Veteran star David Weir set to quit Rangers this summer

Yeah thats been truly baffling!! We shouldnt even look at signing him until he has played a few games. -
Why not to Marlon Harewood? I think he is a good player. Strong, fast and a good finish plus a good attitude. He was be a huge hit in the SPL
-
Not a bad thing, he will be a good squad player who can fill in a number of positions.

Didnt realise they left Raul out, thats pretty big! But they have Torres who is on fire. Quite like Romania aswell but they have got France, Italy and Holland so its a bit of an ask for them! But maybe it will swing in there favour as those 3 may cancel each other out.

I agree we havent had a regular creative player since De Boer, Buffel could have been that player but that topic is finished. However if we get Lovenkrands back then a creative player wont be needed as much. We could have Beasley (left) Lovenkrands (centre) and Novo (right) all playing in a 4-2-3-1 behind a striker and their pace reduces the need for a De Boer type player. This doesnt look too bad! ______________________McGregor_____________________ Whittaker________New CB_______Cuellar___________Papac _______________Ferguson______Thomson______________ _____Novo____________Lovenkrands________Beasley_____ ______________________Darcheville____________________

I agree, so its WS fault for punting him on the right. There is no way Ferguson and Thomson will play every game for us next season and Hemdani may leave so we will need central midfielders (again). He isnt the ideal player to play behind the striker in a 4-5-1 but he is a decent option - and a darn site better than Ferguson in that role. He would be ideal playing central in a 4-1-4-1 formation.

I hate when people say they dont want him because he started well then went downhill. If we do get him does that mean he wont go uphill again and start playing well again?? Its like Hemdani now - He was POTY in 06/07 but now everyone wants him punted. But when its the other way around like Papac who started off poorly and now is playing well they want him to stay. He has shown he is a good player then he got moved out on the right where he was average. Playing players out of position has ruined a few Rangers careers before. Form comes and goes with every player. So Id take him unless Walter has better options lined up. I dont think we can have enough central midfielder with a bit of attack mindedness about them. But he has to play central midfield if he joins.

Interesting stuff Cammy. Miller and Lovenkrands will bring much needed pace to the team and with Beasley on 1 wing that 3 doesnt look too bad. Id be delighted if we get Lovenkrands back - he should have never left. What age is he now anyway? - Cant be any older than 28?? As I said before about Miller he will have to prove a lot of fans wrong but take away his reputation I dont think its the worst signing in the world. Cant see Robinson coming to Scotland at all but Id take him if McGregor leaves. The other deal with him Ive heard with Robinson is he and Robert Green from West Ham could do straight swaps but I hope not. I said we should have went for Green years ago when he was at Norwich. McGregor would be a huge loss though and if he has a quiet summer on the social side then his off field stuff will die down. Id rather we just get Cousin sold off for 3 million. He is a good player but has no interest at all. I can see the same thing happening to him down south, he will start off good but then realise Fulham are a small team and want away. Davis would be a good addition for us but 2.5 million tops. Shittu - Only know his name and he has been around for a while unless there was another Shittu. Cant judge his ability. Stevenson - TBH ive never heard of him. Bring back Seeebbbooooooooo as there is no transfer fee involved!!

Looks like he is staying on at Motherwell. But I can imagine he is just waiting for a better offer than Hearts as nobody can go there and be manager.

If Portugal come up against a solid team like Germany they wont get to showboat.

For first team matters its probably for the best but he would be a great back up player. Maybe we should just offer him a coaching role aswell. If not we should bring Gough in that role. As for Webster either get fit or leave. We cant have him sitting in the treatment room every week when we dont even own him. -
I think moving him into the centre next to Carlos is a good shout, he possibly deserves a shot there.

I thought they were going to go up, that must be a stinker for them having to play another season in League 1, especially after Forest going up! Leeds v Leicester will be the only big game in that league now. If Leeds had went up the Championship would have been that bit better.

Boyd is a tricky one. Nobody (even his critics like me sometimes) can deny he can score goals even though his fluffs a lot aswell but thats beside the points. Its his other side to the game which is why he hasnt played IMO. He is nothing other than a poacher and the current side needs more from him when he has been picked and he hasnt been able to do that. When we play Boyd we HAVE to have other players in the team who are going to go deep to the position where he would be and we need players who are going to create his chances - that will then allow Boyd sit just poach then bag all the goals. Until we get the right players to allow Boyd to just poach in the team then he is a non starter IMO unless its against the average run of the mill SPL sides where we dont have to be at our best every week. My preferrence would be to sign players to allow us to do this but getting a player in the mould of Gascoigne and Hateley which is what we need would be impossible in the day and age.

As far as I was aware there was also no corruption and lies coming from the RST
-
There is no way I'll be saying GTF to Miller. I'll say welcome to Rangers and you better start scoring goals!!

Just a wee thread for everyone to drop their thoughts and reflect on the season. Enough has been said about whether we blew the league, the SPL blew it for us or both. Im looking at it in 2 ways: 1) When Walter came in we were a mess and this seasons targets were to get in a position to challenge again. Big tick on that box. 2) Rangers should never have been in that situation anyway. Aswell as bringing in new faces, the main things Walter and Ally installed was fight, grit and never say die attitude with a bit of harmony - which should be at the club anyway! So maybe the quality has always been there! I really am looking at the league as our loss more than Celtics win and 1 which should have added to our world record. However if we go back to point 1 then this season has been a great season of progress. If we do the same next year then we should be champions. Therefore next season the league title is a MUST! Stage 1 was steady the ship - done! Stage 2 was get back to be challenging again - done! Stage 3 is win titles - next! There can be no excuses next season unless another club gets a multi million pound investment and signs world class players.

Just seen Boyds free kick - what a screamer!!! Also read he is considering his future, I think McLeish will come knocking.
-
I feel sorry for Grant aswell, he actually did a good job there. If Heskey didnt score at stamford bridge with 3 games to go in the 93rd minute I think they would have won the league and then if JT hadnt slipped they would have won the CL. - Its such a fine line in football between success and failure. Michael Laudrup has also been mentioned as has Hiddink and a return of Mourinho!
-
Certainly wont be France after we beat them twice and they are arrogant. I normally back the Dutch in tournaments and support them but not sure about this year. I also have a soft spot for Spain and say every tournament they are due to come good and I would like to see them win one. But I dont mind, il just wait for it to progress and support teams along with way. Greece to defend it!!!!
-
TBH I think going to Bristols ground would have been tougher and more awkward for a lot of teams. Hull have a nicer stadium and teams will play there football more against them. The Championship will be very interesting again next season especially if Leeds get up today.
-
Well its a cup double and we finally have the Scottish Cup back where it should be. Its not the way we would have liked but fair play to QotS for there effort. The players can now have a break for the summer....I bet half of them are thankful Scotland arent in Euro 08
-
I wonder if Ian backed the Boyd hat-trick, he mentioned it on another thread
-
This is his level today mate But Im happy with him, he got the first goal for me when i had him on. He is a poacher and nothing else so needs the service. Thank fuck for him today though, 2-2 was getting embarrassing
