to be the most confident we have gone into an OF game in many a year. Favourites for the first time in about 8 years. I want to see attacking going right at them from the off. Id like to fit in Jones Aribo and Ojo (if all fit) but that means one from Davis and Kamara misses out. Arfield isnt at the races but he does play well in OF games so its a tough one for Gerrard to give him the chance or leave him out. McGregor Tav Goldson Katic Barisic Kamara Jack Aribo Ojo Jones Morelos

Europa League Group Stage: Rangers / Porto / Young Boys / Feyenoord
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Young Boys stadium is always rocking, but the Switz league isnt exactly in Europes elite so Id say SG will be targeting 4 points off them. Have to say - imagine UEFA allowing Cluj knock Celtic out of Europe twice in one season -
I do like AC Milan and want to see them back in the CL eventually but its good to see Atalanta in the CL, they deserved it from last season and hope they do well.

Europa League Group Stage: Rangers / Porto / Young Boys / Feyenoord

Porto are a Champions League Club IMO so are heavy Favorites. Apart from that absolutely nothing to fear. Young Boys have to be beatable and Feyenoord are not the same team they were. -
Who knows where to start with the scores this weekend. Saturday: Southampton 1-1 Man Utd Chelsea 2-0 Sheff Utd Crystal Palace 1-0 Aston Villa Leicester 2-0 Bournemouth Man City 4-0 Brighton Newcastle 0-1 Watford West Ham 2-1 Norwich Burnley 0-2 Liverpool Super Sunday after Rangers 2-0 Celtic: Everton 1-0 Wolves Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham

Practically a bye for Man City and Liverpool. PSG v Real Madrid will be tasty in Group A. But both should ease through. Tough away days for Spurs but they should have enough to join Bayern through. Group F is superb. Dortmund are in form and Inter under Conte will be good. Barca have their work cut out this season to win that group. Group G is really interesting. No heavyweight but 4 teams on par. Not sure what to make of Chelsea under Frank yet. Ajax were cracking last season. Group A: Paris St-Germain Real Madrid Club Bruges Galatasaray Group B: Bayern Munich Tottenham Olympiakos Red Star Belgrade Group ? Manchester City Shakhtar Donetsk Dinamo Zagreb Atalanta Group ? Juventus Atletico Madrid Bayer Leverkusen Lokomotiv Moscow Group E: Liverpool Napoli Salzburg Genk Group F: Barcelona Borussia Dortmund Inter Milan Slavia Prague Group G: Zenit St Petersburg Benfica Lyon RB Leipzig Group H: Chelsea Ajax Valencia Lille

Agreed Ian. He is getting better by the game. A wee bit of Neil McCann in him although JJ likes to cut inside a bit more but a pacey direct winger none the less. -

Id fancy this: Man Utd Copenhagen Espanyol Rangers If we wanted an easier passage on paper: FC Basel Gent Stade Rennes / Malmo Rangers I hope the draw isnt such a drag as the CL draw last night. I fell asleep watching it and missed the first 20 minutes of our game! -

A lot will depend if Ojo makes it. No issue with your suggestion. It would have to be Davis to make way and Jones for me but Davis experience could be very key tonight for an hour. However if thats the case then this midfield is equally appealing as my first team: Kamara Jack Aribo Ojo Jones -

Agree with Frankie about Arfield. For me Id start with this. If Ojo doesnt make it then Id bring Jones in. McGregor Tavernier Goldson Katic Flanagan Davis Jack Kamara Ojo Aribo Morelos -
They have to do an AFC Wimbledon. The ownership of Wimbledon is around 3000 people with shares so a fat cat cant come in and do a takeover and run the club to the ground. They still have a board of directors but its annually voted. Its a good platform for a team in that division, its unlikely they would get severe investment doing it this way unless you get someone with silly amounts of cash donating it but its a solid structure. I feel for the local businesses around Gigg Lane who get a big intake on match day, its them who will get hit worst. Steven Dale and Stewart Day have a lot to answer for. The EFL arent blameless but should have had better rules and regulations in place. The fit an proper test isnt use if they dont look at the clubs financial situation also to compare if the fit and proper person has enough to cover debts etc. I think and hope Bolton will get a takeover due to the size of the club plus the assets including the hotel. But they do have a large debt.

Its the first time Ive looked at the squad and thought "Who?" about 9 times. During Craig Broon era the squad was made up with players playing in England. Midfield is strongish but thats about it. Weakest set of goalkeepers in my lifetime, I had to check to see who the actual goalkeepers were. I saw David Marshall but thought he had well retired.

The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread
Gribz replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Phew, dodged a bullet there. He would have sat in the treatment room most of the time. Good on his day but plays about as much as Andy Carroll. Give me Defoe any day. -

Im a Katic fan but it was last season I had a slight gripe when loanee Worrall was picked ahead of him. I think we have 4 fine centre halfs at the moment. Gerrard has so much options in rotating the squad but defensive formation doesnt seem to be an option. Id like to see us try a 3 at the back sometime, perhaps a home league match against Killie or the likes. My preference at the moment is the back four due to the amount of good options in the midfield / wings but a plan B with a 3 would be interesting. -
The next 48 hours crucial for Bury and Neighbours Bolton. Bolton seem to be in the worse state, the Administrators have said they will be liquidated unless a buyer is found in the 11th hour. Thats a big shock. Not so long ago they had Campo, Djorkaeff, Jay Jay Okocha, Anelka and were going well in the top flight and Arsenal's boggy team. Its some stadium they have there aswell. I went to it when it was called the Reebok once for an FA Cup match v Sunderland (very random day out). and its a great layout, great parking and great access to the ground. The buyers for Bury who agreed a deal are saying they cant conclude until Wed / Thurs because of a bank holiday and their lead advisors are on off today - I have to say thats lame, surely with such bid they can pay their advisors a bit of overtime!

Yeah, and he didnt need to come out and say that his team are unsettled. Its only really Erikson that has been linked away to Real Madrid. To go from Champions League Runners Up to being unsettled is bad organisation, they should be kicking on challenging for the title. They were in the title race last season until Feb.

Lucky dip predictions next week. What odds would it have been on a Palace, Newcastle, Southampton treble. Quite pleased for Steve Bruce though, a likeable guy. Something not clicking right at Spurs though and I can see a bit of a blow up there. They should have been wiped at Man City last week. I think it stems from Mo Po possibly wanting to move on. Fair play to Burnley they have started well and it must hurt to lose a 97th minute pen at Wolves.

I put Defoe. He worked tirelessly but was hounded with 3 or 4 around him every time he got the ball, yet he was still creating chances, on another day he would have scored 3. That from a 36 / 37 year old.

Defoe....if there was a striker around you'd want that to fall to.....
