  1. Frankie, I quite like the 4-2-3-1 formation but Id like to have a De Boer / Buffel type player where you have Ferguson. BF plays too deep these days and comes back to pick up possession outside our own box when Hemdani should be doing this. When playing this the 2 wide men MUST get forward and support the front man but Burke and Adam didnt do this enough last season although Adam chipped in some goals. Thats very encouraging and I hope so. Agree with Papac, I quite like him and he played ok at LB. He would be handy to hang onto but if we got a fee that we could put towards a better player then we have to take it. The Svensson one is tricky, my preferrence would be to have Cuellar and Webster in the squad ahead of him. A loan option may be the way to go. Buffel - I think he should get one more chance to play that front man role. He must know he has to prove something. He has talent but needs to be consistant. Sionko - I liked him to start with but it seemed like he had left anyway for the majority of last season so he can go. Sebo - Disagree. I dont think he cant classed a disappointment when he barely got a game. If he got a run of 6-8 games and didnt do anything then id say he wasnt any use. That is depressing reading IMO. I know your a bit of a keeper Frankie and may see something in Smith but Im looking for a fairly proven keeper. If Langfield signed Id actually be a bit embarrassed. We should snap Konchesky up if possibly, heis a good player but a bit hot headed (similar to Danny Mills who ironically we are linked to at RB). But Konchesky would be a hige improvement to Ian Murray who has struggled last season. Hutton has made the RB position his own so it is cover we are looking for rather than a better player. Lowing may get a better, but Hutton is a must for RB on last seasons form. Would we consider letting last seasons best player go?? I think if Thomson could be accomodated next to Hemdani it would encourage him to get forward and get more goals. Hemdani must stay IMO. Agreed I do think a lot more could still take place - whether its for the better or worse we will see in time. It is typical Walter Smith to do shrewd quiet business so thats what we are all hoping on at the moment.
  2. If the 3-5-2 is used then it has to be used the correct way. It all depends on the personnel at the club. For eg I think Arsenal and Man U would be daft to play 3-5-2 as they work the 4-4-2 so well and have the right balance but Liverpool and Chelsea on the other hand could get away with it. The argument is why do we need 3 centre halfs in the SPL. But the way I look at it is why do we need 4 defenders! Lets have an extra midfielder and that way we still get 2 upfront. For eg - Celtic worked this very well under MON and they continued it into Europe. But they had 3 big and strong centre halfs, a holdng midfielder with a tackler then creative players plus 2 strong forwards. If Celtic tried that now they would probably get battered due to there squad now. But from a Rangers point of view we havent had a good balance in the team for about 5 years. Our central midfielders just dont justify an attacking 4-4-2. But under Advocaat we were awesome with the 4-4-2 and played it correctly. I just want the best formation that makes us a better team and play better football. And at the moment I still think 3-5-2 would suit Rangers better.
  3. My priority would simply be a class player regardless what position he plays as we dont have enough in the squad full stop. I cant understand the quantity of centre halfs though. Cuellar would improve what we have so id take him as we do need a long term partnership to be created. But what about Svensson and Webster? It will depend on Svensson improving a lot but Weir could assist in that. If Webster signs then he will need a run of games so only time will tell if he is good enough. IF we are looking at Cuellar then why on earth did we sign Broadfoot if Papac and Murray arent getting shipped out? I quite like Ehiogu, I think he will be a better player once he gets used to the SPL - and thats takes time. But he is 34 and thats not long term. As said Hemdani can play there but I prefer him in the midfield. Id love to have this quantity problem if it was midfielders we were talking about.
  4. Not a bad finish to the season but I think Barca should be champions due to goal difference. Thats over a season while the head to heads can be decided over a few unfair factors. But I predicted Real at the start but wish I had a be on. The media are going over the top with Beckham though. "Becks wins title" - FFS he didnt play in half the games.

Yeah saw this, we should be putting in an offer for him , we have nothing to lose. But i expect an EPL club to snap him up, he is a great player. Also Jaaskaleinen is leaving Bolton, one report say he is available for about 2 million while Im sure I read he was leaving on a free as his contract is up. Again we should be at least making some interest for a keeper as good as this.
  6. Fulham were supposed to be close to signing Healy and there was another side linked also (poosibly Derby). I think 400k for Healy would be a better bit of business than 1.5m for Naismith.
  7. This time last year id have agreed with you and thought would could get a similar player for cheap. But now that the level of player at Ibrox is coming down, id keep Ferguson. Hopefully he gets a good rest over the summer and is 110% fit for the start of the season and BF on his game (along with Hemdani / Hutton / Weir) is still the difference between us and the rest of the SPL.
  8. Danny Mills is the rumour on the BBC today. 5 years ago this would have been a class signing but now Id have Hutton way ahead of him. But Mills would be fairly good back up.
  9. Thats my post in a nutshell I forgot to add Beasley to my post but Ive no idea where he plays or how good he is. Pete, your team isnt back except Thomson isnt a RM / RW

    Our Away Top

Thats stunning!!! And the top isnt that bad either BTW. In fact the top is well tidy.
  11. Id say yes at the moment or how else can we play him unless we go 3-5-2 / 4-5-1? He didnt impress me that much last season and he isnt better than Hemdani or Ferguson. If all 3 play then we are in the same boat as last season unless we get 2 quality wide players to whip in crosses for a striker. TBH I didnt see too much of him even at Hibs so I have to go with Hemdani and Ferguson ahead of him.
  12. Following from another post, we need to sign 2 wide players and possiblily a central creative man depending on Buffels situation. So what does that mean to the starting line up and how we going to accomodate the players we have that should be in the team? Ferguson and Hemdani are kinda similar but both can only be in the team if we play 2 wide men rather than a creative central player. If we are to go 4-4-2 that means we would need to look at something like this: ______________McGregor______________ Hutton_____Weir_____Ehiogu_____Smith _____________Ferguson______________ New__________________________New__ _____________New/Buffel_____________ ________Darcheville___Sebo/Boyd______ That leaves Hemdani out so does Walter look at a 4-3-3: _____________McGregor_______________ Hutton_____Weir______Ehiogu_____Smith ____Ferguson__New/Buffel___Hemdani___ ____Sebo/New___Boyd_____Darcheville___ That 4-3-3 looks quite good but doesnt have any natural width so we would be relying on Sionko, Burke and Adam to then come in and play there roles as squad players, but as soon as they come in the formation would change. Its going to be interesting to see how we are going to line up next season. BTW I know a few will ask why Webster isnt in the team but as far as Im aware we still havent signed him so its big Ugo for me at the moment.
  13. IF we do sign a decent right and left player along with a creative player thats almost a new midfield, and what happens to our current midfielders? I still cant work out if Ferguson is a holding midfielder or an attacking one. As he is moving towards 30 I think he should look at becoming our holding midfielder. The problem is then we have BF, Hemdani and Thomson and most would have 2 if not all 3 in there starting line up then how do we accomodate 2 wide players and a creative player. Everyone knows I still like the 5 man midfield and IMO this is the only way we are going to be able to accomodate BF, Hemdani and a new creative player in the same team. Hemdani and a fully fit BF are a must for the team IMO, Hemdani and Hutton were head and shoulders above the rest last season, so Walter has a head ache as to how we line up next season. But no doubts about it, we really do need some creativity in the team.
  14. Even the lack of realistic transfer talk is frustrating. We are only linked with Naismith and he is the only rumour we can discuss. Even the McCulloch and Webster deals have went quiet. I have no doubts we will sign a player or 2 but when and who is another matter.
  15. We should be putting an offer in for him and showing more intertest here than going for Naismith IMO
  16. For those who cant make it out: 1 man couldnt carry, couldnt carry Lampard, 1 man and his folk lift truck, couldnt carry Lampard. 2 men couldnt carry, couldnt carry Lampard, 2 men 1 man and his fork lift truck, couldnt carry lampard .............. .............. :D
  17. Anyone else having the famous "page not displayed" page coming up often today? It coming up a lot for me.
  18. Nobody cares
  19. Nobody said you didnt
  20. This is true but its a team game and when we are playing 1 upfront it should be someone who is benifical to the team, again this isnt Boyds fault as he doesnt pick the team but he should be doing more on a personal level to improve his all round game rather than being out until late hours drinking and eating kebabs.
  21. We arent looking at replacing him, this is just my opinion. This proves my point about the level of our players. I agree that Burke and Adam are no more than squad players but this proves that our fans arent happy with the standard of player. I use Boyd as an example while Brindy uses Adam and Burke.
  22. I quite like that, it does look like Dortmund top. The worst ever glowing top was that celtic away top about 10 years ago with the wosp stripes.
  23. You're right it is unfair to compare and Im not getting at these players personally, its David Murray and Martin Bains fault that we have went backwards so much. The bold bit above is a great example of comparison between our past and present. Our opinionated support which is divided on topics is another reason. But IMO Rangers FC should have a much higher standard of player than Kris Boyd.
  24. Its all about opinions mate, and IMO he doesnt have a patch on some of our superb strikers of the past. I still laugh at any comment that compares Boyd to McCoist. Try to compare the likes of Durie and Hateley to Boyd and you realise how far backwards we have went.
  25. Whilst not being impressed by signing him at the time, I also have a good feeling about Gow. I think he could be an asset and do a job on the left and as a link between the midfield and forwardline. I hope Darcheville proves to be a good signing. I'll twist the debate a bit here, is there any of the current squad from last season that could be a surprise package and be a good player. If Buffel gets his finger out he could prove important or Sebo gets a chance!!!
