  1. Good stuff, thats a 8:30pm K/o for me rather than a 11pm
  2. He is getting higher on my list of "scottish" managers. BTW, remember and do your preview for Lyon game soon mate
  3. Agreed Smith wont play a 4-4-1-1 but more a flat 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1. I would prefer to see a more attack minded line up, but Im all for attacking football in every game with a solid back 4 and holding midfield. But maybe it goes back to Frankies post R.E Davie Weir as to why we play this way - needing that extra pair of legs at the back 3rd. Not so much offended mate, just prefer all sensible views to be respected. I agree you have a point that this is the most important game thus far and it is a risk putting a player in who hasnt had any first team football but I still say he is match fit. RE your points 2 and 3 I think he does now have a bit of fight and is interested, maybe this is with age, but for him to be starring in every reserve outing against better reserves like Newcastle and Middlesboro AND playing on cold scottish evenings, shows he could be up for the fight. Then again he may be putting himself in the shop window for January. Back to my first paragraph - no, I dont think Smith will have a go at Lyon, but I wouldnt completely rule it out. And Id settle for Buffel to do as you mentioned. Quite a high possibility he will go with Adam and to fair to him he hasnt done too bad. Its just he blows hot and cold and when he is cold he is murder. But we'll find out on Wednesday evening or the early hours of Thursday for me. But one thing is for sure, I'll be up at 3am raring to go as this is amuch anticipated game for me, I really cant wait and Im looking forward to seeing the team sheet.
  4. But it has to be remembered, people deserve second chances and he has certainly knuckled down and showed the right attitude to get that chance. Its not as if he is like Ricksen was with his attitude or even Klos to an extent. Also it has to be remembered he was played out of position a lot when he did get a chance. And i hope nobody brings up the Sebo thing. My opinion on him was to give him a simple try, not a second chance. Anyway, this is off topic now so back on topic - I still think we will go through with a draw or a narrow win
  5. Yes agreed mate, and i respect others views and I also see where you are coming from. People disagree in every way of life from liking foods or voting political parties to rating and not rating footballers. But id never suggest I think your flawed and not thinking straight simply because we dont agree.
  6. Not at all, I expect McCulloch or Naismith to play right mid and Buffel could play in the hole behind the striker - that to me makes a better looking side. Bit of an insult to suggest my thoughts are flawed simply because they are not the same as yours or a few others on this forum. Who is to say I dont see the game better than you or the others who disagree with me? The guy has talent - nobody has ever denied that - and I want to see him show this in a Rangers jersey rather than a totally average footballer like Whittaker. I want to see attack minded players in the team who can have a go at players and raise the tempo of a game. How others disagree with that makes no sense to me. People rave about the likes of Boyd, but its playing the Boyds and Whittakers of this world that are the reason behind us not picking up a trophy in a few years. For me, Id have a set up which is solid at the back but gives a good option of breaking away and creating chances. If we have the likes of Whittaker then IMO I cant see us having much chanes in the final 3rd. We have a solid back 5 then we can have Hemdani and Ferguson infront of that then leave Buffel, Naismith and McCulloch as options for breaking away with Cousin. The best source of defence is to attack at times. If we have a solid looking line up then we are inviting a good team like Lyon to have a go at us.
  7. Tell me where Ive said lets play Buffel out of position and out on the wings?
  8. Naismith, McCulloch and Buffel should start miles ahead of Whittaker. You cant honestly say you would prefer Whittaker at Right Mid to Buffel in an attacking role??
  9. This pisses me off big time! I wish the yanks would piss off and leave football where it belongs. They dont have a clue how our game is ran and they are trying to take over and change it. The Liverpool owners think the transfer market is like their NFL draft system - and as Rafa put it - its not full stop. Ive been thinking for a while the Yanks will do anything for power and to win control over the UK public they would have to do something drastic and that means try buy out our biggest love - football. Piss off and stick to your baseball and handball
  10. I hope not, we need our best available XI with talent and experience and players who can match Lyon. IMO Whittaker is nowhere near good enough for this game.
  11. But we might need players who can make a difference when we may need them to
  12. Buffel is quite quick IIRC. I just remember him when we beat Celtic 3-1 at Ibrox 2 seasons ago and he was at the heart of hitting them on the break and got himself a goal aswell. I was going to ask about Naismiths pace. I like him as a striker but havent seen enough of him to think if he has plenty pace. But if so, id play them both
  13. As i said I think we're capable of at least a draw. Lyon are improving but are still not near the team they have been in the previous 5 years. One thing that does concern me is the pace throughout our team. With Darcheville, Novo and Beasley all out we dont really have much pace in the team and for this reason Id play Buffel. But we'll all do our line ups once Alan gets his preview up today or tomorrow. Alan you might want to do this today seen as its a big match and we can discuss.
  14. Bollocks!!! Cost me my coupon. Arsenal didnt start to play until 87 mins. Bad week for the Goons, drawing at Newcastle and losing at Boro - should have been 2 bankers. But the Hammera went up to Blackburn and got 3 points so everything is good there
  15. Fucking Arsenal cost me yesterday - unbelievable Had: Arsenal Bolton Spurs
  16. Jordon would be the perfect No.2 Agreed about 'Arry but i dont think he has a chance at the moment
  17. Been listening to Talksport this weekend where they are naming those linked to the England job then I listened to Your Call with Chick Young (instead of Traynor) this morning and heard some of them tipped to the Scotland post. To start with England are on a down slope and are looking to turn it around while scotland are on the up and should be looking to continue going in the right direction. Therefore England are being linked with Mourinho, Capello, Lippi, Klinsmann, Scolari, Oneill and Hiddink - all of whom come with a great pedigree. Mourinho is obviously first choice who has reported to knocked it back but No.s onwards are still great bosses. Then I here the Scottish names being linked - Calderwood, Jefferies, Levein, McGhee and even John Hughes was mentioned - thats embarrassing. Not one of them is a capable national manager to continue the good work set up by Walter Smith. Levein did ok at Hearts then failed at Leceister, and is now doing a decent job at Tannadice but that far from qualifies him for the national boss job. Mark McGhee was at who? Brighton, Wolves and now Motherwell! Once again not enough for me. Im not even going to mention Jefferies. For me, Id look abroad and to England aswell as the Scottish possibilities - G Graham, Souness (although i dont want him), Strachan, Burley. Id personally pick a 3 man team consisting of George Graham as No.1, Joe Jordan and No.2 and either Paul Lambert, Richard Gough or Stuart McCall as the No.3. There is a time and place for a young manager but now is not the time. We need stability and Graham will bring that. After that then we may have an improved John Collins, Gary McAllister or David Moyes (may want it) for the job. Just for the record I think the FA could shoot themselves in the foot by be all set to go for Jose but he has knocked them back, now they are going to be in the same scearnio when they chose McLaren - ie they wont go for first choice.
  18. Im boarding between 1-0 to Gers and 1-1
  19. That makes sense as to why Buffel isnt playing. But id still play him 3 games to see if he is worth it. McEveley was impressive against Man U yesterday and doesnt look a bad player. Burke will be another who goes to Cardiff
  20. Just print out the post
  21. I was watching bits of the game and there was no way 55,000 at the game. It was nearer 45,000. But we'd taken a draw before it started, its just annoying they got there usual late goal. They have Falkirk in midweek but they wont be able to take a 6 point lead with us having 2 games in hand so its happy days if we win our 2 games.
  22. Wasnt a bad game and Birmingham had a few chances in the 2nd half. A bit unlucky to lose a 92nd min goal.
  23. I thought they werent playing We should have been playing but not on Sunday. That was stuipid from Setenta - we shold have moved the game back to Saturday, but if it helps us so be it.
  24. He was 34 last week. Without doubt the best servant to the Premiership and Rio Ferdinand put out a few comments about him aswell that he is a underrated player. I agree and for me he is on par with the best ever in the Premiership in a number of catergories.
  25. FUCKING HELL!!!!!!!! I had: Leeds (won 4-0) Chelsea (won 2-0) Everton (won 3-0) Leyton O (won 2-0) Hereford (won 3-1) MK Dons (won 5-0) I was waiting on Wolves in the 5:20pm K/o and they lost 3-2 to Burnley :uzi: That was a 200 quid coupon - Wolves you are official wanks
