  1. Yup agree but you are probably right that stature comes into play with his decision making. As for Juve - I think they are the Spurs of Europe, always the bridesmaid and I dont think Ronaldo will assist in that. Actually still think the Real Ronaldo is up there with the best. Id have Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldo and Zidane as my top 5. As for Gerrard, he still ruined my FA Cup in 2006, West Ham on the verge of winning it until his strike. Bloody Scoursers
  2. I think thats harsh, Ronaldo will go down as one of the best players ever off his own back. People may not like him but he is a real superstar. He has possibly had two careers, one as a winger and one as a striker. As for Gerrard, he makes my all time premier XI although De Bruyne, Silva, Aguero and Hazard are getting close to making a better side. Schmiechel Campbell Adams Terry Ronaldo Gerrard Keane Vieira Giggs Henry Bergkamp
  3. Top 6 yes. There has been flashes of goodness but also stages where they looked poor. Wolves should have been them on the first day, they didnt show up at Old trafford and had Spurs goal been allowed to go 2-0 up then they were buried. So they are getting a bit of the rub of the green. Their depth isnt big, they rely on their first XI. Its a magic fixture for them this weekend, Newcastle at home. I just see Newcastle as too easy at the moment. Bruce wont last.
  4. I see what you are saying but I dont think he could have done half the job Gerrard done tactically and get as close to Celtic as we are. The player pulling power is one thing - Gerrard has raised the bar on that - but tactically and on the park I dont think mcInnes would have done anything promising as far as getting titles goes.
  5. 7 out of 8 correct is a highest for a long time for me. Wolves off the mark. Hammers 3rd in the league. Man Utd 11th. Unlucky Sheff Utd though. Somebody will hit Liverpool soon.
  6. Double Post
  7. Didnt we half dodge a bullet with not getting McInnes as a manager! And that ship will have sailed permanently.
  8. Defoe just ruined my prediction ...But I did say a smashing. Cracking day and right back in it!!!
  9. Thats the answer. But having 4 clubs from the top leagues getting oozed up by the CL money has ruined it. UEFA may even want that but know if they do they top clubs will break away.
  10. Im bigging up you both for backing West Ham. If my flutter fails I'll know who to blame ?
  11. Heard on a show earlier the next two matches v San Marino and Kazak are being played at Hampden. That is tragic. Id be stunned if more than 12000 turn up for the San Marino game. how can they expect to make money on that and how can that give the team confidence when playing in an empty stadium. SFA and plonks...just switch it to Rugby Park, Tynecastle or Easter Road and get a almost full house. The squad has potential it doesnt need let down by playing in reserve attendances. Lampard said Gilmour was MOTM other night for Chelsea - throw him in for Scotland
  12. Nations cup for clubs. I'll just wait until it starts before anything else.
  13. Good to see a 3pm Saturday home kick off again. This was always my favourite game of the season coming down from Aberdeen. Frankie - a bit narrow playing King, Jack, Kamara and Davis? Would be asking Davis to move out right a bit. Due to injuries this IMO is where SG should have a plan B formation and alter it to a 3-5-2. But that is too risky when its not been into practice.
  14. Im on silly time zones due to travel so... Sheff Utd 0-2 Liverpool Aston Villa 1-0 Burnley Bournemouth 1-1 West Ham Chelsea 2-0 Brighton Crystal Palace 1-0 Norwich Tottenham 2-0 Southampton Wolves 2-1 Watford Everton 0-2 Man City Sunday: Leicester 2-0 Newcastle Monday: Man Utd 1-1 Arsenal
  15. One thing about Ally is he is the only player to ever make a tap in look sensational! In thinking back more, his goal against Celtic in the 1996 Scottish Cup Semi Final was one I enjoyed the most. Robertson cut inside and had his shot saved into the path of a running on McCoist. His best assist would have to be the cross for Gascoigne to score against Celtic when Parkhead was being built.
  16. It certainly sounds that way as he has been like this since the summer, even before the CL final he was speaking about the club backing him - which they have done - and his comments in the media have been bizarre. You dont make it public knowledge about your squad being unsettled. So I agree he must fancy the gig elsewhere. They should be challenging for the title.
  17. Would go with Pete, Leeds away. Magical goal and this was at a high level in the Champions league against the English Champs. Although his best goal was arguably in a Scotland shirt at Euro 96 against Switzerland, what a strike that was!
  18. A hairline here and a fingernail there. Yet we are assuming the clip is exactly when the ball is played. I think the offside rule has to be changed. In the same way the full ball has to be over the line for a goal I think 100% of the players body has to be ahead of the last man for offside.
  19. I just noticed I did 9 homes. The law of averages wont allow that. Another thing I just noticed is all four of Sundays games are played in London. Busy afternoon for the capitals finest with four massive traveling supports, not to mention the M6 and M1 will be busy!
  20. Aside from the footy bets I took France to win the Rugby World Cup. I know they are well out of form but at 33/1 it was hard to turn down. A football coupon this weekend is Newcastle, Everton, Burnley, Cardiff and Dundee Utd all to win. 22/1. Have to say Ive dropped Dundee Utd though, Arbroath will take a big following through on the short trip and arent doing to badly. 14/1 for the other 4.
  21. Some good games this weekend, Sunday throws up a good few games. Friday: Southampton 2-1 Bournemouth Saturday: Leicester 2-1 Tottenham Burnley 1-0 Norwich Everton 2-0 Sheff Utd Man City 4-0 Watford Newcastle 1-0 Brighton Sunday: Crystal Palace 1-1 Wolves West Ham 2-1 Man Utd Arsenal 2-0 Aston Villa Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool
  22. Overall i preferred him as i right back but he did have a good run in the midfield. The thing that played against him in some games was the other midfielders werent good enough or they were also guys out of position, this was in Mcleish era. Big Bert Konterman played as a holding midfielder and we had Mlandovic and Stephen Hughes. But Fernando put up one hell of a fight in the past few years against this illness and im sure he will get a massive tribute tonight. Im glad its dutch opponents, its fitting.
  23. I agree with Scott there, I like to see the prestige clubs do well and want a competitive league. Villa will take time to get back up the table. Its Newcastle and Steve Bruce you fear for though. Anyway, Man City defensive worrys increase with Stones out for six weeks leaving Otamendi as the only recognised centre half who is fit. Its a test for Pep as the current greatest coach in the world to step up and find a solution with either the youngsters or playing others in the role. To go into a season with Champions League, Premier League and 2 cups with only 3 centre halves in the first place was a poor decision. I can only imagine FFP being the decision to not sign a defender. But they spent 60m on a full back from Juventus when he already has Kyle Walker.
  24. Thank you Napoli. A couple of crucial missed penalties. Dortmund missing at home to Barca and Chelsea missing at home to Valencia. What is Barkley doing picking it up to take instead of Willian and Jorginho. You would think after the Pogba and Rashford antic that all clubs would avoid that happening to them. Jorginho is Chelseas pen taker followed by Willian.
  25. Dortmund v Barcelona tonight, if ever a chance for Dortmund to pick up 3 points its now. Barca havent started the season well with Messi being out. Napoli v Liverpool again, the Italians won this last season, hopefully they do the same again tonight.
