http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7176477.stm Burley Souness Burns McGhee Im really disappointed that George Graham hasnt even been mentioned. Have to say none of the above really tick the boxes for me especially when England have just appointed Capello. If we were to play England last month I think we would have played them off the park but i think Capello will get them going again. I cant see any of the above really carrying Scotland on from what W Smith built up. Burns is a cracking No.2 but not top man material. I think he may get it and if he does it will be out of pity that he never got offered the job. Souness is total hit or miss with most thinking a miss. Burley get a great job at Hearts but has struggled with Southampton. McGhee is coming on nicely with Motherwell but its a massive jump that to take Scotland to the next World Cup. For me, this appointment HAD to go to a bigger name who has managed at the top level and George Graham ticks all the boxes and it would suit him perfectly.

They are signing a Japanese midfielder - Mizuno

Shooting themselves in the foot as usual. Calderwood will go also, he has taken them as far as he can and isnt getting backed from the board. We moan about Murray but Milne has to be worse. He is absolutely minted, one of the richest men in scotland, but he doesnt put a penny in. He is waiting for the council to fund a new stadium then turn pittodrie into flats and he will walk away Good stuff
-
The only fear i have now is that the club have strongly hinted through various channels that they want the cash so he may feel like he has to go. But he cant be forced and Im sure Walter and Ally will be taking him aside and telling him that

This tournament has been a lot better in recent seasons with the big guns actually trying to win it. Im annnoyed with myself because before the quarter finals I was going to back Everton to win at 10/1 but didnt like betting against West Ham. Chelsea v Everton - Tonight - I think this will be a draw and Everton will go through with a 2-1 win in the 2nd leg. Arsenal v Spurs - Tomorrow - Spurs just cant get the better of Arsenal at all and despite the Goons playing there 2nd team (which would still be a top 5 team) I can see this being a narrow home win but I wouldnt rule Spurs out of the tie completely. I fancy Everton to go on and win the cup but wouldnt be surprised if tis Spurs they face in the final.

No Hemdani is a breath of fresh air on the ball aswell and as cool as a cucumber. He looks the part on the ball for me and is more of a tidy player rather than doing dirty work. Who knows, if he gets a run in the team until the end of the season then he would end up being a contender aswell.
-
I suppose he does the dirty work on the park that goes pretty unoticed by a lot. Ive picked up on it on a few games but still thought he was average at the start. For me the current contenders for POTY at the moment would be Hutton, Weir, McGregor and Cuellar - probably in that order.
-
Dancer - Sheff Utd once we get past Man City!! I said at the start of the season it would be a banker for West Ham to get Sheff U in the cup after they tried to appeal against there prem status. The Ammers will go up to Man City and be the first team to win there this season then give the Sheff U fans more to cry about!!
-
Obviously you guys see him in the flesh first hand more often but ive saw quite a few games on the telly this season and its really only of late his performances have started to be good. I thought he was very average in the first few months of the season. Its weird how different people see games and players differently.
-
K Thomson for POTY?? Thats stretching things a little is it not mate? Considering how good a season Hutton has had.
-
Anyone know the date when the last OF game has been rescheduled for? If we beat St Mirren and Gretna and Celtic only manage a point at Motherwell (which is a very likely scenario) then what a game that OF could be!! But we have to just go out and do the biz against the bottom 2 teams first.
-
But if Hutton was currently a Everton or Birmingham player who was playing like he is in the Premier League then they would fetch 12 million no problems. I think if Hutton continues like he is then 12 million is definatly a fair value considring Darren Bent was 16 million.
-
Yip me too. The difference here is he was a name so many knew of and its a loss to a huge popular industry, therefore a larger group can collectively understand the shock, whereas if someone unknown to the public dies its only the family and friends of that person who know about it therefore the rest of the world dont grieve dispite agreeing its a tradegy all the same.

The re-naming thing wouldnt actually bother me. Id prefer it to be Ibrox for a number of reasons but its been a success with Arsenal. There home was Highbury for over 100 years and were sad to see it go but things move on.
-
Seldom do you see 4 draws out of 5 results. How Stoke never won that game il never know. The boy Parkin's shot should have went in but somehow Faye got to it. Eduardo is a cooler finisher than Fowler and thats saying something. His goals against Everton last week were superbly taken.
-
No way we could turn 12 million down!! But cant see it being that much, although if he continues how he is then he will be worth it but its playing in the SPL that will cap the fee to 9 million.
-
It sounds like the want to move the ground a bit and keep the bricks which is very possible - Ive heard of many buildings which have been moved brick by brick. Agreed, size isnt everything but atmosphere makes a huge difference. Ibrox is flat as a pancake except in big games so we should look at ideas on how to improve this. For eg, Arsenal used acoustic experts when designing Emirates. 70,000 would be great for OF games but we'd need to lower ticket prices to fill a game against Gretna. Scotland does need a stadium this size for big matches aswell as a 30,000 ground.
-
70,000 - thats a fair revamp!!
-
I fancy Newcastle today. I was going to back Middlesboro yesterday when everyone fancied Bristol. Its kinda the same game and I fancy Newcastle to go there and score a few.

Yesterdays win puts us 1 point clear with 2 games in hand on most and 1 on Celtic (who's game will be a tricky emotional trip to Motherwell). We have a hectic January with re-scheduled games against St Mirren and Gretna. They have to be banker wins but will be awkward games. If we win them then it sets us up nicely to drive onwards. But the best thing at the moment is we have given ourselves this chance following 2 years of being out of it at this stage. We'll also have the OF game to be played again and that game that could say a lot should we win the Gretna and St Mirren games. With the transfer window open and Alan Hutton set to stay on for the mean time it will be interesting to see if anyone leaves or any additions come in. Lets kick on and stay on top and bring the title back home.

Didnt bother with any other forum, had a sniff on gersforums but they didnt accept my hotmail email so didnt bother. Also was away so didnt have my computer to worry about internet. But back to work on monday and the site has come on at good time for that I know its not anyone on here's fault that the site went down but Xmas wouldnt be Xmas without Gersnet getting lost in cyberspace - thats 3 in a row Looks like we havent lost too many posters but I'll be keeping an eye on who isnt posting and will try and get everyone back.

Disasterous coupon yesterday: Wolves to beat Cambridge - won 2-1 Blackburn to beat Coventry - stuffed 4-1 Bolton to beat Sheff U - lost 1-0 Birmingham to beat Huddersfield - lost 2-1 Norwich to beat Bury - drew 1-1 Southend to beat Dag & Red - won 5-2
-
Interesting! I cant see where the money comes from for a total re-furb of Ibrox. Bar72 cost the best part of a few million so 3 new stands wouldnt be cheap!! Until we know the full details of what is required then we cant really discuss what to do but id still like to see those screens taken away and the stands becoming more steep to create a better atmosphere - a bit like Dortmund and Newcastle (2 ends).
