LMAO Beattie But I share your enthusism Fraser, I hope the other 50,000 tonight do aswell. Im quite cautious about the game itself, mainly because I dont have a clue who WS will play or what formation. Id be happy with a 4-4-2 and having a go at the Greeks. I beleive in a game like this the best defence is to attack. They are coming to what should be a fortress and too often in Europe we have allowed teams to relax at Ibrox and we end up getting beat. We should be putting the shits up them and giving them a right good go.

I think a bit of both Stewarty, we certainly went a lot worse towards the end of Ecks spell and we were lost in space during PLG's time. We have turned the corner now though. But I think Gav mentioned it earlier, Celtic were able to play on a poor Pittodrie pitch on Sunday yet still bang in 5 for the second week running. Whilst winning the league is the priority Id still like us to prop up with the odd 5 goals here and there rather than dour 2-0 wins. But Im also happy to take that later on as we have to be cautious due to still being in 3 cups and going for the league. For me, id be very happy if we beat Panathinikos with the dullest 1-0 ever

Leyton Orient have let me down loads in the past so ive stopped backing them. It was West Brom that cost me last night, I had: Watford (won) Stoke (won) Swansea (won) Bristol City (won) West Brom (drew)
-
Yeah but thats coz he had Cleland and Moore in midfield.
-
That is a slight problem as he has came on a good bit. As jon says Papac will fill in fine but it could be a big night for Broadfoot! Or will WS go with Dailly? Pity the team couldnt adjust to 3-5-2

Why shouldnt we struggle to dominate Falkirk! We are a massive institution compared to them and our players are probably on treble there players wages, plus our training facilities are up there with the top whilst Falkirk probably train in a local park. We are competing in Europe every season whilst they havent even been a top flight club for half this decade. So we SHOULD be dominating Falkirk. Yes they try to play football more than the other SPL sides and this should play into our advantage like it did in there first trip to Ibrox this season when we trounced them 7-2.
-
I'll throw Jeffers and Richard Wright in there aswell. But he knows when to get rid of a player. Agreed with you and Craig above though.
-
Yip. I t made me start to think to myself do fans want to be like Newcastle fans and just want to be entertained even if it means losing 4-3. But The difference is Newcastle are in a league where they arent in a position to win things but we are. Falkirk are never going to come to Ibrox and win 4-3 and we wont really have much 3-3 draws at the likes of Kilmarnock and St Mirren. So saying that, we are in a much better position to win things but we should be much more adventurous in our play. We will still win games against the others as we have the better players and we may win those games by a bigger margin.
-
Exactly, especially when they spend there day at a top level training facility along with getting 1000s of pounds per week.
-
Oooomft - thats a tricky tie, both teams down the bottom. Perhaps a draw!

A bit of realism has to come into it aswell. This time last year WS was beginning mission impossible where we had had our worst 18 months in most of our life times. He's got us winning again and more importantly challaging in 4 competitions - so where the style of play is not enjoyable on the eye its still effective. But once again we have to be realistic, our standard of players is far below what many of us are used to. There are a number of our squad who are simply average run of the mill SPL players. Its those players with that extra bit of quality who get us those wins. Which such a mix of average and good players we arent going to get free plawing football. Plus the league we play in and the state of the pitches dont help us.

This is another thing Wenger does brilliantly, but this shows he is a bit of a businessman aswell, and is away from team matters. He has transformed the club inside out with youth etc. But Ferguson has done this also, although not to the scale Wenger did. Ferguson won the double with kids and took Giggs, Neville(s), Butt, Scholes, Becham through and won the league.
-
Its difficult to compare because Sir Awex has been in charge an extra 10 years. But Sir Awex struggled for 3-4 years before winning a trophy. Wenger came in a won the double in his first full season. Wenger has been in charge for 11 and a bit years and if he wins the league this season it will be his 4th title. If you look back and count how many titles Ferguson won in his first 11-12 years then its the same - 4 (93,94,96,97). FA Cups: Sir Alex has won the FA cup 5 times in 22 years, Wenger has won it 4 times in 11 years, so Years to ratio - Wenger leads although AF has won more. CL - They have both made 1 final each with AF winning and AW runner up. So at the moment it depends how you look at it. AF has won more but Percentage / time wise they are pretty much level. But they are both legends and will go down as the very best IMO. They have both produced amazing teams playing top class football but Wengers style is too easy on the eye. He also produced the invinceables by going a season unbeaten. But Ferguson pulled off a treble. Only once they have both moved on we will be able to give a definate answer as to who was more successful.
-
Henry leaving was a masterstroke. He was holding the team back with his moods and demands and wanting everything to go through him. Wenger is a genius and i hope they go on and do back to back titles this season and next to prove he is up there with the best.
-
In the SPL against lower league sides then yes but not against Panathinikos. I dont think the former Kilmarnock strike force is good enough to blast us into the next round. This side are good and we need a bit of bite about us. Boyd has proved his level is the SPL at best and struggles in big matches. I like Fraser's team but id still play Cousin.
-
Results wise = effective Performance and entertainment wise = very dull and pretty unimaginative
-
I do like the look of Frasers and Cammys XI. Frasers may be a shout but I think Adam will come in for him and beef up the midfield leaving 1 upfront. WS may also play Cousin for his quality (if he is in the mood). But Id personally put out: ____________________McGregor_________________ Whittaker______Weir_________Cuellar________Papac _____________Ferguson______Hemdani____________ ____Novo____________Buffel____________McCulloch/Naismith ____________________Cousin____________________ I cant make my mind up between McCulloch and Naimsith. LM has been struggling of late but his strong physical pressance could be vital in the game. I havent seen enough of Davis to say where he would play.
-
Totally agree. I was just thinking this morning now that Hutton has gone, who would be our main contender for player of the season, and CC has to be up there at the moment. Still time to shine for a few others with such important games coming up and 3 months to do so.
-
Nobody says we cant. I just wonder how many people fly flags at Rugby games or if anyone was to take one into a Snooker hall. Im sure those people are equally happy to be Scottish or British or from elsewhere. Its partly a fashion just to take it to football grounds. I see P&P's point that it doesnt have relevance to football but I aslo see the other argument for it. But its a free country so people are entitled to do what they believe (to an extent).
-
Its a tough one. If Cousin is in the mood and WS plays 1 upfront then Id play DC. He proved against Barca he is the best at that role. Id only play Boyd if Buffel plays behind him. Thats the way I feel we'd get more out of him. With a solid midfield 4 then Buffel in a free role Boyd would get away with doing nothing. But I actually like the look of Frasers team. Its got pace and excitement about it. But Im with Gav, WS will play 1 upfront and I think it will be Boyd.

I thought the talk before Christmas was that this is pretty much a done deal in the summer?? I wouldnt take him for 3 million - abosultely no way - but if we got him for around a million then yes id take him.
-
Your just guessing :fish: We should be doing more business like the Cousin deal to make money if thats the way the UK transfer system is. Blackburns strike force cost 6 million yet Lafferty is valued at 4 million - thats a joke.

Quite a few fancied City. Our pundits on the telly did, but i thought Man U would have battered them. 11/1 was a steel
-
Ball has been playing well all season, he is a player I liked at Rangers but just had a bad time with injuries. Great result for Man City though even though it stuffed my coupon. Arsene Wenger must have enjoyed his Sunday lunch with those 2 results. Didnt actually like the plain kit Man U were wearing, it just didnt look right in this day and age.

Went to bed after the 10th minute and glad I did. What a pile of pish. What a chance for Arsenal tonight to open a wee gap up.
