  1. I think I heard Kevin Blackwell has taken over for this weekends game - he is as bad!
  2. What goes up must come down. I really think something big could happen to the Premier League in the next 5 years or so. Rumour has it ESPN are going to out bid Sky in the next tv rights bid which means the tv schedule will be ran from the US. Sky has brought on the Premier League but imagine the revenue loss they would have if they lost the rights!!
  3. Yip i'll 3rd that. Plus those who say he must be in the team are acting like he is the only one who can score and if he doesnt play it means the team wont score. This is nonsense, we are still winning games at the moment. Boyd coming in wont improve us due to his style of play or make us score more per game, all it may do is change the name of the goalscorer and make us less active in the final 3rd.
  4. They cant be that bad if your having 2 a game Mainstandbear The food used to always be spot on in the club deck when I had my ST up there. There was always a bit more choice and the chicks serving were alright. But it would be easier biting into your seat and it would be cooler having your tongue welded than eating the broomloan pies.
  5. Does anyone buy half time pies or burgers etc from Ibrox? IIRC the last few pies I had were like concrete round the edges but piping hot in the middle and couldnt eat it for about 10 mins. I remember one of the last games I was at was Porto a few years ago and the guy infront of me had a curry pie which was so hot he didnt start to eat it until about the 70th minute, but we actually scored when he was about to bite into it and the curry poured all over his hand and he was in agony with the heat of it. About 3 of his mates plus me were wetting ourselves at him. Just wondered if the pies had improved yet??
  6. Aberdeen are also a far far far lesser team than Munich while we are on par with Panathinikos at the moment. But we should be a better team than the greeks and I expect Rangers to give them a tougher game that what we did.
  7. Different levels. The Scottish game wasnt far behind par with europes finest when McCoist burst on the scene. He was scoring in the 80s and early 90s for fun. The Scottish game has went backwards while the top league in europe have went forward. So McCoists era was a much higher standard. Boyd isnt fit (literially) to lace Super Allys boots. Coist worked harder, had more skill, ran faster, moved more, did more in general. You only have to watch the McCoist clip and see he was much quicker than Boyd. Even in 1995 when Coisty wasnt playing so much he still did more - who can forget the goal he set up for Gazza at Parkhead when Gazza ran up to the Bears lifting his shirt above his head. For that goal McCoist came wide right at fullpace and swang in a brilliant ball for Gazza - can you imagine Boyd even getting over the the right touchline in a game?? You can make comparisions with the situations they are in but not the standard of player.
  8. You cant play Gazza left mid Wija!!

    Positives.

If they are not practising that in general then questions should be asked what on earth they do in training. Surely Shooting has to be part of the training schedule for strikers.
  10. Its a pity he doesnt go back to his old 3-5-2 but get players in the right positions this time. That way we could fit in Boyd (however I wouldnt start him) plus keep 3 central midfielders and 2 wide men.
  11. Agree with Pete and Alan, CC is far ahead of Ferguson for me. Alan Hutton would still be my current choice though.
  12. Thats a great result for Aberdeen, ok its the UEFA cup but to draw and maybe deserve more against Bayern Munich would be a great result for many better teams than Aberdeen. The sheep are a very very average side but you have to say thats the way to play in europe - have a go at teams when your at home.
  13. George Graham would easy have been a popular choice amoungst fans. If we got him with a good assistant like Joe Jordan then we would have been a very solid side IMO and id fancy our chance to qualify. I just purely rate El Tel as a manager and always have done. Granted he hasnt been doing much lately but that doesnt mean to say he has become a bad coach.
  14. He died the night before the final and was cloned. But agreed, could have been one of the best but he decided to go down the same road as John Hartson and couldnt stop eating and it finished him. He is still probably on silly money at Milan though.
  15. Not Sky mate, he'll be out my way AGAIN like he was after the West Brom job. Then our pish but pretentious pundits will be all over him like a rash.
  16. George Graham for me. But I actually dont mind the Burley appointment, I think he is a good manager but Id have liked to have seen a few better names in the shortlist rather than Burns, Davies and McGhee. Obviously Scotlands 'A' list of managers (Sir Awex, Moyes, etc) were out of reach but I never heard George Graham's name mentioned once. I thought we could have looked abroad or England. Terry Venebles would have been another id have been happy with.
  17. There is no doubt about it, he sets the stall out not to lose games and relies on our better players having enough to create something in the 90 mins that will win us the game - and its working. Against Celtic is a different matter - he just knows how to win these games.
  18. Good thread Mike. Having everyone on top of their game and at full fitness my team would be 4-4-1-1: __________________McGregor________________ Whittaker______Weir_______Cuellar______Smith Novo________Ferguson____Hemdani____Beasley ______________Buffel________________________ ___________________Cousin__________________ Or 3-5-2: __________________McGregor________________ ________Weir_______Cuellar______Webster_____ ____________Thomson_____Hemdani__________ Novo_______________Buffel____________Beasley ____________Darcheville___Cousin_____________
  19. Ooh!! Sorry to hear that mate, but it did make me smile coz I didnt bet it.
  20. Nobody said they will go on and be world champions but they, like England, have shown ambition to go out and get a top drawer manager - something I thought Scotland should have done.
  21. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_utd/7238885.stm Robson was a fine player but he is the prime example that good players dont always make good managers. He is a shocking boss. He buggered up at Middlesboro, West Brom and now Sheff Utd. Retire son!!
  22. After reading the line up then the match discussion I find WS selections nothing short of a disgrace. At the back he has a solid keeper and a solid back 4 that is tough to break down. The last thing he needs is 3 central midfielders with NONE of them being attack minded. Then he plays someone on the left who is Sunday league material at best - Charlie Adam is absolute rank rotten. I was glad to see Novo got a start, he should have been given that months ago but agree with Craig earlier, Burke didnt really warrent to be dropped, but Novo should have been ahead of Burke around Sept / Octo time. Upfront is baffling. For Smith to play McCulloch there is out of the Alex McLeish baffling book. Tactics: 4-5-1 at Ibrox against a average european side :admin: Its just asking for a 0-0. We should be having a go at these teams and using attack minded players.
  23. Didnt go for a bet in the end . And glad, Dundee Utd would have cost me. I was going for: Marseille 3-0 PSV 2-0 Sporting Lisbon 2-0 Werder Bremen 3-0 Hibs 4-2 Dundee Utd 0-1 That would have been a sickener
  24. All things aside - formation, attitude etc - I say play him.
  25. Yeah spot on there in the first paragraph which is what ive said. If its one upfront then Cousin is the only man for the job. If its 2 up top then any 2 can play. Second point - what does that say about our current strikers if he has grown in stature!!!
